Hi -- I'm new here and this is my first post, so here we go.

I have seen very little information posted here about the 2/24-27 Wonder cruise. This was the first cruise for Me, DH, DS (8) & DS (5). We had an excellent time and I'm surprised noone from that cruise has written in. So, I decided to post a short report.

Stayed at Radisson the night before -- it was fine -- under construction and a bit dated -- but, convenient and clean enough for an overnight -- would never spend more than one day there , though.

Embarktion was easy, efficient and fun. We were one of the first on-board.

We were in Cat. 4 room 8506 -- this was a great cabin, size was bigger than I expected and location was great. Close to the forward elevator and stairs and only one floor below the pools but, immediately below the spa and adult area -- very quiet!! -- very convenient for running back to the cabin and the forward section of the ship seemed much less crowded than mid and aft.

Overall the cruise was all we expected it to be from what we had heard.

Our biggest disappointment was the food -- while Palo was very good, the other dining rooms were only average, in our opinion -- we had high hopes for the food and were a bit surprised the quality wasn't better. The buffets were really well put together and the food was good as well. Of course you can't go wrong with a hot dog and chicken fingers from Pluto's and Scoops ice cream was simply great.

Enterntainment was great as expected as was the cleanliness of the ship and friendliness of the CMs. This was a big highlight for us -- all of the CMs were very helpful, kind and enthusiastic.

The weather was great and the seas were great -- except the night we sailed back to Port -- quite bumpy -- although the TV Bridge Report said the waves were only 1.5 - 4 feet -- I find that hard to believe -- if anyone else was on this cruise, I'd love to hear what you thought of the ride back to Port. Being first-time cruiser, I wasn't sure what to think ---

My kids loved the pools -- we spent a ton of time at Goofy = very little at Mickey -- my son's thought the Mickey slide was not much funn -- Mickey was very crowded.

Kids Clubs were good -- my boys were there very little since our cruise was so short -- parental guilt took over and we spent the time with them instead.

Castaway Cay was incredible -- but, very crowded and spread out -- since my DH was doing a Stone Massage back at the ship it was hard to keep track of the boys and check everything out on my own while watching the kids.-- they wanted to be in the water at all costs -- so, I enjoyed some nice drinks and didn't mind basking in the sunshine. In hindsight, I wish we would have investigated more --- oh well, next time.

Nassau -- I don't care if I ever go back there -- we didn't do any excursions because again, our cruise was so short, we wanted to check out the ship. Too many people in your face trying to sell you stuff -- rides, hair braiding, etc. Not my cup of tea at all. Nice, high-end shopping and good prices, but, we should have left the kids on board -- they don't want to see another jewelry store, ever! I think we better book an excursion next time.

Well, that's my "short" report -- but, if anyone has any questions or want my opinion on anything I'd love to share -- those are the highlights for now.

Thanks for reading!

thanks for taking the time to post- sounds like you all had a great time :)

Thanks for your trip report! We were on the Wonder a few weeks before you were and I have to agree with everything you said, even with the rougher seas on the way back to Port! Glad you had a great time! Do you have any plans to go back soon?

we were on the 2-24 wonder also and had a good time...we have cruised before and i thought the night on the way back to the port was TERRIBLE..if i hadn't finally fell asleep i would have definitely been very sick...terrible movement...i agree about the food also, okay but nothing spectacular...we went to atlantis at nassau (booked a room at comfort suites)...i didn't think it was that great..very, very crowded but we had an okay time...we had been to nassau before and in hindsight i wish we would've just stayed on the boat..i did enjoy the shows and the deck parties..my dh got picked to be one of the pirates at the pirate deck party so we of course thought that was very funny....

Ah... shopping... please, please tell me more!

I'm glad you had a good cruise, even if there were some things you didn't care for.

We have been on five cruises from 2 different Florida ports, and the first night going out and the last night coming back have always been rough. The explanation I've been given on at least 3 of those cruises is that you are crossing the Gulf Stream. Even though the waves aren't that big, there is a lot of current pushing on the ship.

Hope that helps.............

Great report! Glad you had a great first trip!

Thanks for the clarification -- one of the CMs mentioned crossing the Jet Stream during the Castaway Day, but, I kind of forgot that until you mentioned it. Wow -- I don't know that I could handle too much of that either -- has anyone ever been on a cruise where it's bumpy the whole time -- I couldn't sleep at all the night -- I didn't feel sick, it was more scared and freaked out than sick ..... :confused3

We were on the same cruise and LOVED it --so much so that we took advantage of the on board offer and rebooked a 7 night western. Our kids (3 boys- 8, 11, 13) decided they would rather do a 7 night cruise than 7 nights at WDW!!

We were in 2 category 8 connecting rooms, and will do the same again. It was so roomy and comfortable.

The CM's really made the trip terrific. They were ALL so friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there.

The ship was immaculate--much cleaner and better maintained than others we have been on. I even saw some painting going on at off hours. I almost felt guilty using the handrails because they were gleaming!!

We really liked the food (a bit too much by the feel of my jeans-LOL). The variety was good, and there was always plenty to be found. We are not used to fancy food--a night out for us is Applebees or similar.) My favorite food was the fresh fruit. Where we live, the fruit is not very good right now. I really miss the HUGE strawberries, melon and PINEAPPLE.

The entertainment options were great, as were the opportunities to relax. Our kids really liked the kids clubs, although 3 nights didn't seem like enough time to make friends.

CC was great--we found a less crowded spot on the beach, played in the water, rode bikes.... It was cloudy afternoon, but still a great time.

The ride back was rocky. I have never rocked so much. I was just so happy that we were already in bed before it started.

Oh well, so much for a short response about the last night. It was just too much fun to write so little :)

They are supposed to start the fireworks on the wonder soon. Did you have them on your cruise? We cruise on March 17th. :cool1:

We cruise this weekend-we'll try to find out.

What time about does the ship cross the gulf stream
(both going and coming back)? Thanks.

It seemed the ship got really rocky on our way back to Port on the 3-day at around midnight -- maybe a bit before. I didn't sleep at all during this time -- it seemed to last for at LEAST 2 or 3 hours. :guilty:

I didn't feel anything on our way out from Port -- seemed very smooth to me even with the Jetstream info that's been discussed here.
