February 27, 2010 Eastern Cruise on the Magic

Hi all --

Wow, this is a busy thread! I'm going to have to stay up late tonight to read through it all. We'd like to join in, since we will be going on this cruise too -- hooray! :yay::yay:

We are: me (Stacey), DH Evan, DD Jessica (7), and DD Samantha (4). We will be in cabin # 5520. We'll be staying offsite for a couple days at WDW before the trip.

And if it's not too late, we would love to join the FE too. We've been on one other Disney cruise (a 3-day on the Wonder), and my then 5-year old thought the FE was the best thing about the whole trip. She LOVED delivering the goodies, and then checking to see if we had gotten any. So, please -- sign us up!

We are so excited about this trip! It can't come soon enough.

Terrific! I'm going to get right to work on our FE items!

And I'm going to do my best to get us onboard in time for the DisMeet, but it will require me to hurry my DH through his lunch at Mama Melrose's, so we'll see how that goes. He's not one to give up on warm chocolate truffle cake easily! :rotfl:

Looking forward to seeing you -- soon! :woohoo:

Fun time ahead !!! Enjoy that cake !

Does anyone know how to paste an image on here? I copied and tried to paste our logo onto the Master List but no luck. If anyone knows how, could you go ahead and do it if you have the logo in your computer.

josh and i are so excited for our first cruise ever and its with the mouse.
however watching the news its seems not quite right for us to have this wonderful vacation when so many lives have been lost, so many people have lost everything, and so many are homeless and starving. in situations like this does dcl ever start a fundraising campaign from all the people that set sail with them in the caribbean to help all those that need it in the caribbean.
im sure like us many of you folks have donated but i certainly would again on the ship. just think that many cabins by that many cruises times a small donation would add up to be so much help for these people. anyway just thinking out loud. anyone else is welcome to think outloud with me

I certainly agree that it's hard, sometimes, to see what's going on in Haiti without feeling a little guilty about planning for a cruise. I heard this weekend that RCI will continue stopping in Labadee ( Haiti). The Haitian gov said they need the money so RCI should continue to stop. I don't think I could relax on the beach knowing how many closeby were suffering !

I ,actually wondered myself if DCL would be having some kind of fundraising. I know one of the cruise lines has a walk-a-thon around the deck to raise money for breast cancer.

I am very proud of my oldest son. He is making plans to go to Haiti. He is an Orthopedic surgeon.

it is awesome when someone goes to help in an emergency. that is putting action to words. you should be very proud of him

ATTENTION !

MICKEY'S MAGICAL CASTAWAYS

I'm making name tags for everyone for our DisMeet, but I still need some names :

Feista- parents' names

We are going out-of-town Jan 21-25 to Houston to see Liam, our new Grandson !! He's 4 weeks old, born Dec 20 and I can't wait !!!

When I get back ,I'll print out the FE update . If anyone gets their cabin assignments and are planning to do the FE ,please let me know.

Reminder : Feb 7 is our FE deadline !!

Hi again! Mom's name is Mary, dad's name is Lee. The last name is the same as my user name - Feiste (E at the end not A)

Thanks!

My daughters (12 and 9) are looking for friends to email prior to the cruise. We have done this on many of our past cruises, and my daughters still keep in touch with their cruise buddies. If anyone has kids that would be interested in this PM me. I can give you their email, or you can give me yours, whatever you prefer.

5 weeks from today we leave!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

For what it's worth, on three of our four cruises Disney movies were premiering in theaters while we were cruising. All of those movies also premiered on board, at midnight of opening day. I am very hopeful that this trend will continue for "Alice in Wonderland", and if it does we WILL be at the midnight viewing! popcorn:::thumbsup2

Has anyone besides me wondered what it would feel like if there was an earthquake in the vicinity of the ship while you were sailing? I can't get the thought out of my head :confused:

How long does it take to receive passes if you complete the service for the "get a day passes?" It might be worth trying, but I'm not sure if I'm too late.

What time will everyone be arriving at the port on Saturday? We will be there bright and early, hoping to get one of the first boarding passes...

of the ship with the characters. need i say more. im 44 going on 6 and loving every minute of it. looking forward to meeting everyone :cool1:

Fellow Magical Castaways:
I have been reading quite a few posts on these boards and have heard a lot of stories about not-so-successful pairings in the dining rooms. One poster mentioned that he had the most luck by arranging table companions through these boards prior to departure. So I thought I would give it a try.

Common issues seem to be whether one drinks or not, current stage in life (i.e. no kids, retired, small kids, etc.), and of course, willingness to participate in conversation with table mates. My story is that I do enjoy wine with dinner and will also probably partake of a frozen adult beverage or two by the pool during the day time. I have two small boys traveling with me, ages 8 and 5. DH will be joining us for further adventures after the cruise. And since I'm writing all this, you've probably already figured out that I'm a willing participant in table conversation.

I am currently in the early seating but would be willing to switch to the late seating - and am considering it anyway.

Would any of our fellow Castaways be willing to be table mates with us?

Looking forward to it - it's getting really close!

Ok, are you ready. No, really ready??????

Mickey's MAGIC'al Castaways have.......1,2,3,4,5 Fridays til our cruise!!!

Can you beleive it??!!?? :mickeyjum

We are getting so excited!!! Our Magical Express info and luggage tags came a couple days ago for the 2 nights prior we are staying at WDW. Soon our cruise docs should be arriving too!!!

I read on a thread on the cruiseline boards that all DCL Feb. cruises are sold out! Wow! I guess we are all lucky we booked early enough!

:yay:

I also read on here somewhere, that they are allowing the kids to move around too different clubs? Due to siblings, cousins, and maturity/activity levels. I could be wrong? I think it's a great idea.

Hello, I just tried to price the cruise for our friends and they said our cruise is completly sold out !!! Someone is making money in this economy ! Go Disney Cruise Line !

Yes I heard they are allowing the kids to move around to the different areas if they wish I think its great !

Countdown !!!!!! :cool2:

Hi,
Not sure if there is a place I am suposed to put in this info so I am going to place it here for the list of Disboard members on the cruise:
We are 2 Adults (Wife and Husband) Norma & Brian and 2 daughters: Sabrina - 7 and Julia - 5. We are at the Hyatt Orlando Airport the night before and staying a couple of days at WDW after the cruise. We have early dinner seating.

We have some questions that I am hoping people can help out on:

We have a reservation at Palo's on the St. Maarten night. What happens with the kids for dinner (we have an early reservation)?

We have not booked any excursion for St.Maarten. what have others booked or suggest?

What is meant by Formal and semi-Formal dress - I take it one night is formal dinner and one is semi formal but all others are casual?

Thanks

Welcome!

On your PALO night, you can either feed the girls early and then leave them at the club, or (easier) you can take them to the club in time for the club counselors to take them to dinner at Topsiders (someone correct me if I have the wrong buffet name)...

We've booked the French Riviera Beach Break for St. Maarten, but I'm not convinced we'll keep it. Might change it to the Afternoon Beach Break or the Catamaran snorkeling thing... I wanted to do the Downhill Rainforest Trek, but it appears it is booked up. :( I guess I'm concerned that the water will be tooooooo cold for me.

Formal is Black Tie... but not mandatory. You'll see people in all kinds of clothes every night. Cruise casual is basically no shorts or tank tops in the dining rooms... Capri's are fine for ladies, and nice shorts are ok for kids. There is a lot of debate about whether jeans are permissible in the dining rooms... we've never done jeans at dinner. PALO requires at least a shirt and tie for men, I believe.
