February 26, 2011 - 7 Night Caribbean Sailing

We'll be at the port at 10:30 too...Look for two brunette girls in white capri pants and turquoise tank tops that have rhinestone Mickey's on them (my kids!)...hopefully you can't miss us! Geeze, that is assuming they'll let me still pick out their outfits...since they're 11 and 8...and incredibly independent!!!! Would be good to say hi before we board! :)

Cassie..that is good news that you can cruise! Hope everything goes smoothly during your travel!

Very glad to hear everyone is getting healthy! Excellent!

Travel safe everyone! Wishing you all worry-free packing and travel!

Hello all...

Safe travels to all. Looking forward to meeting you all...I can't wait.

We will arrive at the port around 10:30 am. Not sure yet what I'm wearing..my name is Monika...I have brown hair and I'm 5'4"...I will be wearing a lime green necklace with a Mickey silhouette on it. My DH...Michael...5'11" and according to him--perfectly greyed hair. He will be wearing a light blue golf shirt that has the DCL logo embroidered on left side of shirt. Michael says we will be the ones that look like tourists getting ready to board the ship.:cool1:

Cassie...very happy to hear that you and Mike are going on the cruise. See you on Saturday.

I am ready for this cruise. See you Saturday. Take care....:flower3:

My girls will be in jumpers with twirl skirts. The jumper top is blue with rhinestone Mickey sailor Heads on them and the skirts are alternating stripes with blue minnie dots and red with Mickey and Minnie on them.

I can't wait. Only one more day of work.

I don't know yet how we'll be dressed as my bags aren't packed yet. On Tuesday evening, I got hit by a massive food infection and was in the bathroom until this morning. Not fun! I am better now.

Cassie : Glad to know your husband is better now.

We are leaving the airport at 10 AM, so I guess we'll be at the port around 11 AM on Saturday.

We are supposed to fly tomorrow morning. I am a bit worried as they forecast 15 cm of snow and huge wind. Let's hope it passes during the night.
My girls are pretty excited : My tween said that she decided to sleep on the bottom bunk as : during the night, you will hear booommmmbiiidddaaaabiiiddoooo and that will be me crashing on my sister. And the baby this moring got her fancy shoes out and said : This is what I'll wear on the plane tomorrow (instead of running shoes) because we have to be pretty on the plane, hein mommy?

We are here safe and sound in sunny Orlando. We drove down last night and hope to get an early check in at the hotel we are staying at tonight. Once showers are done we are heading to Kennedy Space Center, as of right now the launch is schedule to go at 4:50 PM. Temp right now is high 60's, but the sky is blue and lots of puffy clouds. :cool1:

Looking forward to meeting everyone on Saturday. We have the 3 boys, the eldest is 6ft, probably won't be smiling....teenagers!!! has brown hair, middle son has blonde/brown hair and youngest has black hair. He will probably be bouncing around the terminal. If you hear an english accent from anyone with these kids then that will be us:rotfl2: I will probably be the tired looking one as I am planning on running the 5K that morning as I have started running. I keep asking my husband if I am too big to run, but he keeps telling me that you have to start somewhere - needless to say he did not answer my question:confused3 Anyway regardless I am planning on doing it.

Safe travels to you all as you head down and will see you all on Saturday. Cassie glad to hear you are still able to make the cruise but not good that DBF has to have surgery.

Ssoooooo excited! I have been such a procrastinator! Going last minute shopping to buy a few things tomorrow. We'll be at port around 11am or so. We'll be the ones with a bright red wheelchair! ;)

I've got all our magnets decore printing out so I'm ready!! :cool1:

Getting ready to leave for Baltimore. We are spending the night close to the airport. Our flight leaves early tomorrow morning.

Safe travels to all.

Hendy Clan...glad you made it safely to Orlando...enjoy the launch!!!!

See everyone on Saturday...take care....:flower3:

I got to finish work early, just running around to bank and drug store picking up last minute things.

We are leaving for Buffalo tonight ahead of the storm that is to arrive tomorrow. Perhaps a foot of snow, lets hope we leave on time.

Oh well, Hakuna Matata. I am now in vacation mode, just need to figure out a fish extender (this should be fun)

Cheers.

