February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

It has finaly sunk in. As I sit here and watch the Lakers play on ABC, I just realized I will be doing the same thing three weeks from today as the Lakers are on ABC that day as well.

haha, I prob will be watching that game as well. I always got to watch basketball:lmao:

Just bough my dramamine for the trip.
In 20 days we will be wrapping our first full day at sea!

Watched Coraline today, I liked it, but I wouldn't take very small children, it can be a wee bit creepy.

I am starting my graphics today (finally).
I'll check back when I have something ready.

Ahoy there! pirate:

NEWBIES: WELCOME!! As one of my fellow banditos already said, I hope you don't scare easily! :rotfl:

I'm the "keeper of the list" for this trip - names, kids ages, etc; for this crazy group of Banditos, so if you want to include yourself on there and get a copy of the list, please send me a PM with the following info:

YOUR EMAIL
Dis Name
"Real" names of adults; and kids names and ages
Cabin Number
Early or late dining
Where you are from (city/state)
Any special celebrations?

We're just sharing the info with each other, not posting it publicly.

We do have a group meet scheduled at the Promenade Lounge at 3:00 on the first day - generally that's enough time for you to get lunch, get to your room for a bit, come meet up with all of us, put faces to names, see what kids click with each other, etc; then back to your room for your lifejackets and the lifeboat drill. :woohoo:

Soon everyone...soon soon soon... :cheer2:

I'm trying to catch up!

Donna -AWESOME sign!!! Can't wait to add our names to one! Very very cool. :cool2: What's that font? Mark wants to play with it. It will stay on our door all week!!!!!!

Brenda - girlfriend, I will do whatever it takes, WHATEVER it takes, to make sure there is NO SEAFOOD SOUP OF DOOM at our table each night. I got your back! :upsidedow

Vanessa - I'm sure if you "forgot" to show up for jury duty and blamed it on "pregnancy brain" it wouldn't be a problem... if you had a female judge! :rotfl: Seriously- I know I'm out of the norm, but I really enjoy jury duty - especially if you get on a good case. But NOT DURING MY CRUISE!!!!! :rotfl: Glad you could get it postponed...and for your DH for being levelheaded when you need it most. :flower3:

John - how nice of you to take the Tink family clock with you. What a team player you are!

Dave - would love to visit "the Hamptons of Germany" but I'm sure I'd enjoy it more if it were in August! I do remember (vaguely...) the Jersey shore pre-build up. And I LOVE the Hamptons now... still NO boardwalks, beach hotels, etc. So quiet and peaceful. :cloud9: Hope to get back there this summer... we didn't make it last year. Luckily for me my Aunt lives there (she's a "local") and I've spent many a summer there. I miss it A LOT. :sad1:

Okay... I think I've caught up with everything I missed yesterday and today. It's been a busy weekend here!!!! But today I feel GREAT to have gotten DD's ROOM CLEAN! It was scary. REALLY SCARY! :scared1: :scared1: But we got it clean, and relatively organized, thanks to my sister's help (otherwise I'd have given up!) and we got the cruise clothes picked out. That is of course until she decides she wants to take all the stuff we're not taking....:sad2:

So now I only have my own packing to worry about (and all the kids "little stuff" like socks, underwear, etc.). I think I can handle that in less than three weeks. :thumbsup2

Ciao for now... J:cool1:

I do have one question, and I do not mean it as a critizim but more as a curiosity. Why does all things DCL have to be about Pirates? I am just wondering. Personaly I am so over the pirate thing, I am not looking forward to the pirate buffet. I wish they would come up with something different.

The way I see it, Alan, there are basically two reasons that Disney is going whole-hog with the Pirates theme:

1. Disney owns the whole Pirates of the Caribbean thing, and wants to milk it for all it is worth. It's called riding a winning horse. pirate:

2. We will be sailing (figuratively) in the Caribbean and the history of that area is very closely tied to the whole pirate thing (see #1). Yes, there are other things, but the pirates are the most "romanticized" part of the history.

Look at it this way, as long as Mickey is sailing the Caribbean, I'd prefer a Pirates theme over other, more recent, parts of Caribbean history.

Imagine, if you will:

"Colombian Drug Runners of the Caribbean"

or

"Communist Dictators of the Caribbean", :scared:

or

"Evil Haitian Despots of the Caribbean", :scared1:

or even

"Marijuana Smoking Rastafarians of the Caribbean", mon... :smokin:

...you get the idea. So...

"Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Pirate's life for me..." pirate: Arrrr!!

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

John

John I hear you, but I just am sick and tired of it. I mean Disney has so over done it. I do understand completely I personaly am just tired of the theme and I think it is time to move on. For my transatlanic cruise next year I will not even join the main meet thread because it is a pirate theme and I personaly am just sick of it.

Hmmm a fresh new theme for the cruise... the Magic is art deco right?
Maybe something based on that time period style late 1920's 1930's.

