February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

Hi Guys- Just to let you know, we will be away for a couple of days from the computer (not a trip like The Storys). DD is having surgery on Monday. She is having her tonsils & adnodes removed. They are also doing a bronchial dilitation and some tracheal scar tissue removal. So, I just wanted to say I will get back to the boards once that is all over. I have to say, I feel okay about it as we have truly one of the best pediatric surgeons in the state.....:thumbsup2
Hope all is well and that The EJKJ Family and the Story Family had safe trips and I will pop in as soon as everything is :thumbsup2 .

Hey BJ, what happened in Vegas did not stay in Vegas did it?:lmao:

Hugs and pixie dust to your DD! :tinker:

I still remember my DD getting her tonsils out when she was in third grade. She cried when we left the hospital because she didn't want ice cream & jello, she wanted STEAK! (spoken like a true farm girl )

We'll be thinking of all of you!

Donna

Tink - all the best to you and DD. I'll be praying for her in church tomorrow.

Our trip was great but we're tired from our 8.5 hour trip today. :faint: Kids are stuck on my shoulders right now. We're dying to see some olympics since we haven't seen ANY all week. Unplugged - remember??? :scared1: It was a bummer to miss all the swimming! So we'll watch whatever is on tonight.

It's good to be home! Johnna :thumbsup2

Here's a smilie from DS: :cool2:

Welcome home! Missed ya here on the boards! Hope you had a fan-tab-ulous trip!

I'm sooo happy today! My hubby, daughter and I went over to the San Pedro to the Port of Los Angeles and I finally got to see the Magic! :yay:
It seems like everyone I know has seen it once or twice since it's been here on the west coast, except me.
It's an absolutely BEAUTIFUL ship! We brought my parents with us too and now they want to do a Disney Cruise too! So we're planning another one for the end of 2009. :woohoo:
Just seeing the ship for the first time up close got me soooo excited for our trip!! I can't wait!! :sail:

All - Tink asked me to post an update about her DD's surgery on Monday. Here is a piece of the email Tink sent:

"Over night she did well and I think she will be back to normal soon. I just need to convince her to try to eat something. Never thought I would
have to try to get her to eat.... I guess it is a first time for everything.

...Recovering with the goal of starting 1st grade in 13 days.....

I am a little busy playing nurse right now, that I can not get to the boards. So if you can let everyone, especially Brenda know that all is good in the Tink Family. Thanks...."

So everything went well with the surgery and DD is healing fine under the loving care of her nursemaid mom. :woohoo:

Glad to hear it Tink!! Post in person when you can.
Love and prayers, Johnna

Sending out lots of hugs and well wishes to our little Miss Tinker:flower3: Without a doubt.. we all know that she is receiveing the VERY Best of care:thumbsup2 Tinker you are such a GOOD MOM!!!!

As far as not getting her to eat...too bad I have already had my tonsils out !!!!! It wouldn't hurt me to miss a meal or two LOL!!!!!

Vegas was fun!!! HOT but fun...highs everyday was in the upper 100's, great pool weather though:thumbsup2 they had reported record highs the week we were there...and at home in Nebraska, they were having record lows...crazy!!!! It ws nice to come home to cooler weather after a HOT week.

We went to Beatles "Love"..we also seen a couple of other shows that we all enjoyed...went to the top of the Eiffel Tower at The PAris (46 floors high) and looked down on the strip..was pretty cool, we really did do alot...by the end of the week, we were all tired and ready to come home!!! As far as the gambling went....Tinker...what happened in Vegas really did stay in Vegas LOL!!!!!

Well... school is under way here ...the girls started on Monday, they were actually ready to go, school for them is more of a social gathering rather than an academic affair :teacher: unfortunatley the homework as well has set in:scared1:

Have a great day to all!!!!!
Brenda:)

Hello to all - I am "unsubscribing" today, as we have moved our reservation to the Jan 31 version of the St Croix Special Eastern - only cost us $64 in total, even though I am having to pay the fuel surcharge (would have been $90 less otherwise!). My DD had a conflict with this cruise and her dance studio, so we were lucky to be able to move our vacation! Hope you all have a wonderful cruise!

