Hi all

My friend asked me for some advice, as her and her hubby are thinking of going to Disney in February. We have never been in February so I thought I might ask the experts here on disboards. They are looking at going at the beginning of February and their questions are: are most rides open in February (mainly haunted mansion and small world), what are crowd levels like at the beginning of February, and what is the weather like in February?

February 08 (Last weekend in February) Cold Rainy, Rainy, Rainy the whole time during our visit. Crowds during that trip? None! We rode most rides by noon at Disneyland! No rides where closed that trip. Then February 2010 (presidents weekend) Sunny warm high 80's! Crowds where insane! busy busy busy! California Adventure was totally under construction it was a bummer, absolutely a ghost town. Only down side to Anaheim in February it can be very rainy I think its the rainiest month.

Much higher chance of rain in February. Haunted Mansion should be open, but Small World may or may not be depending on when they close it to remove the holiday overlay (they try not to close both at the same time). Also Matterhorn will be down for about 6 months in early 2012. Splash is often closed in Feb/march, but I haven't heard any definite dates yet.

We like going the first part of Feb, and have gone to DL twice during this time, so I've got some info for you. First off the weather can be hit and miss. The first trip in Feb/09 we encountered a combo of warm weather one day and showers the next. It's best to be prepared and bring clothes that you can layer, as it does get cool at night. Feb/11 we didn't encounter rain, and it was sunny and warm, but not hot the entire time we were down there. Just go to the dollar store and pickup some rain poncho's just in case. As for crowds...during the week the crowds were very light, and the weekends were much heavier. There will be more rides down for refurbishment, and they had Critter Country closed for refurbishment while we were down there in Feb. There is not as many shows, and parades, but the light crowds more than make up for it. Hope that this helps.

February is off-season. That has pros and cons. Here is some more info your friend should understand:

We just booked Jan 31-Feb 4 at GCV!!!! Very excited... if it rains, it rains! Since it's our first time, if something is closed... it'll just be an excuse to go back!! We're just excited to go--I did a bit of reading and I think it'll be great for us given our schedule next year!!

February 28th 2008 birthday trip was Hot! Very nice with a medium range of guests.
February 28th 2010 birthday trip it POURED! but non of the rides were closed and we had a good time :) I even want to say that Splash was open, not that we wanted to ride it in the rain. lol our last day of the trip was so nice out :)

Thanks for the tips. So it looks like haunted mansion and small world would be open by feb 1?
