***** February 2022 Thread *****

Will they still have boarding groups once Genie is activated? Still haven't decided yet if we will get Genie+. We may just do it on a day by day basis. The only way we would do the other one is if we are desperate to get on a favorite ride.
We don't really know as Disney has not shared this information. I would anticipate standby line but that's just a guess.

Yeah a good part of my decision on what I will do will be based on seeing how it goes once it has been up and running for a bit. I'll feel better about it with more information. With them not doing the queue anymore with ROR it makes you think they won't be doing it anymore but who knows.

So now that more information has been released, who is considering Genie+? I just don't see where it is worth it at some parks, like Epcot, but I am still considering it for MK and HS but it will depend on the crowd levels during our trip. I do know I won't be paying for IAs, because I just don't see the worth in it. I'd just wait in line or try for boarding group for rides its available for.
I might consider it, since my February trip is for the runDisney Princess races, and standing in lines is hard on the legs. But for a purely vacation trip, I can’t see myself spending the extra money.

Considering that Remy has so much more capacity than ROTR, I really hope that Remy is standby by the time we get there. Or they remove the need for a park reservation in order to get a boarding group. Or they open part of Epcot reasonably early like they used to. Basically I don't want to need a park reservation for a park that open at 11am in order to ride Remy. As a family we love all rides, but the cute, well-done ones are our favorites.
We'll be getting G+. If you imagine the target customer for G+, that is us.

According to the email from my TA who attended a media event for the announcement, Stand by or virtual queues will be offered for those that don't want to purchase genie+ or indivdual lightening lane selections. Obviously we don't know for sure but I would rather have to try for a boarding group for Remy than to wait in a stand by line, but then again it would be nice to have the stand by line as a back up option too.

Just starting to plan our next trip. Have never been to see the festival of the Arts. Looks like fun. But I have hit a dilema. We normally go for 2 weeks

This year for work I can travel after 2/10. Which means I am smack in the middle of President week. Any tips or tricks for this time of year.

I would avoid Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios on the Saturday and Sunday of Presidents weekend. Those will probably be the most crowded parks that weekend.

I wish I had some advice but this is the first time I am going in February but I just wanted to say I am excited to see the Festival of Arts as well since it's my first time experiencing it as well.

We went to FotA for the first time in Jan 2018 after our 2017 trip being cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. FotA quickly became our favourite Epcot festival and our reason for moving our Aug 2021 trip to Jan 2022!

I just watched Molly's video (Molly from All Ears) and she actually mentioned boarding groups. She sayd it only applies to Remy's right now but if you buy an IAs for Remy's you can still try for a boarding group so you have the opportunity to ride it twice. She said she asked about RotR virtual queue and they said they have no intentions of bringing back the virtual queue for it so it's either pay or do stand by on it.

Yes thank you! I watched it too and was going to mention it. It was so informative!

My flight down to MCO went down from $100.00 to $69.00 so I got almost 5000 points refunded. The one from MCO home has actually went up since I bought our tickets. But I am still watching to see if it goes down too. Now I just have to hope that Southwest has all theirs ducks in a row come February. So far none of the flights out of the airport I fly from has been cancelled during all of this mess so hopefully that will not change between now and then.

I got these beauties today. I chose the castle 50th anniversary one and hubby chose Toy story...which shocked me. It will be funny to see him wearing it. Anyone who knows my hubby knows he isn't into Disney but I guess he is trying to get into the disney spirit this time.

Beautiful!! If they shipped Internationally or, I was positive our trip was going to happen I would order the 50th for myself but after 2 cancelled trips I don't want them to get lost sitting at the resort for who knows how long waiting for us to arrive.

Thankfully the US border finally opening in November is a big step in the right direction!!!

I ordered the 50th band for our October trip and it is really pretty. I just wish it had more of the design on top. I'll have to wear it upside down. :)

My hubby used to only wear a grey or orange band. But now he wears his Sorcerer's Mickey and the Americana band all the time. :)

Yeah I wish more of the design was at the top too. For our 2019 trip hubby got the yellow donald one and I was proud of him for going for a bold color (I thought he would choose Goofy because he is hubby's favorite), then it got broken on the first day...I'll explain that in a minute in case I haven't mentioned it here... so the resort desk replaced it with a plain yellow one. They asked him what color he wanted but he still chose yellow. I guess the family teasing him about his grandpa white NB shoes and how he never steps out of his comfort zone has sparked some new energy in him to try new things :rotfl2:

How Hubby broke his magicband:
So on our 2019 trip our first park day was at MK like it always is. Our first ride was Pirates of the Caribbean and as soon as I stepped off the platform to board my flip flop fell off my foot and hit the tiny space between the platform and boat perfectly so it fell between them and started floating away. My husband tried to grab it and when he did his magicband got caught and tore the gray part that you remove to make it fit smaller wrists. After the first ride hubby had to keep his band in his pocket because he didn't want to make it worse and we didn't want to buy a new one until we checked in at the resort desk if they would replace it (even if it was just a gray one). I was happy they let him pick any color instead of just having to take gray. They were wonderful! Although I have to say I looked hilarious getting off the ride and telling the CM at the exit what happened. She told me it happens more than you'd think and wrote me a ticket to get a free pair of flip flops. When I went to the dump shop to tell them what happened they told me they didn't have any flip flops and one of the CMs asked me what size and went all the way to the front of the park to get me a pair. Although she got me a size 8 in men's (I wear a 7 1/2-8 womens) so they were huge on me, at least I wasn't barefoot. I clopped around MK that morning with huge flip flip on and when we went to Beaches and Cream for lunch I bought a pair of croc flip flops in their gift shop. I had looked at MK but was hoping to find something else but when I couldn't find them I just got what I could that felt okay on my feet. I was so grateful they helped me out when they didn't have to.

Do you guys have any guesses what will be back by Feb?
Stuff is coming back, but slower than I hoped.

The only one I've heard confirmed is 'Indiana Jones.' Other than that it's pure guesses unless there have been other things announced that I've forgotten about.

Personally, I don't put much weight into predictions as I don't think many would have thought so much would still be closed now, 19 months after Disney first closed it's gates.

Just a heads up to those that may be in Magic Kingdom on Sunday, February 6th Kimberwee just posted this is her pre trip report:

UDA has announced that their CELEBRATION PARTY is back!!! For all of you also planning a trip that includes Sunday, 2/6, avoid Magic Kingdom on Sunday afternoon. Loads of dance teams will be showing up throughout the afternoon/evening for the Celebration Party night.

Thanks for the heads up. Thankfully I'm doing Epcot that day anyway.