It's good to hear that Tink's little girl is doing well! I have been thinking of them and wondering how things went.

I went ahead and booked our flight to MCO on SWA from Kansas City even though I was a little disappointed in the price of the fares. With oil prices going down, I thought SWA might keep the prices about the same as I'm paying for our October trip to WDW. In February, we are paying $149.50 per person for one way but SWA is the only airline offering non-stop flights from KC. We can also fly non-stop on SWA from St. Louis but the fares were the same price as from Kansas City. We could fly Delta and save about $30 per person but then we would have to change planes. I have trouble with my ears hurting on landings so it's worth it to me to pay the extra for a non-stop flight. Besides, I like SWA's cancellation/change policy! (It sounds like I'm trying to convince myself I made the right decision???????)

We will be getting into Orlando about 11 a.m. on Friday, 2/27, and now we can't decide if we want to spend the afternoon at Cocoa Beach or at Universal Orlando so we can go to Citywalk or to WDW. Decisions, decisions....isn't it tough to have this kind of problem.

Did anyone else book on SWA today?

Have a good weekend everyone! I probably won't get a chance to get back on here until Monday as my DS is getting married this weekend!!!!!!!

Donna - totally the right decision to go on SWA! Don't second guess it. We will book tomorrow - our flights are $119 each one way. And we're going down on Thursday to hang out for an extra day; so if you do come to Cocoa Beach, we'll be there. We usually stay at the Residence Inn (free -Marriott points) but I'm sure we'll hook up with Brenda et. al. and have dinner on Friday with them.

Best of luck to you, and DS with the wedding. Have a great time! :yay:

Ciao for now, Johnna

SWA totally a good decision!!! I, like Donna, was a little dissapointed about the airfare price, right now for the date/ time and a nonstop flight, it will cost us $202 per person to fly one-way, which I know is less than any other airline, but, I looked up last years airfare...we got REALLY lucky as we only paid $59 p/p one way!!!!
I plan to book the date and time we want and then just keep cheking for the fare to go down...

I really do love SW for the fact that not only are their fares the lowest (for us anyway) but they let you change your flight and rate w/o ANY penalty..which we all know is pretty much unheard of in any other airline!!!!!

So the plan is to fly down Fri, rent from budget and stay at the Raddison...can't wait:banana:

Donna....congratulations on your sons wedding!!!! Hope the weather is picture perfect for the happy occasion!!!!

hope everyone is doing well, we are in Myrtle Beach right now visiting family wishing we were on the Disney Magic, only got to wait till the febuary 21st, 2009 to get on the boat though :cool1: :thumbsup2 :dance3: :cheer2:

I just wanted to say thank you to all that booked on SWA for this voyage. As a emp of SWA I really want to thank you. For those a little upset about the price Fridays and Sundays are the most expensive days to travel. I would recomend looking at the websight and see if MCO or your home city is the featured destionation of the week. Those are some of our best fares. Also try to use ding. I have heard of some just insanly low fares from that. Any questions I will do my best to help.

Hi All-
Just wanted to pop in to say hi and give you a little update.

First off, thanks JS for posting the up-date. It was soo much easier for me to do it that way. Thanks sooo much.

Second, welcome back to my two special families..... Happy you got away for some time.

Third Donna, I am waiting on the wedding invite so I can help you play Martha Stewart. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Have fun.

aan (my birthday buddy), we can not fly SWA- wish we could. Out of this neck of the woods we ONLY have NWA or Sun Country. This is why the airline cost is such a worry to me. Have not booked yet as I hear to try after Labor Day.

The Tink family usually comes down the Friday before. We get in late, so we just grab dinner and turn in. Last year we stayed at Country Inn MCO and all of the other cruises we stayed at the Hawathorn Inn and Suites. Even though now I am thinking last cruise we should have aimed at a little earlier and joined BJ & Family at the hotel. The only thing is we do not like to monkey with rent a cars, so we use DCL transfers. Plus using NWA we then can take advantage of ship airline check in so therefore we never have to see our luggage until we get to Minnesota after checking it on Friday night. Who knows with the hotel, I never book that until last minute. Think in January last cruise I booked it.

