February 25th Magic Cruise Board

:welcome: feiste

The other party we are sailing with has a 13 DD. I know she would love to get to know some other girls before we cruise so she doesn't have to hang out with our 9 DD and her sister who is 9, as well. It is a pain to be the 3rd wheel. Maybe we could get them together via email???? :confused3

Are you looking to participate in the FE? I have compiled the list and am actually just getting ready to send out the most updated version but I will hold off until I hear back from you. Please just let me know.

Happy New Years to all!
emmysdidi

That would be great! Both of my daughters enjoy making friends prior to boarding. Most of the Disfriends that we have connected with in the past continue to be Facebook friends of today. Is the thirteen year old in your group on Facebook? If not I can pm you an email for the two of them to connect.

We are interested in the FE exchange, although I must admit I was overwhelmed by the generosity of some participants during our last cruise. Do we have a spending cap? I will pm you with my info for the exchange.

Ha, yeah i was getting pretty bored on the treadmill for over an hour so the dis was a great place to go.

This week i have not been using the disboard for entertainment during treadmill activity as, i am in theprocess of trying to get my 3.1 miles to 45 minutes...

I have not gotten to that yet, 46 minutes has been the best i can do.

So i have been sticking to you tube continuous loop of ADELE...she is my running partner right now!

I DO NOT LIKE THE NEW BOARDING PROCEDURE EITHER....

Thankfully and luckily, i was able to obtain the earliest time possible, had i not have gotten that i would have been VERY UPSET!

We too always arrived early early to get a good #.

Good luck with what you obtain now and let us know

PHEW!!!!! Read them all!

dizzi - Congrats on the wedding!:thumbsup2, and we can share a sympathy "I have a teenage girl drink" while on board.

Emmysdidi - think you and my husband will get along quite well. He has a matching soft sided cooler that will be wheeling around with him.:drinking1

Beth D - Millennium Force was the first roller coaster for both of my girls.

dpequignot - We have never had a Cabana on CC, and have never missed having one. If you disembark early (even just one member of your party) you will have no problem finding an umbrella spot on the beach. I obviously don't know your daughter or her limitations yet, but other activities that she might be interested in that will take her off the beach for a bit include the one hour bike rental, or the kids club "archeological dig", and an entire pavilion of games.

My top hints - many have been given out, but I will add/modify a few:

Yes on the nightlight, especially if you have an interior room. However I would make it a glade or so that you can add an air freshener to it. No matter how much you love your family, that small holds a lot of smell after one week together.

ZIPLOCKS!!!!! - I bring the gallon size and use them constantly. When the children were younger we would order the PB&J's and cookies from room service, and then pack them off in the zip locks on our excursion days.

Dollar bills - Have a pile of singles in your room for tips for room service. Room service is free (for the most part), but these guys work hard. Having the singles handy assures that any member of your party can quickly tip for that midnight Mickey Bar (yes you can get those). Also the "All hands on Deck Platter" is a favorite for my family - Cheeses, crackers, grapes, and so on.

Highlighters - use these to color code the pass porter for the different activities that your family wants to participate in the next day.
Everyone can then quickly locate where other family members may be.

Don't overpack!!!! - I will, because I can't help myself. But you shouldn't because it is REALLY unnecessary! Pack a couple tide tablets and dryer sheets, and throw in a load if you really need to.

Get to know the staff who is there to serve you! - and don't forget to plan ahead to tip them accordingly at the end off the week. It's not the room stewards fault that you overspent on your bar tab. We have had so many positive experiences with Disney staff over the years! It is one of the main reasons that I return!

Remember to RELAX! - You are on vacation, and you have paid a good amount of money to be there. Be prepared for any/all of the following:
Events will be missed- maybe your kids want to take a nap during the sail away party. Don't worry there will be another dance party tomorrow.

Family members will have different ideas about what activities they want to do - it's okay, not every minute needs to be spent joined at the hip. Agree on one activity a day that is family time (the dinner, a show, breakfast, whatever) enjoy each other!

Mother Nature can not be Controlled - It's no one else's fault. Please don't let a weather problem ruin your trip. If weather prevents an event from happening Disney Magic will create something just as Wonderful for your family to participate in.pixiedust:

Our excursion plans are the following:

St Thomas - we are going to St. John for the day, and still deciding exactly what we are going to do while we are there

St. Marteen - Beach day - Phillipsburg. A little bit of bar/casino crawling for DH and myself. We have also begun exploring the possiblity of a parasail for all of us, or just the girls, as this is something they have never done.

