February 27, 2010 Eastern Cruise on the Magic

Thanks for the welcome to the group! Olivia and I are very excited!!

I work as a Disney Travel Specialist so I coordinate two group Disney cruises each year. For this cruise I am "bringing" 11 families and will help them coordinate all the details. For each cruise I bring along one of my children as a special perk! It's a wonderful way to travel. But we don't really hang out with any of these families or do anything like the FE gifts so we are looking forward to being a part of this group!

We live in northern Minnesota---about 2 hours north of the Twin Cities in a very little town called Motley (unfortunately!).

We will be in stateroom 5013 and are on the early dinner rotation. We are flying in the night before the cruise and staying at Pop Century resort. We haven't decided if we will fly home immediately after the cruise or stay another day at Disney. I have three other children that I will be leaving at home so it can be hard to add any more days to the trip!

Thanks again for including us!!!! :goodvibes

Zipties! I am sure we will bring a few with us since we have them laying around anyway. Here's some places you can find them:

Canada: Canadian Tire would be your best bet. Wal-mart or any auto store has them.

U.S: Target has them! Or you can check K-mart, Wal-mart as well. I would personally check in the automotive section first but you can ask around in the store if they are not there.

Lorna-that is so cool you do that as a job! We will be driving past you on our way to our flight!

I think that the morning-afternoon-after dinner thing works for me. If anyone wants to be more specific that is okay too.

I would also like to have the FE cutoff be at least 3 weeks due to getting everything organized and ready.

I have seen FE's on ebay by looking up "Fish Extender!" How much more simple can it get?! I forgot to look for supplies to make my own today. I don't know if I'll make a cheap one or actually buy one. I have NO idea what I'd do with it after and if I spend more money on it I don't want it to get dusty in a closet.

Hope this helps all!

Joanne---I have chartered a bus from Pop Century on the morning on Feb 27th. You are certainly welcome to join us if you would rather not head back to the airport. The exact cost always depends on our final numbers but it is usually $20 per person. The Disney bus is $35/person so it is a decent savings. We usually leave around 8:30 AM on Saturday morning so we can get to the port nice and early. If you are interested in joinin us just let me know!!! Lorna :)

lorna so nice of you to offer to include us.
just wanted to check re the return trip from port canaveral to orlando. when you book with disney is it an all or nothing transfer there and back. or can i cancel the orlando to port portion and keep the port to pop century portion
i dont want to confuse disney and end up stuck at the port on march 6 . this is our first cruise ever and im new to all of this. I dont want to be worrying that ill be standing at the curb and im not on the disney list on march 6. It is just josh and I going so i want all my T's crossed and my I's dotted as they say. I want to leave all stress at home and just enjoy myself.

currently we are to catch the bus from airport to port
and then return from port to pop century.

any advice is greatly appreciated. joanne and josh

You can have just one way transfers. Did you book directly through DCL? If so, just call them and have them modify your reservation for one way transfers (port back to Disney World). The cost will be $35/person. It is not a problem to have one way transfers----people do it all the time! In fact, if you didn't have any transfers on your reservation at all you could still add a one way transfer back to Disney World during your cruise. You just have to go to Guest Services and they can add it for you! You won't get stuck at the port!!! If you used a travel agent for your reservation you can do the same thing by asking them to make the change for you.

But please do whatever makes you the most comfortable! We are happy to have you join us but feel free to stick with the Disney bus if that seems like a better fit. Just let me know either way!!! :goodvibes

lornak...Cool Job !! If any one in your group wants to join us they are certainly welcome !! My son and his family used to live in Rochester MN for 4 yrs.
Tell Olivia she must be a very special girl to go on the cruise ! Is this her 1st ?

seashell...thanks for the info on the zipties. Is this what some people use on their luggage ?

bigturkey...I did a search for Fish Extender ideas and after scrolling over 3-4 pages, I found a thread for Homemade FE gifts, Adult FE gifts, Favorite FE Gifts.A good source for inexpensive bulk items check out Orientaltrader.com

everyone...I need : Cabin #'s , Diser's Name, Who's in Cabin, Ages of Children, * ALLERGIES *

As soon as I get several responses I'll update the FE List:grouphug:

Hi!
Yes, I the zipties are what people use on luggage to hold the zippers shut. In Canada we are still allowed to use locks but when I have been in the U.S. flying I have thought zipties would be a good idea. You normally would get a whole bunch in 1 package. They are normally clear or white. The only thing is I am going to make sure that I ask my room steward the night before we leave if they can bring something to cut them off because they are very strong!

