Hey feiste! I added you to our list. Send me an email at nshabarekh@snet.net and I'll hook you up. You bring us to 159 and that's not counting everyone. Some people haven't sent me their info yet.

Hmmm . . . is this something we are supposed to be doing? I didn't send anyone any info. :)

I don't think there is an organized beach per se in Majahahaulalalalal (however you spell it ). From what I've read, there are many restuarants along the beach and you can get use of the chairs and beach if you buy some food or drinks. Everyone said the prices are very reasonable.

Ah, I see. But what about bathrooms/changing rooms then?

Has anyone been here before? We were thinking about the excurssion to

Chacchoben Mayan Ruins, Costa Maya

They offer it through CostaMaya Excurssions, same as grandcaymanaxcurssions.com. It is on sale for $41 a person and since we are using them in Grand Cayman we were thinking about using them here. We just want some opinions on it and whether our children, dd11 and ds4 could handle it or if they should be left on ship with DGM & DGP

Thanks for any advice

Judy

Got my docs yesterday, Yahooo!

I did so much reasearch on this I got dizzy.. ha ha For the Stingray sandbar and snorkeling... everyone recommend CaptainMarvins . com. Great reviews.

For the Ruins, on several different messages boards, David and Ivan are the recommended choice. It's personal, they go over everything and really give you indepth knowledge of things as you go.. even the plants as you drive. Their reviews were excellent! chacchobenruins . com

Yes, but specifically which beach? I haven't been able to figure it out. My youngest who has Asperger's Syndrome is having a hard time adjusting to the fact that there will be no sea trampoline and iceberg climbing thing. :( Wonder if there is anything like that at Grand Cayman?

Tracy

Everything I've read didn't give a specific name of a beach.. just to drive to Mahahual and when you get off in the little town.. the beach is right there and you can walk into town too if you want, but that the vendors are very pushy in trying to sell their stuff. But they'll bargain way low too. So if you are up for bargaining for a low price.. you'll have fun.

You can tell i don't know what to expect at port...
Get there, check in baggage, go over paper work, then get on boat...

What's the earliest you can Board ??
Should we be doing anything special once on board??
i know any last minute palo, or spa reservations, but anything else??

Oh my golly. I cannot stand it. It took me around 45 minutes to catch up on this link. Wow. And can you believe I've been editing the spreadsheet as I go along? Now you know why it took so long! Norman just purchased some red beads from Dollar Tree. I suppose as I'm staring out the window tonite into tomorrow watching the flipping snow come down I can make a Parrot Bay Rum and Coke and just get a good buzz on, wearing those beads! Yeah, right. Oh I hope they're wrong again. Thank goodness it's on a weekend.

Not to give away a surprise but on Pirate night they do have red bandanas. If you go to our site (www.shabbyfam.us) you'll see a picture of Norm and I wearing them! We just wore tropical shirts and had a ball!

Let's see - email me nshabarekh@snet.net and I will get you all added to the distribution list and spreadsheet. I see some new additions here - you're not yet counted - help us raise above 200!

I totally agree with the ship model at 11:00 am. We'll be hanging out waiting to board anyway - why not have the kids say hello.

I'll stop.....

Sally - we're booked on Captain Marvin's 1/2 day trip and have to be there around 10:00ish.

We're have a transport van taking us in, but they are picking us up at 10am, and I guess it takes about an hour to get from the Best Western to the Port, so we'll be arriving around 11am. We'll probably miss you all, but we'll try to get to the Metal boat you are talking about. (Never been there) Otherwise we'll see you at the Mickey pool on board after lunch.

I"m waiting on family before I book Capt. Marvin.. but we're going for the 2.5 hr. excursion at 11:15am. It should give us plenty of time to tender in. My Niece in Law is bringing her 3 little girls, so we wanted to go with the shorter one. I can't wait!!

Has anyone done the walking tour or the old trolly train tour on key west? Are either worth while? Does the trolly actually stop and let you in any sites? Thanks

Moira,

Our flight leaves Logan at 2:50 and gets in at 6:00 too. Maybe we will see you in baggage claim!

They (the weather brains) are saying 6 -10 for us on the coast, I am hoping for less but these nor'easters tend to hit us hard.

Kathy

Hi Kathy! :wave2:

Are you flying out on American? I am planning on putting my little Mickey head pin on just in case! Would be neat to meet at the airport!! :)

Still not sure what we are getting. That 495 line is always iffy. :confused3 I'm like Jeff - I'll see what we get in the morning! Hopefully you won't get it too badly up there!

Grand Cayman - Private boat to stingray City.......

We have been looking into an excursion to stingray city, and came across this site on the web.....

http://www.absolutedivers.com/stingray_city.htm
http://www.absolutedivers.com/rates.htm

For $400 for 8 people, we could charter a private boat for a 1/2 day and set our own iteniraty. We have 4 people in our group who are interested in going. Is there someone out there with 4 people who might be interested in combining forces with us on this, and splitting the cost?

If that price holds, it would be about $50/person. A little more than the $40/$27 that Captain Marvins is asking, but this way, we could set our own schedule and be a little more carefree!

Any interest out there?

Hi Moira, ours says #1947 at 2:35pm on the 24th direct to Orlando

Hi Jeff, :wave2:

We were originally scheduled for a 2:35 AA direct out of Logan as well, but we received an email telling us that the flights had been rescheduled and was now at 2:50 (a direct flight as well). :confused3 DH made the flight ressies with Orbitz and they sent him the email to let him know of the change. I don't know if they shifted all flights, but it did affect ours!

We were in Key West in 2004. You can easily walk to all the main sites. The trolly I saw did let you on and off. There may be 2 diff trolleys so be sure to ask if the one you choose lets you on and off. Most of the main things are walking distance from the cruise dock.

Ilene
stay warm in the snow out east!!
Soon there won't snow...only conk coolers and bahama mamas...

Are there any particular spots we should go see while in Key West? Or is this mostly a shopping spot? I'm totally clueless for this port so far.. :confused3

Still Ilene but here goes: here is a link to one of the square's preformers
http://www.catmankeywest.com/index.html
I hope he is there when we are ...i'd love to show the kids

Rest of the port very similar to other ports, similar chain stores, some good bars and restaurants, some unique museums, sothernmost point of us, some nice gifty, boutiques

I just saw this on one of the Cruise Critic message boards, it's about Keywest.. One lady was asking about where the best places to shop are.
------------------------------------------

I would suggest Fast Buck Freddie's, Crazy Shirts, and Margaritaville all on the same block of Duval St.

There are many places to get quality tees, etc in Key West and many more that will rip you off.

Be careful and examine your receipt closely before leaving the store if you shop at a small T shirt shop advertising low prices and featuring loud music to entice you in. Many times customers get back to the ship, home etc and discover their credit card was charged $900 instead of the $19 it should have been.

Okay people - I've been to Cozumel. I'm sorry if you're disappointed but now I am really stoked for Costa Maya. There is another site that referred us to this link. It seems like this is the deal for us. Check out the pictures!!!
