February 2014

Thanks for sharing the information about where to find the number. I was able to get a Fastpass lunch for BOG on Valentine's Day!

Too funny, same resort as you at the same time, and I also got a BOG lunch FP for Valentine's Day! Looking forward to it as we've only done dinner there.

That is funny. I agree it is a bummer we will have to trek over to POR to use the pool. My DD is really hoping the weather will be warm enough to do so.

I will try to post a picture so we can look for each other. I expect we will cross paths possibly waiting for a bus at PORFQ. I would love to say hi in person. Actually, I think I posted some photos of us in my 2009 Trip Report that is under my signature. Of course, my DD has grown quite a bit. She is almost my height now. There is only about 1/2 in difference between us.

My time is for 12:40 to 1:10. I started to pick an earlier time but was worried I would be cutting it close with the start of the parade at 10:00. The parade is in the MK but it is not listed and may only be my son's high school band marching.

So, Valentine's Day is going to be extra special for me this year!

DH & I will be at Jambo House Feb. 2-7, 2014. We usually go in Feb. crowds aren't bad unless Mardi Gras and President's Day fall in the same week.

Welcome sissy1! :dance3:AKL would be fun to try out. My DD just now said that she would like to stay at the hotel with the animals. So, it definitely is on my wish list of resorts to try.

we leave in 24 days!

THIS time, well, you know what they says...third time's a charm!
that was long winded...oh well...we're excited!

It is nice to have you join us, jk and ek. :yay:

It sounds like this trip will be less stressful than your last one. I am glad you are able to go and enjoy it and spend time with loved ones.

I didn't catch what day you will be arriving or where you are staying. If you want to post again and share, I can add it to the first page list.

We are staying at AKL Jambo house and I can't wait to do be able to take my time a little bit this time.

I now have your resort information added to the first page information.

I'm new here but have been reading a lot as I planned my trip! I check in Feb 2 to POP, out on Feb 6th. It's my first trip, and a quick one, so I'll be touring commando style!

Welcome CassieF!!:cheer2: 4 days should give you plenty of time to check it out. Just try to stop every once in awhile and just take the time to enjoy the atmosphere and all.

I really wish I would have done this with my DH's first trip, but like you we were there for a limited time and I wanted to try to cram it all in. He tells me that he would have enjoyed it more if we would have slowed down and done less. He especially wanted to take the time to check out Main Street and the Castle at MK.

I really hope to give Flame Tree a try this trip. I love BBQ.

Call me crazy, but I just have to start each WDW trip at MK.

I am with you! I just feel like MK is the first place I should go.

For me, my plane should arrive around 10:30 so I expect to be at PORFQ around noon or so. I figure my DD and I will check out the resort and relax a bit and then head to MK since it is going to be open late that night.

I also have dinner reservations for us at the Crystal Palace a little after 7:00
I thought this might make a nice start to our trip. And since I picked a later time, there shouldn't be a problem getting to it.

You mean to tell me she won't be taking her homework to Disney?! ;)

I'm an infrequent flyer and boy did I pick most expensive day to fly. We are flying in on the 12th and leaving on President's day. I'm not sure if it is because it's a holiday or a Monday but the price of the flight back is three times the price as the flight in. Had we stayed one or two more days I wonder if the airfare cost would have balanced out the package cost.

I, too, am an infrequent flyer. I moved my departure day up by one because the difference in price for our flight was half the price. I didn't feel too bad about cutting it a day short since the original departure date would have been spent traveling anyway with an early flight and a switch in planes. Now, I have a direct flight for half the cost and really no extra loss in Disney time since I am arriving earlier that I had planned originally too.

I will go ahead and read your 2009 Trip Report and look at the pictures! I can pm you and let you know our whereabouts once we're both down there, too. It would just be a shame to walk by each other a million times at the resort and not say hello:wave2:

That is so exciting about your son marching/playing in the MK!!! I had no idea there was a parade that day, we'll be there early so maybe we'll try to catch it. I would assume there will be other HS bands as well?? Do you know if they'll be marching the regular parade route? Our BOG lunch time overlaps yours, 12:25-12:55. We have eaten dinner there twice and really enjoyed it. From what I've read here on the boards, many people think lunch is better so I have high hopes for it!

We can only get a FastPass for BOG if you've been pre-selected?

No. Anyone staying onsite can. Just go to beourguestlunch.disney.go.com. The number you need is on your magic bands, on the magic bands page of MDE (desktop version), or on you yellow luggage tags for magical express.

we leave in 24 days! it's my (Lizz) 3rd time to WDW (husband jacob has been many time/went frequently growing up). the first i got a horrible norovirus our first full day there and was out of commission for ~90% of the trip and it was horrible. the second time was a big 'family' trip with my in-laws/my husband's sister and her BF and there was MAJOR drama pretty much the whole time (courtesy of my MIL) which cut into the fun. THIS time, well, you know what they says...third time's a charm! we've got a baby now who will be turning 1 year old during our trip. we extended the offer to MIL to come (she's a disney fanatic) and she was dismissive & rude about our choice to take the baby so young and did not commit to plans within the (6 month) time frame we gave her, so her invitation was rescinded. of course NOW she wants to come, but it's not happening. and honestly, both of us are actually happy about it! she saw the baby at christmas and also thanksgiving anyway. my dad is going to travel to florida for a few days during our trip as his brother is a police officer in the orlando area and he goes to visit often anyway...so we have a couple of days set aside to spend time with him which we are very excited about (my dad is extremely laid back and fun). he hasn't seen the baby since june when he was only 4 months old. anyway, we are doing a triple split stay...renting points at BLT, then at AKL-jambo and then we extended our trip one more night and booked it at AOA because i totally forgot about president's day and it ended up being more cost efficient to pay for the resort than pay a premium on airplane tickets for tuesday the 18th. that was long winded...oh well...we're excited!

We took our girls for their first birthday and it was great! Lots of napping while we strolled ;) Priceless pictures, they loooved Chip n Dale and the Hoop De Doo--people were saying the same thing to us--they will be too young to remember it, etc--to which we said um, yeah, but we'd really like a vacation--and they aren't too young to have fun! So we can sit at home till they can prove they remember things or we can vo have a blast with them just for the sake of it!

Hey there call me late to the party ! We arrive feb 4-13th at POR. Looking forward to this trip bc living upstate Ny in feb stinks! This time it's only mom myself and two of my 5 kids. My mom wanted it to just be her and I but it's not possible with dh work schedule so my youngest ds6 is going and one of my twins dd17 deserves a break. She graduates in June and has busted her butt to have an advanced diploma not only that but spent her entire summer and then some playing softball with no real break in almost two years. We actually have to practice while on vacation because the day after we return home she has a tournament. That kid is dedicated! So if ya see two women throwing a softball (the taller one really badly me the non athlete helping practice lol) that's us. :-)

The all numerical reservation can be found on MDE under resort reservation prior to paying it off. It can also be found under magic band customization prior to them being processed and shipped. If both of those things have occurred already it can also be found on the yellow bag tags that are sent to you in the mail when using the magical express. Hope that helps ;)

Thank you so much for posting that info. As a 1st time WDW, I can use all the hints/tips I can get. ;) My DD really wanted to go and I know how much they hate lines so this will be great!

Such a good tip to *try* and remember since I can be one of those check it off the list people... remember to stop and enjoy the moment. I think that will have to be my mantra

Maybe this is a little early but my youngest DD is worried that the trip will come and go too quick. She is wondering what we will do next. I can't believe she is already considering the "post WDW blues". Anyone have any plans on how to deal with the blues? I am considering a short Disneyland trip in the fall...maybe surprise?

Welcome pheonixheart! WOW! Can you believe how fast February is approaching!

I agree I will be great to get away in February and see the sunshine and hopefully a little warmth too! 60 degree temperatures will feel great after out temps here lately. I think today there was a high of 11 degrees. So, I totally understand.

Too fast!!! My oldest son 17 also has surgery the 29th to repair a torn acl so I have that to deal with right before we leave. Only 16 days!!! My mom almost spit kittens when she realized that today. And the fact that I haven't even started to pack! Lol. Can't pack the cold weather clothes were wearing lol. My best friend just flew down to fla today hoping she gets some warm while she's there.

Will be there in 2 weeks!! Even as a passholder, the excitement never fades before trips! :cool1: All I have to do in the meantime is finish up this last week of school (going online...it's intense) & pass Statistics. :teacher: Hanging out in the parks is a nice reward after a rough semester. Now if only I could tear myself away from this site...;)

So I know there are other threads that discuss groceries and such but wanted to see what other Feb WDW visitors think.

My hokie plan is to (1) pack kids snacks, breakfast bars and a few other non-heavy, non-perishable supplies in a checked bag which we may use for souvenirs on the way back and (2) order milk, fruit and bottled water through garden grocer.

I was thinking of making the garden grocer order after our first day there just in case we don't have a working refrigerator. Am I being overly worried about the frig? I'm at POR.

Also, wondered if anyone had used the brita water bottles with success? I've never tried them and wondered if I should be a little friendlier to the environment.

All POR and POFQ rooms have working refrigerators now.

I haven't used the Brita bottles but I've heard great things about them. I think they pay for themselves after less than 5 uses.

February 16 to 21 at POP. Our first stay at POP.

It's his first trip back since President's week 2009. I went on an adults only trip April 2013.

We are excited! Only 3 weeks of school before our break.

Thanks!

When I made my ADRs I didn't note that my mom will be in a wheelchair, she can transfer to a regular chair but I would like them to know. Does anyone know how I can add this?