I finished packing all but my DHs bathroom bag, that will wait until tomorrow morning. Feels great to have that done!

Just checked in on our flights! In 24 hours we will be about half way to Orlando!!!!

Today is my DD's birthday! She is 7 today. She requested going out to Don Pablos tonight so instead of a birthday party with the family we just invited them to all come with us. Not sure if this is the best idea the night before we leave but how can we not celebrate 7 on her birthday!

DD3 and I both have bad colds! I hope the FL weather clears us up! I don't want to get confined to our room or worse refused boarding!

Looking forward to spending a Magical week with you all! :cheer2:

I am laughing...should make a big sign that says "HEY...meet here!" so we could spot each other in the port terminal! I'm sure we'll figure it out... :)

We are so excited! Worried about the weather a bit...but it looks like everything should clear up before we fly tomorrow.
:woohoo: This icon is from my 8 year old DD!!! Woo-hoo everyone...we're almost there!

Safe travels everyone! We'll try hard to bump into everyone...if not, we'll be at the 3pm promanade lounge...

Take care!
Sally

Weather here today reached a high of 84 and it was most welcome. Left Lake Buena Vista to head to see the shuttle at 12 noon and got there at 3:30 pm. Traffic was horrific. Got to see the Disney Dream, she was in port and looks amazing. I felt for the Disney cruise buses trying to get to the port, those people must have been worried sick they would miss the boat. The launch went up on schedule, it was awesome and amazing to watch and gave me goose bumps. My DS told me that they were in God's hands now until they returned to earth- I told him that yes God would take great care of them while they are away from home:love: The Disney Dream played it's horn when the shuttle went up and everyone started cheering, even with the nightmare traffic conditions I am so glad we did this.

Traffic was even worse coming back, left Kennedy Space Center at 7 pm and arrived back at the hotel at 11:30 pm. After driving 14 hours last night to get down here we are fried..... I guess maybe overtired if anything so thought I would post here.

We hope to be at the port around 10:30 am and I have made notes of all those who mentioned what they were wearing so if you see some lunatic checking out everyones clothes that will be me:rotfl2:

That is awesome! I'm glad you were able to make it to see the launch. I bet that was quite an experience. I hope you can get some sleep tonight. That is a lot of driving.

I just had my mini panic attack. I was getting all my travel documents in order and checked my boarding pass and noticed that the baby was not listed. I thought I'd added her. Fortunately Southwest was Open with no wait and they confirmed that she is on my ticket already. The flight isn't full right now, so hopefully I'll be able to use a seat for her.

I think we are packed now, except for the diaper bag and I'll do that in the morning. I feel like we have way too much stuff. Of course one bag is just snorkel gear, and one bag is bottles, pump stuff etc. 9 bags which includes our carry ons, 2 car seats and a stroller.

Now that I am all packed. My work is finally done (last email sent at midnight). I am going to shut down my computer until March 6th.

Hello everyone,

Interesting how on a ship, I barely saw any of you, not to even cross paths!

How did you like your cruise?

I am very happy about it. So are my girls.

I need rest today!

Hey everyone!

We arrived home last night and spent it unpacking. Today is laundry and clean up the house day :sad2:

It was wonderful meeting some of you at the Dis Meet the first day of the cruise. I ran into Hendy Clan a few times and had the table next to Grits each night. I can't believe all the great swag we got in our fish extender! I finally got to try the Canadian version of Smarties. I will say our M&Ms are better ;)

I'm not sure what happened to lindleyfamilycruise and pamsacruzin? Hopefully they were there!

Hope you all arrived home safe!

Hi everyone! Did the cruise go by fast or what?! And, ITA...only saw a couple of *us* on the ship....too funny! Thank you soooo soooo much for all of the amazing FE treats. Man, you guys did some really awesome gifts. We didn't even think of bringing anything super special for the character autograph's (though I did drop off pillow cases) so to whomever it was that gave us the little books and the big 5x7ish stationary pads --- that was so appreciated and the pens also! I LOVE the Disney picture frame!!!! One of many favorite experiences was delivering the FE gifts on the different floors and seeing the decorated doors here and there.

Still cannot believe we had 2 emergency stops....but thankful it wasn't my family and hopefully those folks are on their way back to good health.

