February 4th, 2012 MAGIC 7 night Western cruise

We just booked Palo for first evening. We were looking at walking Key West, but talking about the on/off tour.

As far as puppies--we have two--more toddler dogs that puppies, but they will need to be at the doggie motel for a week. Then daughter is taking them with her for the long weekend. I'll miss them, but I'll enjoy having the peace and quiet for a little while. I love them, but these two are a handful. Especially George! He is full of it! So, a little break is a good thing for this doggie mommie! We have one Yorkie and one Yorkiepoo. Our Yorkie has a very stubborn temperment. She's bother. The Yorkiepoo is (forgive the reference) a blonde! We call him fluff! Quite the duo! I want to hear more about your Yorkies!

Too bad we can't bring our pets because it seems we could have a Yorkie meet between all of us. Our DD had wanted a puppy for a long time so we thought about getting one for her birthday this past July. But a friend of a friend of a friend's mother had a 4 year old Yorkie that needed a home since she was moving into assisted living. We figured that a Yorkie would be a perpetual puppy so we decided to adopt her. She's very sweet.

We're having a friend who is a devoted dog person stay at our house while we're gone. We feel lucky to be able to do this.

I just got off the phone with DCL and found out that on embarkation day, we need to go to "D-Lounge" (close to guest services) to see about moving our Palo dinner reservations. She said managers from dining and the spa will be there to help with questions/reservations.

The DCL rep also told me about how her two daughters (ages 11, 8) really enjoyed their charging privileges on their last Disney cruise. Apparently the older daughter charged $300+ at the arcade during their trip. The younger one apparently ordered smoothies with light-up straws for her, her sister, and some new friends. (HA!) The end of vacation bill was a surprise to the parents.

You gotta love the quirky Yorkie personalities. We lost two - one elderly Yorkie a year ago November. We lost another this past Oct. We were all heartbroken. We had them 15+years. The rescue group fell into our lives and we opened our home to some 4-legged critters who needed a forever home. It's fun to have young ones tearing about.

Gizmo (the first rescue Yorkie) is the happiest Yorkie you'll meet. He was rescued from some hoarders. They crated him 24-hrs a day because their yard was too full of stuff. The rescue group did a wonderful job rehabbing him. He kisses and will play fetch all day. ALL day.

Nash & Nelly - the ones we just got are extremely timid. Nash needed to have teeth removed after his puppy mill stay. He smiles with an overbite and missing teeth. Quite the charming look. Nelly is a Texas-size yorkie. We love every pound of her. She's the most timid of the pack. If you look at her, she slooowly backs up. When you hold her, she'll give you her best poker face and sits perfectly still. When you set her down, she bolts to a corner. These two have a long way to go. They are super sweet but haven't learned who to trust. I hope we don't have any set backs being gone on the trip.

Hi All.

:yay:Looking forward to meeting you on-board...:yay:

Can we confirm the DIS meet at the Promenade Lounge at 3pm.

See you next week.:cool1:

Jane & Dave :dancer:

I feel left out, I have a Soft Coat Wheaten Terrier pup and not a yorkie. She's 9 months. Our first Wheaten died last June from I believe a heart attack. Wheaten's are loveable and very playful dogs. I was going to have my oldest son watch her while we're gone but he just got a job and will be moving this weekend, so my sister volunteered to watch her. She's my baby and I'm going to really miss her.

Thanks for the information about going to "D" Lounge to change/add Palo reservations. We were able to book Palo on Thursday evening but our friends weren't able to book their reservations, so we need to add them to our table. Hopefully we're able to add them, not sure if my DH will go without them since we are traveling together.

One more week till we leave. Can't wait.

My puppy is a chihuahua papillon mix named Vegas. I will have to bring pics of him

DD9 will probably have to go home with all of you. For almost 9 years a dog has been on her Santa List and it just never gets delivered!??? Must be going to all of your homes.

We have one wild weekend of nonstop activities for everyone, getting everything packed, organized at work, etc then we're out of here on Wednesday. CAN'T WAIT!!!

Is there a way we will "know" our group when we meet on Saturday at 3?

See You All Soon!!

I feel a little left out too as my puppy is a 70lb Chow whom I rescued off the streets in a bad part of town. Thouhg he is the largest in the house he is the biggest baby and the 11lb cat scares him. Thanks for all the info and will have to quit planning and just do some changes (Palo) when we get on board. We love all of our 4 leg children too but they are a lot of work and nice to have a little break from them. I work from home too so I am with them all the time and am fighting the tuxedo cat (sampson) for the keyboard right now. I am hoping we can get into for dinner at Palo as nothing available on line. I also just finished FE gifts and looking forward to meeting you all. See you in a week or so and hope all have a great weekend!
Ann

That's a hoot! Kaylee is a 15 pounder! I guess you'd call that Texas-sized! She's very VERY reserved! Our Yorkie, Oscar, passed away two years ago. You gotta love the breed. We swear they have some cat in them. George is a must have cuddles! They are not well-behaved, but that's our fault. I spoil them like I never spoiled my kids!

I love knowing you guys are animal lovers. You have some really cute names for your pets! We may be taking in another rescue Yorkie when we get back. We're waiting to hear if she'll be adopted by another family. She is the mom to Nelly/Nash and came from the same puppy mill. With her timidness and lack of trust, it just makes sense she end up with her two 4-legged kids.

Any hockey fans here? Our 8-yr old has a hockey tournament four hours away this weekend. My husband is also the announcer for a local team. We're trying to coordinate when to make the drive between his games and my son's games. It's a six game weekend. I'm also trying to find ticket homes for two other hockey teams while we are gone. We're definitely ready for vacation next week!

Safe travels to everyone this week! :goodvibes

My wife and neighbor's wife (DFinch) have been up til midnight all week finishing them! :worship: What was I doing you ask? popcorn:: or :rolleyes1. Come on - you saw the FE map - you didn't want me involved in making your gifts did you :sad2: :rotfl2:

We're going to ship the FE gifts to the Disney Cruise Warehouse - it really helps to not to have to carry these through the airports. We did this in 2009 and the box of FE gifts was in our stateroom upon arrival. For anyone who might want to lighten their travel load, here are the details for shipping a package to the cruise terminal:

One box per stateroom, no exceptions.
The package must have the guest's full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.
The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.
NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned.
The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 pounds.
Address your package to:

Disney Cruise Line Warehouse

Guest Name/Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what your room number is)

8633 Transport Drive

Orlando, FL 32832

Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information:

ATTN: Housekeeping

Name
Sail Date
Ship
Stateroom Number
Packing slip
Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00 PM for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Magic. (Saturday)

Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00 PM for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder. (Sunday)

Packages must arrive by Wednesday by 3:00 PM for the 3-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Thursday)

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing forbidden is in it, then it will be in your room as usual after boarding. These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later than the rest of your luggage.

I couldn´t find when we will have a diser meeting. I remind 3pm but where??

We will leave to the airport in about 9hours :)

Maybe someone could send me a pm or leave a note at our stateroom? It´s 7628.

See you all aboard :banana::banana:

Just so you're not confused when you get on board, I'm pretty sure they meant Rockin Bar D. There is no D Lounge on the Magic. And they do have people from Palo, the spa and dining services to assist with changes.

Can't wait, only 8 days away!!!! I'm mostly packed! DP is not as obsessed as I am, and will pack early next week.

One packing tip for those travelling by plane or long distance. Dry cleaning on the ship is very reasonable. If you dry clean clothes at home, it's hard to get them to the ship without wrinkles. Here are the details for using the ship's dry cleaning services:

You will get a little note in or on the desk of your cabin. Place the dry cleaning note along with the items on your bed and your room steward will take care of it. The prices below may be a little out of date but will be close. If you just get the "Pressing" indicated as half the price of dry cleaning

Item / Dry Cleaning Price / Laundry Price

Suits (2pc.) / 7.00
Suits (3pc.) / 9.00
Coats / 7.00
Pants / 4.25 / 3.50
Shirts / 3.50 / 3.00
Evening Dress / 8.00
Blouses / 4.00 / 3.50
Ties / 2.00
Skirts / 4.50

*Regular Service is ready the next day by 5 p.m.

*Same day service: Add 50% to cost; picked-up by 9 a.m., returned by 5 p.m.

*Express service: Add 100% to cost; call for pick-up, ready in 3 hours.