Now about little miss DD..... She is having a lot more pain than I would like. She is crying because her throat and ears are hurting and therefore I keep her medicated with tylenol with codiene. She is sleeping a lot (the medication I am sure), but I just want her to get on the up swing here. The hospital has been great in not calling me, but the less call and times I go in less dead presidents I earn. :headache: I know it is only short lived the  . Maybe when she wakes this AM it will be a different day. Just the getting up every couple of hours at night is making me feel as if I have a newborn baby :scared1: . Trying to keep her drinking as this speeds healing and I can not afford for her to get dehydrated. I've tried to explain that without scaring her though. I know, it just has to hurt sooo bad. I will keep you posted...

BJ, happy to hear school is off to a good start. How is the driving going with DD? Have you guys gotton a second stop light in town yet?:lmao: :lmao:

Well, I will fly away and check the boards before DD wakes. DH will take DS to piano so I may have a few minutes to argue over there...

Oh BTW, JS & BJ, I talked to Rani last week via computer. She is getting ready for that Bar Mitsvah for her oldest. I told her to try not to hit the $35,000 range. She said they will not go back until 2010.

Here is a little pixiedust: for the wedding.....:)

YEAH:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Tinker is back!!!!!! We missed you:hug:

Sorry to hear that your Little Miss Tinker is still having alot of discomfort...that is hard when it goes on for S-ooo many days..here's some pixiedust: for a speedy-ERR... recovery :flower3:

Airfare... I went ahead and booked our airfare w/ SWA, paid $202 P/P oneway. Figured I got the date and time I wanted and so I will just keep checking and hoping that it may go down (fingers crossed:) ) I feel if I can get lucky and check it at the right time, I can get it for $149

Thanks Alan, for the SW info...I should check into the Ding Thing and see what that is about...can I put in my date / time and it will notify me if the price goes down, or does it notify you if the price changes on a random date????

DMMarla...you just must be a world traveler:car: hope you are having fun in Mrytle Beach:)

Dizzy Lizzy....sorry to hear that you will not be crusing with us, but am glad to hear that you are still going only on a different date...since you are setting sail a month before us, you will have to check back in and let us know about all the not to be missed things to do in St Croix :thumbsup2

Vanessa...I remember how excited we all were when we first saw the Disney ship...if you think you were excited just driving by to see it, imagine how EXCITING it will be, knowing that you are driving up to get on the MAgic!!!!

Johnna and Mark...
you may want to start brushing up on your stage performance's..you only have 6 months left!!!! and you both know that we are ALL going to be requesting a number LOL!!!!

Your perfomances on our March 07' cruise was the highlight of our trip, we will expect nothing less this cruise popcorn:: popcorn::

Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend
Brenda:)

Honestly, I have no idea how it works except you download it to your desktop. I have heard of fares between MCO and like Albuquerque for like 35 bucks. I think a lot has to do with somewhat last min travel but I could be wrong.

We booked SW today for Thursday prior - $119/person; don't think they'll get any lower; if so, we could hopefully apply the difference to a return flight if the fares go down; but I doubt it.

Tink - I was thinking about emailing you this evening, so I'm glad you posted instead. Sorry to hear about DD not doing as well as you had hoped - I'm sure she'll turn a corner soon and you'll be wishing she was back in bed rather than running around driving you crazy. :thumbsup2 In the mean time, hang in there.

Ciao for now, Johnna

Hi Guys-
We had a good day yesterday.... So good, I actually sat and posted some of the pictures of the cases to the thread. Oh boy, what was I thinking???? I really do hope it will be just kid request. If I start to get overly crazy, I will go and place a hold on them. I was just sooooo happy I learned how to post pictures... :woohoo: :woohoo: I am off now to buy school uniforms and finishing getting school supplies. Will leave the PMs for now.... :goodvibes