Here is our f/e info:

Cowgirl0524/SuperNervousErie: Larry(52), Debbie(49), Greg(25), Bethany(19) (4 adults)
Cabin #: 1052

ErieCruiser08: Amy and Chris (both will be 28 at time of sailing) 2 adults
Cabin #: 1050

We are hoping to get bumped up to deck 2, our TA is checking on it for us! We will let you know of any changes.

Thanks again for organizing the f/e exchange!

Hi again Lorna
I talked to Josh about your very generous offer to let us go on the charter with you from the Pop Century. He said that means we dont get to go on the porthole disney bus as we call it. when we went to WDW our last trip we saw those buses at the airport and Josh said wouldn't it be cool if we were getting on that bus. Well now we are and I know it is a bit more expensive but I want him to experience the whole adventure. I know that sounds so silly but we are huge Disney fans and dont laugh but even take pictures of the buses and us on them . Thanks again for your generosity and were looking forward to meeting you and Olivia on the cruise. As Gina said please invite any of your families that would like to join us to do so. We would love to have them. The more the merrier. talk soon joanne and josh

Erie...Thanks for the info. I hope you get Deck 2. But really, Deck -10 would be fine on the Magic !!

Seashell...I always bring scissors in my checked bag

I have to agree with Josh. The porthole bus is really cool ! We usually have Tiffiney Town Car take us to the port, but we'll be on the bus this time as we are staying at the Hyatt the night before. Can't wait! They show a video on the bus.

Has anyone heard about the new show on the Magic....a Villains show to take the place of Golden Mickey:sad2:. I think the new show will be great especially for the boys onboard, but I hate to see GM go.
I heard they'll begin rehersals for the Villains Feb 1,2010 and will debute Mar 1. That's us !:dance3:

WOW !!!

I'm excited. I just bought my FE from ebay !

I'm really excited because we've had great response today !

Remember, you don't have to participate in the Fish Extender Gift Exchange to join our Dis Group.

If you have friends or family on this sailing date pass the word !

We'll have a quick get together on Embarkation Day. Promanade Lounge
at 3:00 PM, just before the Boat Drill. Come say "hi" to your Dis Friends !I'll give everyone in the FE a list of all cabins, etc.

If everyone wants to have an additional get together we can arrange that ,too.:grouphug:

Oh yeah, oh yeah :woohoo::woohoo:

More people, coming on the cruise and doing FE's. Oh yeah :woohoo:

I have a question about the Promenade lounge. Is it super big and will there be a ton of people in it or is there a certain spot we should meet in it? If it isn't super big then that's fine! I just have no idea how large it is.

Oh-I am excited for the DCL busses too! I am kinda nervous about finding the spot to catch them and what time to get on them. I just don't want to miss that boat.
For those who have stayed at the Hyatt what do you do for breakfast? I am thinking of just bringing something small for us but it really depends on what time we would board the boat. I dont' want to be starving.

Seashell--there is a McDonald's almost right outside of the Hyatt at MCO. I think you can see the McD's when you walk out the hotel entrance. It is inside the airport. We ate there for bfast before we caught the DCL bus. And there is no way you will miss that bus. DCL reps are everywhere guiding you where to go. Makes everything go smoothly.

seashell...the Promenade Lounge is small, you won't miss us ! It's on Deck 3 between Lumieres and Parrot Cay. This is the deck where you enter the ship.

Erie Cruiser is correct, there are several Disney reps around that AM. We will be there and I'll PM my cell ph # to you so you can call me that Fri pm or Sat am. Also, be sure and tell Hyatt when you ck in that you're going on the Disney Cruise and they'll tell you where to go the next am. There should be a DCL rep in the hotel. I heard that we will be able to check in for the cruise right at the hotel. I'll call DCL today and verify.

The MCO has a Krispy Kreme Donut in their food court as well .That's where I'll be heading !!:rolleyes1

Gina

Seashell......just talked w/ DCL. They said to let the Hyatt know when you check in that you're on the Disney Cruise. They will tell you where to meet and will arrange for your luggage to be picked up. :grouphug:
