Okay...here we go. First timers to DL or to CA for that matter. Two adults w/no kids. Was planning on making our trip for Jan. 2012 but found out there are a couple conventions in Aneheim to worry about and we were told we don't want to consider this month for that reason, MKL day, and kids going back to school after their holiday vacation that goes through the second week.

Anyway, tell me about February....we want to go the 4-10 so that means a 6 day park hopper tickets we want to purchase. We of course, make the parks the highlight of the trip but still wanting to do the other touristy attractions in LA (Hlywd. Sign, Rodeo Drive, Mann's theater, etc.). Where can we get a good deal on park hoppers? Looking at $ 271.00 pp form Disney's website. Are there any deals out there?? I have tried AAA and Costo...no go. We do have a friend who lives out there but don't know if there's a good discount offered to the cali residents.

We have done a lot of research...Feb. is in the middle of the rainy season and see that the crowd level will be a little lower at this time of the year. I just hope we won't get there and have a washout the week we visit. :sad2:

So, with all of this said, I wish I could find out what rides will be closed down for refurbs. and if the the Water Color show will still be going then. ELECTRONICA so I have read, will be going through Spring 2012 which I cannot wait to check out! We are very excited about this trip and just want to go at the right time where we can see everything at the park and most all the rides will be open. This is tough! LOL

ANY...tips/advice/thoughts...throw our way please.

Thank you very much...have a wonderful day!:thumbsup2

we'll be there jan 31-feb 4! i've read a lot about the rain so far... but that doesn't bother us much!

The only trip I have made to any Disney park was in February 2010. Apparently it was very rainy for So Cal that year. There were flash floods and lots of damage.
We did take our rain gear and yes...we did use it. The only problem we had was wet feet.
The downside of going in Feb is that there WILL BE refurbishments and the hours Monday thru Thursday are 10am to 8pm.There are no fireworks or Fantasmic on those days either.
However, the trade offs are great. We are not early morning risers so 10am opening was perfect and we stayed through till closing. We saved our shopping for the end of the day as main Street shops were open till 9.
We never waited more than 20 minutes for ANY attraction and in fact we rode POTC 3 times without getting off because there were no people in line.
The ROA was drained when we went so that took a lot of things out of play for us but we didn't care because there was SO much else to do.
We spent 6 days in the parks and still didn't get to see everything.
We are going again in February 2013.We were going to go in 2012,but with all the chaos at DCA,we thought we would wait one more year as travelling from Canada is getting very expensive.:headache:
The only thing we will do differently is pack rubber overshoes. They slip right over our runners and we can still wear our comfy shoes AND have dry feet.
You will love DL in February. The flowers and trees are starting to bloom and the days are warm and the evenings only need a hoodie and jeans.Have fun. I can't wait till it's 2013.

the only long range refurb news i have heard is that Matterhorn will be down for like the first 5-6 months of 2012. DCA will still be a mess. And there will likely be other refurbs with at least one major ride down for a lengthy refurb.

World of Color has run nightly since it opened so you are good there.

Hope the rain stays aways for you! :)

Do you have any friends or family in the military? We are also going in Feb. My borther-n-law is packing upt he tickets on base. They had two types; 1) Was a special promotion for military members and there family. Those had a limit and required ID. 2) Was a discounted rate of 178 for 3-day park hooper. No limit or ID. Seemed like a good deal to me.

Congrats of your upcoming trip! We'll be there at the same time (8-11). It will be our third Jan/Feb trip in three years. We have ran into rain (2010 was WET!), but we love how the parks become deserted during the rain. :thumbsup2

We were going to go the 1-4, but I found a refurb list that shows Soarin' down during that time. http://media.disneywebcontent.com/StaticFiles/DTA-Domestic/pdf/D-MailPDF/IntlDmailDLRefurbishments.pdf And that is a big no-no in our family! ;)

And I don't think you will miss out on WOC, it was going last year at that time.