*thinks about it*

woke up today at 5:00am feeling really dizzy and like I was going to puke.

I haven't puked yet so that is good and I can eat so I'm happy right now about that. At least I am getting sick now so I don't get sick on the cruise or anything. I get sick usually once a year usually in febuary that I really feel bad. It sucks

in other news I'm going to watch disney cruise dvd's I have made from my cruises:goodvibes

Brenda - girlfriend, I will do whatever it takes, WHATEVER it takes, to make sure there is NO SEAFOOD SOUP OF DOOM at our table each night. I got your back! :upsidedow

Whew!!!!! :scared:
Thanks!!!
If it would be ANYTHING like my dream...It would be NASTY!!!!:scared1:

Donna GREAT job on the signs...Very talented indeed!!!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!!! The days are ticking on!!!
Won't be long now :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Still waiting for reports on St Croix from this last group that just got back on Sat., although the one trip report I am following said that they really enjoyed St Croix, and they were really pleased after all the negative feed back from the first visit there, so I am waiting for her to post about that day!!!
Think she is on Monday right now, and St Croix is Tues.....

Johnna I finally got a package in the mail to you!!!!
You should get it either today or tomorrow :thumbsup2

Okay gang...have a great Monday, I will be checking in on the boards off and on again as usual LOL!!!! :surfweb:

And YES Dave we did miss you and are glad you are back:)

OH I keep forgetting to ask if any of you adventurous men (or women for that matter) wanted to do the "Screamin Girl's Jet Boat Adventure"

Oh wait I forgot DD"s and I are NOT going...so make that The Screamin EAGLE Jet Boat Adventure LOL!!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I will have to check the exact time for sure, but Ron is signed up for the one that is around 9:30 ..this is in St Thomas :boat:

Johnna--The font for the black "Bushwacker Banditos... is CloisterBlackBT and the rest are Cali109. Tell Mark if he finds a better font to repost it so we can change ours too. I just used the fonts I had with PrintShop 21 but I'm sure there are some other fonts that would look better.

Gotta get back to work! TTYL!

Which one are you reading? I've only noticed one and don't think they are past Saturday yet. I'm reading the report from OurOuhana (something like that)

Well I have been playing with backgrounds for my magnets. Still no idea what I'll place, but I made a neat leather background based on the DCL booklet with a personal spin.

When I get home I'll look for nice images for it and create more backgrounds.
I can generate a blank template later if anybody would like to use it for Word.

ChocoKat - How cool!!!!! First Donna, then you... my door signs with clip art images are going to look crappy in comparison to all you talented folks!

Yeah I read the reports too, I am glad people are liking it better.

DH was trying to finalize the plans for our day, we'll go to the beaches he used to frequent when he was a kid, probably do some touristy stuff, go to the rum distillery and pick up a case of flavored rum. He is trying to find out from my brother-in-law which places are the best for eating "local" food.

I asked him if he could think of a beach that was better than others, he said they all were beautiful to him, but that he recommended wearing wet shoes, since some parts can have pebbles, rocks and urchins. He said he did spend most of the time barefoot as a kid running around the beaches and he survived :lmao:

Now he has it in his head that he wants to climb a coconut tree to get me a fresh coconut since he used to do that a lot as a kid. :scared1: Yeah... I might need help keeping him in the ground :lmao:

Aw, thanks, and hey it is all on the tools and training.
If my signs don't look good I might get chased by the secret order of graphic artists. :rotfl:

I use Photoshop and Illustrator most of the time, the problem I am having is that after 8 hours of graphic design at work I get lazy at home. I need to go get me some magnetic paper thingy to start motivating myself. :surfweb:

Chocokat, I love your leather background thingy!
I printed a bunch of pictures for my door but I gave up on trying to put my name on them.
I suck at all that stuff!
I think I might have printed TOO many signs though but I couldn't choose! There were so many cute ones to choose from! I got all my pirate stuff ready to go! pirate: ARRGH!

I hope everyone is having a better Monday than me! My hopes and dreams almost got shattered to a billion pieces right now.
My boss just told me that the branch manager told her to deny my vacation request for the cruise. (Which she ALREADY APPROVED!) He said that I shouldn't be allowed to go anywhere during month end. I've been here for 4 years and never took more that 1 day vacation at a time and the jerk is trying to get my boss to not let me go on this cruise! He's insane!
My boss told him that she wasn't gonna do that to me. She already approved it and knows that I've been planning this since April last year AND it's for my daughters birthday! He didn't even care about that!
So she told him that SHE cares about it and she wouldn't even think of doing that to me. She told me not to worry about his dumb a$$ and enjoy my vacation. She said I work hard for her and I deserve it. Especially after being here for 4 years and never taking more than a day off.
I was like "Thank you boss lady!!"
We don't even get paid for sick days! If I want to get paid, I have to use a vacation day! So that's where a lot of my vacation time went too!

So, the branch manager is NOT my favorite person right now. He's on my "you know what" list.
