February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

Unless we are going crazy (entirely possible...:hyper: ) Brenda and I think we got upgraded! :cheer2: :cool1:

We're double checking with our TA too, just in case...

We have both been upgraded to cat 4 (from 5) - and have become next door neighbors!! So everyone - check your reservations on the Disney website and see if you got any surprises.... :cool1:

And then... email or PM me your new info so I can update the spreadsheet. ::yes::

I am actually!
My hubby is thinking about renting a tux on board. I found a really pretty dress I liked at the mall the other day but still holding out on buying cause I don't know how big I'll get in the next couple weeks. :scared:
Still looking for a dress for my daughter too but she's being picky!

I'll wear a black cocktail dress (knee length), and DH will bring his tux. I'd actually consider that "semi-formal" since I think really formal is floor length, but I'm not going to buy a new floor length gown just for this. If I had another reason to (wedding, etc.) I'd have no problem wearing it. It just doesn't make economic sense right now.

DD will wear a princess costume, and DS will wear a borrowed suit jacket from a friend, with nice pants and a tie. He doesn't mind dressing up. At least not now... maybe in a few years that will change...:sad2:

Well congrats to all those who got an upgrade, that is awesome news!

I don't think we will get an upgrade as we booked a specific room when we made our reservation. At least I don't think Disney will change us.

I can't seem to get on the Disney site, and DU has not emailed us any new news...so I guess we will be happy in our cat 6 room! First time for us with a veranda so I am happy!

Take care all!

W

Me too!
If we don't get upgraded, we'll still be completely happy with our veranda! Can't wait to stand out there and watch as we sail through the big blue ocean...

Hi Kids...NO.. .I am not ignoring you... it's just the time difference. When I am home with time off I am glued to the computer... but on work days I am up at 5:30, out the door at 6:15am and not home until just before 7pm. Long days full of meetings, meetings, and more discussions in meetings. That is why I take vacation every 6 weeks...!

So... I watched all the super bowl ads with my clients today and we discussed them. Everyone's favorite was the Career Change one where the people were asked the theoretical question of "When is it right to change your job". Great commercial, but not so good for name recognition. None of us could remember the name of the company, but everyone kept saying "Hey Dummie" and "Oh dear" afterwards.

The GoDaddy.com ads... plain stupid and a waste of however many millions they paid to air them. The twitter reaction of people changing their hosts was interesting though. Immediate negative reaction. Ouch.

We didn't get an upgrade unless they changed our cabins today... but I was happy to see that although we didn't get the same cabin for our back to back, our second week cabin is only 2 doors down from the first- Hopefully we will have the same cabin steward and moving will be simple. I can't remember what I've written here and what I've written on the other thread so if I babble.... get used to it. :confused3 :rotfl2:

Ah... tomorrow is my last full day of the week and then we are leaving for Sylt for a long weekend. It might snow... that would be cool... being on the North Sea during a snow storm - fingers crossed!

We are leaving our dogs home with our neighbor for the first time. We are kind of nervous about it... that is the only negative thing about going. I wish we could bring them onboard!

And to ring in on the pro sports thing... I hate them all. I hate the whole materialistic, fiscal balogna that goes with it and they are all overpaid morons as far as I'm concerned. I know the whole market decides argument, but it is a perfect example of how sick the culture has become to glory hundreds of millions on bad behaving jocks..well..you know the story.

Screw em all but 6 and leave those for pallbearers, I say!

so snowing here and I hate it, can't wait for my vacation to start 17 more days till I leave, and 18 till I get on the Disney Magic:thumbsup2

Congratulations on everyone who got upgrades! I am still GTY, so the wait continues. I will be happy wherever I end up though, I just want to get on the ship.

My DH loves dressing up for formal night. He owns a tux and has a bigger wardrobe than I am -- he loves clothes shopping. My DD, who is 5, told me on the last cruise she'd prefer not to wear princess dresses any more, so that kind of breaks my heart! She's not into girly things. I got a tux for DS (age 3) on ebay for $20 including shipping. I'm not sure what I will wear, I have two long dresses, both of which I've worn on formal night before.

I'm excited about baseball season beginning and pitchers and catchers report on 2/14 -- so I can look forward to another season of the Cubs breaking my heart. Last year we were on the cruise when they choked in the playoffs and although I contemplated throwing myself overboard, I distracted myself with the ship's onboard activities instead!

We're having more unseasonably cold weather here in FL, hope this is the last week of that.

