February 27, 2010 Eastern Cruise on the Magic

Happy New Year All

I have been told there is a way to get a Disney character to call you at home. I think the kids would love this but have not figured out how to do so on the web site. Anyone knw how?
Thanks

Wish I knew. I'll check around and see if I can find out :grouphug:

I think we'd like to be involved in the Fish Exchange, but a question: If the list of participants becomes incredibly long, would we consider splitting it? I'm not sure I'd have the space for 50 small presents in my luggage, and I would be concerned about the increasing cost of participating. Thanks!

I'm with you ! Right now we have 10 cabins ( but I say 11 cause Cowgirl has 2 couples in their cabin ), 19 adults, 8 children ( 4 boys,4 girls ) + your family.

Who all is in your cabin ?

The deadline for joining the FE Exchange is FEB 7

I would say ,if we get more than 20 cabins we'll split the group. What does everyone think about that ? :confused3

This will be our first cruise and I know most of us are excited. My wife, and younger 9yr old son Sebastian (Sebi) are already packing. I'm a little concerned how my 19yr old son will like it. He's to old for the teen club and is convinced he will not meet many young adults. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Sebastian "Sebi" (9)

I have picked the French Riviera Beach Rendevous for an excursion in St Maarten for my boys and I - any thoughts on that from experienced cruisers? My 5 year old is a little young for snorkeling and we're beach people in general.

As for Palo, I had originally booked Tuesday but then read somewhere that Tues was the night of the Pirate party. Is that true? If so, I will feel better about cancelling my reservation because now there aren't any more available except for the first and last evenings. Do you know if more Palo opportunities pop up when we're on board?

Hi ! WELCOME !!
You are now officially a member of MICKEY'S MAGICAL CASTAWAYS !!

I did some checking and it seems that the Magic has a "College Club" Meet n' Greet the 1st night on the ship. It's for 18-21 year olds to help them get to know others their age. Then they can get together whenever. Memo's card ( KTTW card) will have a "B" on it. This says that he is over 18 but not drinking age. He can go to any of the nightclubs, the adult pool, the Cove Cafe...coffee,etc hangout. The evening entertainment in the lounges is fun...comedians,magicians,kareoke,etc. There are shows in the main theater if he's into Disney that are Broadway quality. He might enjoy chating with the crew. Many are his age ! Hope this helps.

I'm excited for you guys ! Your 1st cruise !!! WOW !!! I went on my 1st cruise 34 years ago ( my honeymoon ). This is our 20 something cruise, I can't remember exactly and I still get just as excited when I board that ship !!!!!!!

I'll be updating our Master List later today. If you want to add any more info like diner seating time, cabin #, shore excursions, pre or post cruise plans, hobbies, occupation let me know.

Also, feel free to join our gift exchange, but no pressure. If you want info about the FE, I'll let you know.

Looking forward to meeting you !!

You will really enjoy the beach excursion ! We've been to Orient Beach several times and I love the wide ,white sand beaches..so soft on your feet. The ocean is gentle , just right for kids ! We usually go to Bikini Beach. But there's several good places. If you wanted to go on your own, taxis are $15 each way. And no trouble getting one. Last time our driver said he'd pick us up at a certain time and didn't want to be paid until he came back.

If you want to go to PALO, as soon as you board the ship go immediately to Diversions ( a lounge just to the right as you board ). The PALO staff will be there and they always save some reservations to be booked on the ship.

a little late, again, and howdy to the new cruisers........

Mickey's MAGIC'al Castaways have.......1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 Fridays til our cruise!!!

I have updated the master list on page one

Hint - if you have alot of things to plug in, i.e. battery chargers, cell phones, laptops or whatever, bring a small powerbar. Not many outlets in your cabin.

soon, so very soon.......:thumbsup2

Just wanted to update my info. Now that the holidays are over I will be checking the boards more.

Looks like we have been switched to first seating for dinner. I am not sure about FE game yet.

Haven't signed up for any excursions yet- not sure what to do with 2 little ones.
Eating at Palo the St. Martin night (I think). Couldn't get into brunch (except on a port day and would like to get off the boat.

My 3 year old is so excited, she can't wait!! I am hoping that there will be someone close in age in our group that she can 'get to know' beforehand as she will separate better if she already knows someone.

Hi Spooner,
Where in RI are you coming from? My SIL lives out there now. She is in Coventry.

A few questions ...

Feista... I need your first names for the FE...are your parents doing the FE ?

Austin 77...Are you doing the FE ?

Spooner...sorry, I couldn't remember if you were or weren't doing the FE ?

TalRay....I need your first names for the FE

Silv 01....so sorry, no luck finding info on the characters calling at home.
Maybe someone else has heard of this ?

Later...Gina:grouphug:

Talray has Talena, Kurt and Ethan.

Question for cruisers: We reserved a Cat 6 cabin and were put on GTY status without requesting it. The cruise line called my agent yesterday and offered to upgrade us to Cat 4 for $300. Is that common? Is that a good deal? I turned it down, though they said we could still call until Friday if we change our mind.

Thanks!

Talray...Sounds like a good deal to me. Cat 4 is 304 sf compared with 268 sf for Cat 6. But you might post the question on the main disboards/cruise board. There are alot more repeat cruisers there.

Thanks for the names .

it all depends on if you can afford it. One time, we were upgraded from a cat 7, navigators balcony (solid wall) to a cat 4, free of charge, the day before we sailed. It is slightly bigger. The difference was that it had a fold down bed from the wall plus the bed that drops out of the ceiling. So the stateroom was esentially about three feet longer.
it's a gamble anyways you look at it. If you turn it down, they may offer it to you for free later on........tough on. If not, you are still happy with what you booked and paid for.

I don't have anything useful to say. Just that we are in 2010 which makes our cruise so much closer. Yee haw!
