February 25th Magic Cruise Board

Hi everyone!

I just found this board and this is our first Disney Cruise! I will be traveling with my DH and our kids: DD (6), DS (3) and DS (2). We're so excited!

I'm just learning about everything now...tonight is the first I've heard of FE! I see there was a cutoff a few days ago...is that to let you know that we'd like to participate in trading surprises? I'd love to join in if it's possible.

I would also love a magnet!

It sounds like there are so many fun things ahead! Please clue me into anything else I might need to know.

I went a ahead and added you to the FE list since I had not sent it out as a final. What is your email address and I will send it to you.

The FE list is final as I am sending out the final right now!

I know there are some room numbers missing either because some of you don't have them or I may have missed the email. We will make sure we bring copies to the cruise and everyone will be able to update their cabins (please upgrade us, please upgrade us....).

There are quite a few folks on there so we will look at designated delivery days over the next week or so and assign days if everyone is good with that.

I'm with the majority and will do what everyone else wants, but - my vote is for not having assigned dates/time for delivery. My favorite thing about cruising is not having to be somewhere at a certain time! Without knowing what each day's Navigator looks like and which days we'll have more free time, I'd hate to commit to a certain day.

You will not know this until you check in at port. The rotation will be on your KTTW card. You can call DCL ahead of time and request a rotation and they will tell you that it is just that a request and they will do their best to honor it

Now that we have our super fantastic graphic, I am going to make door magnets!! They will either be printed directly on magnetic paper, or on heavy card stock then laminated, with magnet strips on the back. Depending on how I am able to save and enlarge the image, I will probably make them about 6"x6".

I am happy to make one for anyone else who would like one. Please just PM me with your cabin number and I will stop by and stick on your door sometime on our first day. Please send your request by January 31, and I will post a list here to make sure no one gets forgotten!

We would love to have a magnet for our door. Cabin #5131. Please use that cabin for the Fish Extender list, too (I didn't realize that we hadn't provided it yet).

I will be labeling my 2.5 quart Ziplock bags tonight in preperation for starting to pack them This weekend!!!!!!!!

But Friday (after i sleep in) I plan on doing some "adding to", to my Ball Gown for formal night. I bought the most beautiful lace and plan to do an overlay with it, of some sort. (Dear God, I am soo worried that i will drop something on it or spill somethng on it....I will have to drink White wine that night, and eat only things that are not greasy and that would not leave a stain.

I hope that there is Karaoke ....or Match your Mate on Formal night, would like to do something fun in my Ball gown.

I have never seen the Show that they have on Formal Night either so i guess we will try for that before Dinner.......or if i did i slept through it. Many of the shows our first cruise i slept through.....The Theater seems to make me a bit sea sick, so most of our first cruise shows i slept through....ughh
Since then we have been skipping most shows.

I have started packing as well since our summer clothes aren't a necessity right now (just got a foot of snow)! My husband thinks I'm crazy but I didn't see him volunteering to do it! LOL! I also had to start calling my son's friends mom's to see if we could borrow "good clothes" for dinner! It will be amazing to see him out of jeans , for once! Anyhoo, off to bed to dream about everything I'm forgetting. If we are assigning days, which I am for, maybe we can just pick they day but no times! And if you can't make it on your day, don't stress, just do it the next! Cheers!

Started packing too!! DH thinks I'm crazy to start so early, but I'm glad I did. Realized that DD no longer fits into many of her dinner attire dresses so we needed to venture out to get new ones. DH will usually wait to start packing the night before we leave and usually forgets something- dress socks, dress pants, dress shoes( you know the things you need to meet the PALO dress code)

Can't believe we are almost at the 30 day mark

It's been a crazy week! Busy & stressed at work, the DIS boards haven't liked me signing on, DS had a birthday party to attend, we're wallpapering and painting our spare room, you know how it goes! I'm motivating DH to get the spare room done, as once it's put back together the suitcases are coming out! That is where i do my packing!

OhioKim - welcome Buckeye sister! Where are you located? We are in Sandusky, but are flying out of Columbus early on 2/24 for the cruise! It's snowing like crazy here today. Fingers crossed for good weather on the 24th! I don't care what happens after that! I'll stay in FLA longer if needed! 35 days until we start our journey south... (We have to drive to Columbus on Thursday night as our flight is at 6 AM!)

After reading a post about FE gifts elsewhere on the DISboards, I had a question - is there anyone that DOES NOT want their kids getting candy? I have separate little gifts for the kids, but I know there's some young kids participating, and I'd just assume leave the candy portion out if you don't want your kids having it.

Well, I have a super sad announcement to make. It is with a heavy heart that I tell you all that this will likely be our last cruise for a very, very long time. It might even be our very last family vacation that doesn't involve a family-truckster-type vehicle and tins of food heated on a camping stove. Today we submitted our DD's application packet for "Independent College Preparatory Day School." Which really just means our public school system is horrific and after five years of exhaustive research, we've realized that this is our only option. I'm sure my facial expression when they handed me the bill probably looked like this: followed by this: and then a little of this: .

The moral of my story is, I don't have time to pack, I have to go pawn my clothes and get three night jobs.

You must be almost directly opposite us - we are in 5128!! We'll try not to be too noisy - but Kenny (5) is very giggly!

Have just had our tickets through for our flights from London - always reassuring to get them. Have booked our flights off the island we live on and sent the holiday form in to school. So many practical things to do and the time is going so quickly. We leave home on 17th Feb, so less than a month now. Kenny (DS) is really excited and has told everyone at school all about his holiday and asks every night "how many more sleeps until we go on the jumbo jet".

Will have start our packing soon, as you say not much call for sunny weather clothes at the moment, although we never get snow here - just cold wind!