Well I have not checked if we were upgraded, but if we were I just might have to put in an angry call into DCL because I picked the room I wanted to be in. I have stayed in that cave twice before and love it. It is so easy to find when I have had to much to drink. First one on the right after making my u-turn out of the mid ship elevators on deck 7. I really hope we were not moved. I may be the only person I. The world that would be upset about that. As to formal night, that is going to be a quick wearing of my suit cause right after dinner I am back into my shorts. I am not a fan of dressing up and thank goodness I work for a company that let's us wear shorts everyday. On to sports. I can't wait for Sat. when all of my beloved Dodgers equipment gets sent to their new spring traing home in Glendale AZ. I might catch the Braves and Phillies on Sunday march 8th at WDW. All depends on the bar bill from the ship.

Congrats Brenda and Johnna (and Ron and Mark, too)!! Does DCL know what they are getting into by making you two next door neighbours? At least the rest of us know where the Bushwhacker Banditos' Party Central will be...:cool1:

No upgrades here, sadly, but I wasn't expecting one, we have four Cat 6 staterooms booked and I can't see us all getting upgraded. But there IS some good news...

My Visa account got credited $1266 today by DCL!!! :thumbsup2

I had originally booked four Cat 6 staterooms and paid the deposit as well as an interim payment on them. At some point before they were paid in full, our TA was able to apply the Canadian resident's discount to 3 of them, making it that much less to pay off. Then, just before I paid the balance, I had them remove the airfare portion for all the rooms but mine (I was able to book cheaper flights with better scheduling). So I'm guessing that, once all was said and done, DCL ended up owing me money. Either that or Mickey likes me... :lmao:

19 days until we fly to Orlando!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Well I just checked. Thank goodness we were not moved. Also I found out that DVC hold thing on my DME luggage tags is just a fomality, at least according to DME. They told me not to worry about it so I will not.

Has anyone done the Skyride thingy on St. Thomas?
I was looking into that one and then I read that at the restaurant at the top they have a bar that serves Bushwackers.
My hubby wants to do go there and take pictures from the top and he said he's gonna load up on Bushwackers.
I get to watch him and drool.

We did it two years ago. It was fun, and the views were spectacular. The bar however was spectacularly expensive. I think I paid $6 for a smoothie for my daughter.
Here's a view from the top:

Oh I love that view!!! That's the exact picture I wanna get!

6 BUCKS FOR A SMOOTHIE??! Did it sing to your daughter too? :rotfl: Just kidding!
Well, I guess my hubby will save money on the Bushwackers since I won't be having any.
I'll be drinking a lot of water with lemon.

I did the skyride in 2006 and I just booked it again. The bar was a little pricey, but still resonable. The bushwackers up there were awesome.

Did anyone find out anything more about that Carambola Beach break? Is anyone considering it for their excursion??

Oh I love that view!!! That's the exact picture I wanna get!

We went up there last year and the view really is beautiful!!!!! In fact that is where we were introduced to "The now so ever FAMOUS BUSHWACKER"!!!! They really are DELISH!!!!!! SO tell your Hubby that if he gets there first, he better save some for us LOL!!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Kaylee did the sky jump and is really wanting to do that again, and as an added bonus for my girls they had a couple of little shops with knock off bags!!!!!
We will do this on our own, as it is in easy walking distance from the dock...and if I remember right we went late morning and there really wasn't a whole lot of people...I would imagine that first thing in the morning they would be pretty busy:confused3

Has anyone else done anything about St Croix yet????? The Disney Magic is there again this week..so hopefully we will hear some positive reports!!!!:thumbsup2

OMGosh we are getting so excited!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Can't wait!!!

Alan I understand what you are saying about picking your room...the room that we had was the same room we have stayed in the last 2 cruises, but now.....
We are not only excited about a little bit larger room, we are ESP. excited about our neighbors...maybe instead of bringing us a casserole like most people do for their NEW neighbors they will bring us a drink or TWO!!!! LOL!!!!! hint hint wink wink;) ;) ;)

RookieMouse WhooHoo how exciting,,,I'd say that is better than an upgrade!!!! Unless of course they put you in a suite LOL!!!!!

Formal Night...I do enjoy getting dressed up, we will rent a tux for Ron and the girls and I will wear a regular length dress, no long gowns for us...although if I had one, I would for sure wear it!!!!!!! It would be fun!

I'll tell him to save some for you guys!
But try to get there quick cause I don't know how long I'll be able to hold him back! He's a slippery feller when it comes to alcohol! Once I lose my grip on him, he's off and running! :rotfl:

Oh and would you guys know if we can rent a tux when we get on board or will it be better to call ahead?
