February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

After much discussion, my husband and I have decided to postpone our cruise until 2010. Our plans have been all over the place (from originally booking a B2B, then adding on DisneyWorld), but we have come to the very hard decision of not going at all in 2009. My kids were quite disappointed, but surprisingly understanding. We are going to stay closer to home and do a ski vacation instead.

It was great "meeting" all of you, and you can guarantee that I will be thinking of you the week of February 28th! :flower3: I wish you all a fantastic vacation, and I am truly disappointed that I won't be able to join in on the Bushwacker fun on Deck 4 (or poolside, or in Rockin Bar D, or anywhere else on the ship for that matter!)

Please somebody - post a trip report with pictures when you return! I would really enjoy getting a glimpse of the fun I missed.

If anybody rebooks on board, we are sailing on the Christmas cruise 2010, maybe we can take a raincheck on that cocktail :drinking1

Carolyn

Hey Carolyn,
We totally understand your position!
Our dollar and the way the world economy is right now is more that just a little frightening!! :scared1: I for one am sad that I won't be meeting you and your family.
In fact if it was not for this being Lauren's "wish" cruise, I can almost guarantee you that we would not be venturing out of the country at this time either. As it is we knew that we would be out of pocket for some expenses on this trip, and calculated for them, but not to the amounts we are thinking now! Then again, we just have to say... what the heck..we are celebrating life and the fact that our little princess: girl  is here and healthy with us to enjoy the holiday!! Bills will always come and will get paid... maybe a little slower now :scared: though for awhile...:rotfl:
So yes I will keep you in mind and will send you an email and a pix or two when we are back!!
Stay in touch with us here on the thread!!

HUGS

So sorry to hear that we won't get to meet you & your family, Carolyn. :grouphug: I, too, understand about watching finances with the way the economy is today. If our cruise wasn't already paid for, I would be thinking twice about it too.

The Bushwacker Banditos will have a toast :drinking1 to you onboard!

Have fun on your ski vacation!!!!!

Oh, and do you guys usually get REALLY dressed up with tuxedos and pretty gowns for formal night? Or do you go the suit and tie and nice dresses?

We don't get super dressed up. I'll be wearing the little black dress that you can wear everywhere and if I can find a gold shawl or something to wear over it I will seeing as it is the night of the Golden Mickey's. DH will likely be wearing a suit, no tux, well unless he doesn't go get his suit altered in time. The girls I'll see what is on the clearance rack right after the holidays. I would love to find some sparkly gold dresses for them. Formal night is my favorite night on the boat!

What excursions is everyone looking at?

With a 1 year old there isn't a whole lot of options for us so its been pretty easy deciding this year.

St Thomas we will probably do the Paradise Point skyride and perhaps the butterfly farm. Mostly this day we want to enjoy some time on the boat without everyone else around.

Castaway Cay we will rent bikes and hang out on the beach!

St Croix we have no clue yet. We have never been there so it would be nice to explore the island. Perhaps the St Croix highlights seeing as it has some beach time built into it as well as the stops at other sites. I'll probably wait to book this until we hear back on some trip reports.

Oooh, formal night is the Golden Mickey's night then!
I didn't know that! I'll see if I could find something for my lil one to wear that will go with that theme.
I'm still trying to lose some weight so, I think I'm gonna wait till the last minute to get something!
I hate diets. :crazy2:
My hubby has some nice suits he can wear too, so he's good to go for formal night! One less thing to worry about. :thumbsup2

Carolyn, I'm sorry to hear you won't be joining us. :sad1:
My hubby and I were kinda stressing too cause of how things are with the economy. We don't have it paid off just yet but we don't have that much more to go, so we just decided to make some sacrifies and go for it. I didn't want to have to tell my daughter that we weren't gonna be able to go. It's our family's first cruise EVER and it's on her birthday. :)
I'm just glad my hubby is allowed to do as much overtime as he wants!

I hope you and your family have a great time on your ski trip!!

I hate diets. :crazy2:

U-hhhhh DITTO!!!!!!!!

On a MUCH brighter note.....Our Southwest flight out went down $50 a ticket today:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: I check EVERYDAY and today I couldn't believe it when it came up a different price... I checked to make sure I had the right date and destination LOL!!!
It went from $202 to $152 :cool1: :cool1:
Tink don't get any BIG ideas...you name is still ON the bar tab LOL!!!!!

So all you Southwest people...you might want to check your flights!!!!

Carolyn...sorry to hear about your change of plans. It's always tough to try to figure out what to do.
I think that Christmas would be a really fun time to do a Disney Cruise, they say that the ship is decorated so festive.

MARK.... Don't worry about missing the boat...we will NOT let that happen!!!! Cruise without the Story's.. I think NOT!!!!! we will give you a early morning wake up call!!!!
And while we are at it, I think we maybe should give the Tink family a call as well, just to be on the safe side LOL!!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Hope everyone is having a good day..