Back to the land of laundry................:woohoo: ummm, NOT!

Welcome home!

Sorry we missed the meet the first day and consequently may have seen some of you but never known it. LOL. My daughter decided she just had to go to the Mickey Pool.

We had the best week. I just finished unpacking. I have washed all the landry, but can't put the girls clothes away until tomorrow as they are both sleeping.

I'm trying to download pictures now and hope to do a trip report next weekend.

THis was the perfect vacation and just what we needed, especially me. Everyone was so friendly. Megan absolutely adored the kids club.

I'll be honest with you I was having so much fun that I wasn't even that disappointed that we missed castaway Cay Friday. I would have loved to have gone but we had such a lot of fun Friday regardless.

I have to give huge kudos to DCL. I accidently left a bag in the terminal at Port canaveral. Somehow between when they were all pointed out and counted by the porter and getting on the porter's truck one of the bags was missed. Before I even realized it, I had a call from DCL's lost and found letting me know it was there. Of course I didn't get that message until after I got home. It took me forever to get through DCL's phone line to get the # to the lost and found but I talked with them and they are sending my bag tomorrow. I would have been very bummed to lose my snorkel gear, beach gear and swim suits.

Thanks for the awesome FE gifts. If I forgot to put my name on your gift, I provided the pirate pencil cases and the mickey head clothes pin magnets. Some of the magnets did not survive the trip well and the magnet part had fallen off. I hope I got you all magnets with magnets attached.

I somehow managed to lose 7lbs on the cruise. I guess all those laps I did on deck 4 walking my baby girl so she would nap each day did their job. I loved walking on deck 4.

Peachy green : We must have seen each other! We were at Tea with Alice together (just ready another of your posts). The room was packed, but still.

Has anyone gotten reimboursed for port fees yet? As I used an agent, I don't know how it will happen.

I had a credit on the CC I used posted sometime in the past couple of days. It was about $36 for the 4 of us.

I bet we did see each other. I'm almost done with my trip report. I've written up through St. Thomas.

I had a rude awakening coming home. I had to travel on 2 separate business trips this week so from Saturday to Saturday I was on a boat, 8 planes in 6 states and every timezone and 4 time zones (not including coming back from Atlantic on the way back from St. Thomas). Then we got to change to Daylight savings time last night. I don't know which way is up right now.

It is hard to imagine that it has been 9 days since we got off the cruise. Now that the depression has lifted lol... I wanted to say a big thank you for all the cool FE gifts we loved all of them. Too funny Cassie that you liked m&ms better, my kids fought over the Smarties, they like them better, but that could be because my family used to send Smarties from England all the time when they were small.

Monika, I felt like I was stalking you on the ship, everywhere Jay and I went we always seemed to bump into you and Michael and it was nice getting to know you guys a little better.

Cassie, thank you for being my call on a friend at the Disney Vacation Club desk, and an even bigger thank you for knowing the answer, you walked by just at the right time:thumbsup2. Hope your DBF Mike is feeling better or is he still waiting for surgery?

It was great meeting up with all those who attended the meet and greet on the Saturday afternoon. If possible Monika, could you email me a copy of the picture you took, I can PM you my email address, I would love to add it to my scrapbook when I start it. I am scrapbooking in April and have plans to complete my vacation album that weekend.

We are planning cruise #3 with either the Disney Dream next March 2012 (I think it is the 22nd) for the 5 day with two stops at Castaway Cay or on March 24th for the 6 day Western Carribbean on the last trip for the Magic - We are conflicted because we would love to be on the new ship, but it is a little cheaper to do the 6 day, we love the Magic and our youngest son Matthew just loved the Edge. He made some great friends and loved, loved, loved the counselors, they are the reason why he wants to go on the Magic. He even cried on the last evening because he had to say goodbye to them. (Not such a big tough 11 year old - it was really sweet though). Our eldest son who will be 17 doesn't want to go and we don't have any family in the states to keep an eye on him if we go without him - ugh....

Well we had a great cruise even if we didn't get to CC on the Friday and felt we were on a roller coaster ride on Thursday night (I won't be booking forward cabins anytime soon:rotfl2:

Hope everyone has a peaceful evening.....:cheer2:
