Hi -- I'm new here and this is my first post, so here we go.
I have seen very little information posted here about the 2/24-27 Wonder cruise. This was the first cruise for Me, DH, DS (8) & DS (5). We had an excellent time and I'm surprised noone from that cruise has written in. So, I decided to post a short report.
Stayed at Radisson the night before -- it was fine -- under construction and a bit dated -- but, convenient and clean enough for an overnight -- would never spend more than one day there , though.
Embarktion was easy, efficient and fun. We were one of the first on-board.
We were in Cat. 4 room 8506 -- this was a great cabin, size was bigger than I expected and location was great. Close to the forward elevator and stairs and only one floor below the pools but, immediately below the spa and adult area -- very quiet!! -- very convenient for running back to the cabin and the forward section of the ship seemed much less crowded than mid and aft.
Overall the cruise was all we expected it to be from what we had heard.
Our biggest disappointment was the food -- while Palo was very good, the other dining rooms were only average, in our opinion -- we had high hopes for the food and were a bit surprised the quality wasn't better. The buffets were really well put together and the food was good as well. Of course you can't go wrong with a hot dog and chicken fingers from Pluto's and Scoops ice cream was simply great.
Enterntainment was great as expected as was the cleanliness of the ship and friendliness of the CMs. This was a big highlight for us -- all of the CMs were very helpful, kind and enthusiastic.
The weather was great and the seas were great -- except the night we sailed back to Port -- quite bumpy -- although the TV Bridge Report said the waves were only 1.5 - 4 feet -- I find that hard to believe -- if anyone else was on this cruise, I'd love to hear what you thought of the ride back to Port. Being first-time cruiser, I wasn't sure what to think ---
My kids loved the pools -- we spent a ton of time at Goofy = very little at Mickey -- my son's thought the Mickey slide was not much funn -- Mickey was very crowded.
Kids Clubs were good -- my boys were there very little since our cruise was so short -- parental guilt took over and we spent the time with them instead.
Castaway Cay was incredible -- but, very crowded and spread out -- since my DH was doing a Stone Massage back at the ship it was hard to keep track of the boys and check everything out on my own while watching the kids.-- they wanted to be in the water at all costs -- so, I enjoyed some nice drinks and didn't mind basking in the sunshine. In hindsight, I wish we would have investigated more --- oh well, next time.
Nassau -- I don't care if I ever go back there -- we didn't do any excursions because again, our cruise was so short, we wanted to check out the ship. Too many people in your face trying to sell you stuff -- rides, hair braiding, etc. Not my cup of tea at all. Nice, high-end shopping and good prices, but, we should have left the kids on board -- they don't want to see another jewelry store, ever! I think we better book an excursion next time.
Well, that's my "short" report -- but, if anyone has any questions or want my opinion on anything I'd love to share -- those are the highlights for now.
Thanks for reading!