On formal night I wear a suit and the wife will wear a gown. As far as exersions go, in St. Croix I think it fronds and I are going to get a cab and take a tour of the Cruzan Rum fatory. In St. Thomas and Castaway Cay probably not going to get off the ship. At castaway maybe I will get off for lunch really quick but that is about it.

It went from $202 to $152 :cool1: :cool1:

We just booked our return flight - for more than that!!! :scared1: It was $170/each - although we'll watch to see if the price comes down more, then try to change/rebook - whatever.

Anyway - I can't believe it costs more to fly here from FLA than to Denver! What's up with that?!?! :confused3

I realize I have to update the spreadsheet to remove Carolyn (and someone else I think?) so I'll try to do that soon and send it out next week.

Ciao for now... Johnna

Okay, I have pages to catch up on..... I have not read anything, but wanted to try this to see if I can make it work... I have been soooo busy with this house guys. The good news is it is finished... Let me see if I can get the picture to post...

Oh congratulations on finishing the house! :woohoo: How exciting to be in the new place for the holiday season!!:santa:
The house looks gorgeous!!! I love the exterior color you chose!
Hope things are going well in Tink's world!

Wanda

Okay, I have now caught up..... First off, Donna- you can wear your jeans to diiner if you like. I have been known to state that I do not allow it, but I really think my problem, is with people who come to dinner as if they were going to McDonalds and never gave a flying hoot. My family ALWAYS breaks from what we are doing and goes back to the room to fresh-in up and change our clothes for dinner. I just like it when people do the same. I guess I am a little old fashion. I still call my kids to dinner and have them "wash up" prior to. So the idea of dressing for dinner makes me feel "proper" and some of my past cruise family here has caught me in one of those arguments. They even pulled a joke on me last cruise and all stated they were planning to wear those coverall things. :lmao: I think I went on and on for pages about how I would "DIS"own them.:rotfl2:

The air prices are really freaking out the Tink family. DH actually made the comment, for that price we can fly to Barcelona and do that cruise.... Our biggest issue is that the money is due Dec and we hear the deals with air will not come out until after the holiday.... We will sit down and weigh our options after moving into the house....:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Talk about stress. I need a bushwacker now....

I will obey Johnna's rule of no politics, do not like to discuss them same as religion; but just know Johnna we are thinking of coming your way in Jan. Very exciting thing for the Tink family, you understand why....:thumbsup2

San Fran Marla, pretty exciting. We have not been for a couple of years. We actually need to get back. My family is out there. We love the place. Actually my brothers and dad are hoping we decide to do them in March instead of Florida. The only thing is, I want a REAL vacation and do not know if that really counts as vacation....

I will get back on later. I have to run to the post office right now. Let me know what you guys think of the house..... There are a lot more on Facebook. You guys have my e-mail on the list, if you have an account, just message me and you & I can be "friends":) .....

Tink, I love your house! Blue is my favorite color.

Thank you for allowing me to wear my jeans. I feel special! :goodvibes However, after our shopping trip I decided I didn't like the shirt at Express that much at least not for $49.50  so I'm not totally sure whether I will wear them or not. They definitely cost more than my dress pants though. Of course, I can justify spending more on jeans than dress clothes since I wear them a lot more. It is fun dressing up for dinner on the cruise too! So we'll see....

Brenda, I checked my SWA fares for our return home to KC and they are $159 per person. :scared1: I'm going to wait to book though as we are flexible on our day to return home as we're going to go to WDW for 2-3 days after the cruise. I could book Delta for $80 per person but we'd have to change planes in Atlanta and pay for checked luggage and I know we'll have 3 bags to check between the two of us. So I'm just going to wait a while....

Sure hope airfare comes through for the rest of you!

Yay! :yay:
Looks like you had fun!!
It looked really windy too. That's what I remember most about my last visit to San Francisco...getting blown away by the wind!

Yes it looked like an awesome trip and I loved seeing the sights over your shoulders!!

Thanks for sharing you holiday with us!

only when we stay like 10 mins out of the city was it windy, not too windy in the city:goodvibes

Tink - Love the house!!! I sent you a friend request on FB - can't wait to see more pix.

If you do come this way in Jan, we'll definitely have to get together. And if you need a place to stay, we can work it out. Hotel Story charges nominally less than the Mandarin Oriental hotel. :rotfl: And our service is better. :lmao:

Hi,
My name is Sue and I am also booked on this cruise. It is my fourth but I am bringing 5 people new to cruising and thought that Disney should be their first!
A friend suggested that I look on the Disboards-my first- and see if I could find some other 9 year old girls for my niece to chat with.
Hopefully we be be able to find some other kids her age. Thanks...
Talk to you soon or see you on the ship!!