CC - Beach, Stingrays, Conch Cooler, Beach, Buffet lunch, Conch Cooler, Nap on the Beach, Bike Ride. :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

I'm with you. I was given 12:30, but I have a feeling that there might be a phone call in my future. Not a terrible time, but still, not what I was looking for.

We did the parasial on CC.

IT was pretty awesome after we got up there.
I was pretty scared before hand but it was really cool and BEAUTIFUL.

One thing that was extra cool.....

Is the Dream made a special presentation of herself that day while we were on the island.....So from up high i could see her far in the distance and i could see the magic would have been a great picture ....but didnt take a camera up with me....

I totally agree with you about the weather.

In nassua we were supposed to do an excursion, But in the morning it was raining sooooo badly that we were afraid to go on the excursion to the beach.

So they were offereing refunds and we took teh refund offer.

Not an our after, it stopped raining and was beautiful, so we got off the ship went ashore and took a tour with someone who was offering a tour of the island WE LOVED THE TOUR, and when the others got back from the beach excursion they were so upset becasue the beach was horrible from the rain and had i guess the no seeums all over and lots of people were bit up.

SORRY for them, YAH for us!!!

It's the point at which over planning ruins the vacation atmosphere! A few years ago on our cruise we were one engine down, and strong head winds. The two combined so that we were late for our arrival on St. Marteen. DCL threw us a wonderful impromptu deck party with free drinks. A few days later the same strong winds kept us docking at CC, despite 6 attempts. Another deck party was held, we discovered Karaoke on board, and Jimney Cricket showed up that night for pictures. While many spent their day complaining and crying we had a blast. It was disappointing, but out of everyone's control.

We thought about the Parasail at CC, but it also seems that there are a lot of options for it in St. Marteen. How long was your ride when you did it? What an amazing picture that would have been!

Forgot to say... Happy that it turned out so well for you!!!

We might havebeen in the air a total of 10 minutes...if that.
But the whole experience was about 2 hours long as you go with several other people.

Thanks in advance,

I have a 11yo dd myself who is looking for friends to chat with pre cruise. Are your girls on Facebook?

Hi I have 2 DD's ages 12 and the other will be 11 in March. They have email address's but not facebook let me know if you would like me to PM both of you their info. They were just asking yesterday if they were going to chat with any other kids ahead of time:goodvibes

Happy New Year everyone!

IF all the kids have access to the internet you could just start a kids thread meet on the boards just name it something different, with our date and ask cowboy to post it with ours. Or have a link for it at the bottom of someones siggie.

She means for herself ....
WE are sailing together and I am going to try for an upgrade from porthole to verandah.........if there is some left before we sail of course i will check
We are speaking of paying for it ourself.....Wishing for pixi dust for a free one but hasnt happened yet

And the new times she speaks of is you now get a time when you can check in and get a # for boarding unlike before you coudl show up and try to ge an early boarding #.

When you do your ompletion of things on line it shoudl have given you a time to check in.

Willmington and I did ours the second we were aloud so that we would get the 11-11:30 time slot.

IF you are wanting to get in early youshould probally go ahead online and do your checkin things and get a time, the ship is pretty filled up already and you could have a late checkin/boarding time already.

This. :thumbsup2

If current trip reports and the FAQ thread still hold true, your character breakfast will be on your first sea day AFTER your Animator's Palate dinner. So, for example, our rotation is LAPLAPL. We have Animator's on Sunday night (which is also formal night, BTW.) Monday is our first day at sea after that, so we should have our character breakfast on that morning. You will have a set of printed tickets to your character breakfast waiting for you in your cabin.

Knowing about character breakfast ahead of time is important if you are traveling with kids and want to try to book a Palo brunch on a sea day. Also, YES, you may request a specific dining rotation. There are three possible choices, but I can't remember them all at the moment. I hope this helps!

Laying in bed this morning, i realize............

AM I AN IDIOT???????????:scared1:

Is anyone else up for this?

My girls would be interested.

I think a kids thread would be a great idea. Ugh it's back to school tomorrow and all thoughts are on the cruise...
Thanks everyone for all the info.
Happy new year to all!!:wizard:
