February 27, 2011 - 4 Night on the Disney Dream!

Got our ressie requests to our TA for today!!! Only 120 days away now :) We are going to really splurge so we requested a CC cabana! We will never be able to afford cruise on the concierge level again, so we are going all out on this one...doing while the kids are young so they won't be able to ask why we aren't getting one again the next time we cruise:lmao:

Do any of the regular posters on WDW Radio know if they are doing an FE exchange as well? There are tons of posts for the cruise, and although I didn't see anything there, some one did mention something on Facebook.

How much was the cabana??

That's more than the per person cost of our cruise! :scared1:
We considered it for our 3 day back in September when we had 12 family members with us, but we just couldn't justify the cost even splitting it 4 ways.

Our TA didn't have an exact price on the cabana, but the threads here have been listing $499 for it. We are splitting it with our parents. There is a great thread on them http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2336376&page=12 here. When our TA made our request, she was told DCL was not accepting ressies for them right now for the cruise, but the request was marked on the reservation. Not sure why that is, but I do hope we are able to officially secure it!

This will probably be a one time deal for us...just like sailing in concierge...simply not practical, but we plan on enjoying the heck outta it :goodvibes

OK, I think I have our plans all set up.

We leave PHX on US Air early in the AM on Friday. Our first class upgrades are already set up so at least it will be a comfortable flight.

After we get to MCO I have a minivan rented from Budget (that I will return Sunday AM) for $116. We drop it off in the AM and ride their shuttle to the port.

I have 2 days reserved at Country Inn and Suites (Kids quarters room) for $154/day (plus taxes). It does not look like priceline will get any rooms for me again this year. There are no rooms at all available now. Probably due to the shuttle launch. Same thing happened to me last year.

We are planning on Dinner at Durango Steakhouse.....

We will have Saturday free.... might do the tour of Kennedy Space Center.

The minivan at Avis for the return at MCO is $75.

Then since our flight is late I got a day room at the Hyatt for $89

Here is what I got from DCL on the Cabanas ....

we are still in the testing phase and only going to the
end of November as of now. We should have more information soon on
further dates.

Thanks for this info! We're flying in on Saturday and trying to figure out how to get to the hotel and then to port. There are 11 of just my immediate family, and an additional 12+ family and friends. I know 14 of us are all flying in together. Looks like it might be cheaper to rent 2 minivans for Sat-Sun then anything else.

Make sure to go to Mousesavers.com for some good codes to save some $$. We found a great code that dropped the price significantly if you used an AmEx.

many good discount codes at flyertalk.com as well.

We only use Budget and Avis because of their ease of rental and their shuttle to/from the port.

Make sure you become part of their frequent renter program. Then you bypass the counter inside MCO (usually long, long lines) and go right to the garage to get your car.

We FINALLY did this after just this past trip after 6 years of trips of waiting in that stinkin' Budget line at MCO. I could not believe I never did it before! Saved a TON of time....that line never moved fast:headache:

Hi all:) Haven't been here in a while just started my Silpada business and have been pretty busy with that. I'm still waiting for our flight home tickets to go down...LOL don't think it's going to happen though. Maddie my 13 yr old doesn't want to go now, she doesn't want to miss school ...she'd rather stay with her BF for a week. Sooo....idk . She did have to make up alot of homework last time . I'm kind of torn between the "family vacation" and letting a teen be a teen. I just hope she doesn't regret it, but she say's she wont . She said she's too old for Disney:eek:

I hope your daughter will change her mind.

To celebrate a milestone birthday a few years ago, I planned to take my two daughters (both college students at the time) on a weekend trip to Disneyland followed by a 4-night Baja Mexico cruise during their spring breaks. The younger daughter had a boyfriend, and I think she thought she would be seeing him if she didn't go on the trip - so she declined to go. (Fortunately it was right before the final payment was made!) She had to stay home during spring break and she didn't get to see the boyfriend. She later regretted not going on the trip, but it took her awhile to admit it. I told her I hoped it topped the "Stupid Things I Did When I Was A Kid" list! :rotfl:

Thanks! I will be sure to do that! And we love to participate in the FE. I have been coming across some good stuff for our upcoming Thanksgviing cruise for the FE. I think I have too much already so that is stuff that can be saved for this Feb cruise!

Too old for Disney? wow!
My son is turning 13 on Sunday and asked for a Disney Cruise for his b-day present. I also have a son turning 18 :scared1: in Dec. and he asked to go to DisneyLand in CA (we live in FL). So for his 18th b-day and senior trip, we are taking him in May.
LOL, I can say my kids are all truely Disney freaks!

As for your DD, dont worry, she will have a great time on the cruise.
The tweens will be in The Edge.
