February 2014 Code watch

hi!

i've read the last 10 pages or so and didn't see it mentioned. has the princess weekend historically been blacked out of discounts that are offered? even if it's only room only, we would be looking at huge savings that can then be spent on more drinks at epcot.:rotfl:

I had free dining last year for princess weekend--had pin code for room only discount this year--princess dates ok. Hoping for dining again!! :-)

Hmm ok explain "cold". Is it Massachusetts snow storm cold or I live in a place where it doesn't snow so if I have to wear more than a light jacket I'm freezing?
Not trying to be picky, but we have been thinking about a February escape and looking at the weather charts they are talking 70s in Florida with 50s at night. That would be warm for me in February. So I know cold is a subjective opinion depending on where you are from and what you are used to.

Thanks for explaining.

We were there last Feb 5 to 11 and had beautiful sunny weather with the highs in the 70's. It was great.

We have been in WDW when it was cold, and last March had lows in the 30's and highs in the 50's for a short period. We're from Chicago, so know what cold weather can be like. But we also have central heating and our buildings are insulated. Most buildings in the parks are not heated. Most of the stores leave their doors open. We were there once in January when the highs never got out of the 50's and even with our winter coats, hats and gloves, we were cold. Think what it is like to spend a day outdoors when the temps are in the 50's and there is no where to warm up, except your resort room, maybe a table service restaurant, or a few of the attractions. I don't think we were as cold as the people who weren't used to cold weather, though. They looked very cold. :)

Ok thanks for that explanation. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't someone from warmer weather describing cold. LOL
Yes Chicago knows cold.
50s I could maybe deal with, but 30s I wouldn't feel like I really got a break from up here. So if we do book our long weekend February get away, I might have to pack some fleece. And that long underwear. Kind of like the umbrella. If I pack it I won't need it. I hope.

We'll see what kind of incentives come out for February. Right now I'm looking at February 2nd through maybe the 4 or 5th. Not sure.
We are really just looking for a get away and won't be going to all the parks and such. Just some nice places to eat (booked ADRs in case) and some entertainment. I was looking at MK and Epcot only. We will have visited HS and AK this November on our longer vacation.

I would not even consider this if flights were not decent right now. An airport close by is reopening and JetBlue is giving reasonable options.
We'll see. I don't even know who I will go with. Might be a girlfriend but might be Hubby. Again it will all depend on what Disney gives me for discounts/incentives. And how many reward points I save before then.

I like dreaming and isn't Disney World where dreams come true?

:wizard: :goodvibes

We were there this past march and it was cold! Holy smokes there were a few nites sweatshirts werent enough lol.
Still better than the northeast. Ugh...as i get older i hate the snow and all that comes with it more and more.
We go in feb just to get away from the white crap n below freezing temps. Someday i swear i will stay in fl lol.
Now bring on the spd discount disney so i can afford some heating oil too. Blech...

I think it's so hard to predict what the Florida weather will be. We went this year right after the 1st of January and Florida had record highs almost every day we were there. It was beautiful. Shorts every day. I'm from Wisconsin and it was fantastic. I always look at it this way, even if it's "cold", it will still (hopefully) be warmer than it is in Wisconsin and if nothing else ... there is green grass and no snow!!!

Like PPs said, last March we were there and it was 30-50 degree weather. When the sun shined it was nice, but there was a slight breeze that kept it chilly 90% of the time. And like I mentioned, we had a 4 month old with us, so it was more nerve wracking trying to make sure she was warm since we were outside all day (but of course she was fine). Usually it's been in the 70s and 80s when we've gone in March, this was just a fluke. So I've learned even if it's on the chilly side, we can adapt!

I think it was February 17th of this year that we went. My DD16 and her BF went and it was 36 degrees I think. Everyone was buying out the throws including us. I wanted to go back to the room but the kids wanted to stay until the end of EMH which was 2 am which it was even colder. Needless to say I got a cold from that night that lasted the rest of the trip. This year I am going to take vitamin C before our trip and leave the kids at the park and go back to the room if it gets that cold.

Take Vitamin D3 before your trip along with Vitamin C and drink extra water to flush the germs from your system while on your trip. The D3 is the key! (Sorry DH is a Physician and preaches it all the time :) it does work for us though.

I've become a fan of "Airborne" It has the Vitamin C and others. My multi-vitamin has D3. I find that taking these also helps to keep my allergies in new environments in control. About 5 years ago I was not doing well with these things and the Flower/Garden in April in Florida killed me. My body was not ready for the environment change.

Thanks everyone for the clarification on "cold". I'll be sure to pack my warmer fleece jacket just incase.
And I agree if you are that cold, go back to the room.
I hope once my decisions are set on February there is nice weather making it worth my escape.

We check in the Saturday after MLK weekend each year and have never had to wear pants in the past 6-7 years. Mind you we are coming from 3 feet of snow so anything about 55 is a heat wave for us.

I know we may have a month or so before discounts are released yet, I can't wait for the scoop!

I'm so confused! I want to book my dates, but debating about waiting for a bounce back offer when we go in November. But then again the February trip is a shorter trip so really waiting for maybe 5% is it worth it since the flights already went up $20 and will go up more if I wait.

Why I listen to people saying "Do you think you would want to go again that soon?" Um who doesn't want to run away frequently? And if you love Disney, often?

Appreciate the good vibes so I can make this decision soon.

I understand... we leave tomorrow and already have a trip booked for December.... now we are thinking of a long weekend for the food and wine festival.....

Oh good. You made me feel better. LOL
At least I know the idea isn't totally insane.

I just talked to the friend that might come with me and she forgot to talk to her husband. LOL Ok obviously she is not a big Disney person.
I told her I wanted to know before the rates are released and the tickets for airlines get too high.

I'm so jealous of you all that get to go to Disney so frequently! I'll be lucky if I get to go again in 5 years!
I say go as often as you an and enjoy!

If some HUGE life changing stuff wasn't going on in March for us, I probably wouldn't be considering going for at last 2-3 more years.
But I seem to be in the "go before I can't" mode.

Thanks for the good vibes!

I would book my package when promos are released. In the case you score an better bounce back you can cancel the original and take the bounce back :)

Subbing!! Heading down for the Princess Half weekend (running in the 10K on Saturday). Really hoping for a RO discount - I have an AP, so the SPD would do nothing for me. 35% at the deluxe of my choice please ;)

Hope everyone gets the discount they're dreaming of :thumbsup2

We have 2 rooms at WL for Feb 20-27th, hoping for AP discount, have AAA right now. We are going down for Princess half and grandson 4th bday. Just applied AP to reservations in Oct for TOT 10 miler weekend.

Has anyone heard when the discount will be released for February 2014 yet? I made my resort reservation tonight and the wonderful agent at wdw said to watch for discounts soon. Yay
