February 2013 Discount Watch

The Magic For Less Travel just announced discounts for Disney Visa cardholders. Does anyone know what these discounts are? Here is the facebook post:

Walt Disney World has released a new Disney Visa cardholder room discount for January 2 - March 7 travel dates. Significant restrictions apply and discounts begin at 5% and vary by resort and travel dates.

The discount for POFQ is 5%. I switched to CSR for a 25% discount! :cool1: I also had the CM price out WL which was a 25% discount also. I'm not sure about the other resorts though.

Anyone know if AOA Little Mermaid rooms are excluded?

Where do you find this? I just booked WL on Monday for our pre-cruise stay, still hoping for FD though.

I called WDW as soon as I saw the announcement on the Disboards came out. The CM was so patient with me as I had her price out POFQ, POR, CSR and WL. All of them were 25% off except for POFQ which was only 5%.

You have to book with a Disney Visa card though. I imagine that the discount will go to the general public on Monday, but that's just my own prediction.

Thank you so much! I did book with my Disney Visa :goodvibes

just booked GF for 2/3 to 2/9, on hold for less than 10 mins

GF garden view

rack 480.00
visa offer 312.00

35% off

could've done BC for $234 a night, but figured it's my 50th so what the heck?

I just applied the new discount and want to clarify. I had a really great CM and he explained what it is a little bit more. There are two discounts. The first is a room only discount and I didn't go much further than that with the percentages.

The second is called Play/Stay/Dine and if you book all three items on your package it gives a certain amount off. It is up to $600 at a value resort. I'm staying at CSR and it took $765 off my package which worked out to roughly 20% total. Not QUITE as good as FD but very very close for us. I'm very happy! We are staying 8 nights, Jan 31-Feb 8, 9 day MYW tickets without hopper, and regular dining plan. The CM said he wasn't sure exactly how the percentage was coming off (if it was a few days free or an overall percentage).

Hope this helps! I'm anxious to see the full details in writing so I can figure out what the discount might have been for other resorts.

Just thought I would pass along. It might make sense to have the CM price out both discounts for you to see which is better. For us, the package discount was $400 better than RO.

Woo Hoo! Just called to check on a discount, I had a package without dining booked. We're only staying 3 nights pre-cruise at WL and saved $347.46 (25%) for the 3 of us, so I added dining and my total cost only went up $38.26 - so almost FD :)

Overall, a little pricier than previous stays because of our last night being 2/15/13, which is the start of President's week when prices go way up.

I'll have to watch for those details. I'm pretty sure I got the RO discount. I only asked about the Dis Visa discount and my call had a bit of static so I had a hard time hearing her.

I had my TA call and apparently the Contemporary Theme Park View is excluded from BOTH offers. :sad1: So frustrating!!

Booked Visa package deal (2/27 to 3/3) for 3 adults.....4 nts POR, magic your way dining, 5 day with park hopper tics...Came out to $2091. Did the numbers and had we been able to get FD it would have been $2011 so its pretty darn close. Booking same deal with RO discount was approx $300 more than package deal..... its definetly was the was for us to go staying at a moderate!!:thumbsup2

Woo Hoo! These posts just made my day. Applied the play/stay/dine discount using my Disney Visa to my current reservation at POR - saved "close" to free dining (amounted to about 5 days of free dining, we are staying 8 nights). So, not FD, but close enough I'll take it! According to the CM, only the Royal Rooms at POR were being offered at the RO 30% off rate - and we need the murphy bed - so play/stay/dine it is! So excited that this deal came out on my birthday. What a great present!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Yay for new discounts!!! I just booked for 8 nights for 2 adults and 2 kids, with regular dining plan at the French Quarter, 1 day park tickets for $2416.08. We did one day tickets because we upgrade them to season passes once we get there.

This is *almost* as good as free dining, so I'll take it!

Just wanted to clarify that all of you that have booked the discount are Disney visa holders?? I just called and booked this morning and unfortunately had no pins associated with my account. The very nice CM sounded encouraging that a public discount would be coming soon. Any ideas on how long after the visa discounts come out that the public ones do? oh and btw both my mailing AND email addresses were incorrect in their system!!! So glad I called!

Yes I am a visa holder and offer states the 10th it opens to public

Definitely depends on who you talk to. My second call got me $280 more off the price. I kept asking the first CM if it wasn't a package deal and she said it was room only. I decided to just have my AAA agent call for me the second time. I got 6 nights at POR in Gardenview (standard was not available), 7 day PH and full dining plan. 2 adults, 1 child = $2400. It comes to around $2600 online without dining, so I figured we came about $200 shy of free dining. I'll take it!

Now I gotta add a few ADRs!

Just booked 02/08--2/12 at Pop Century with a Standard Pool View for two adults, a 12 yo and an 8 yo with 4 day PH and QS dining and saved $491 as compared to "rack rate" I asked the CM what is discounted and she said, "The room" If my calculations are correct for four nights I must have gotten the room for free. :cool1:
