Wow thanks for this info! We are going Feb 18-27. I was able to get a minivan for 9 nights/10 days for 415.00 including all taxes and add ons! Thank you!:goodvibes

Yeah, I know it will be higher from the Car Care Center - but I have to balance the $ against asking my husband to drive a rental car from the airport to our Resort.

From my perspective, the benefits of having somebody handle our luggage and get us to/from the airport outweigh the extra costs. My husband hates driving, and he really gets cranky when he has to navigate unfamiliar roads, major highways and anything involving airports. You all can debate in private which I'm really trying to do - spare him the hassle of driving or spare me the hassle of dealing with him being hassled. But either way its worth a few $. Our original trip was a carribean cruise so as it stands right now, the trip is costing less, we have free dining, our airfare is 1/2 the price it would be to FT Lauderdale to get the cruise ship, CSR just got free wifi and my credit card is paying for my rental insurance. I figure I'm so far ahead its worth paying for somebody else to drive the major parts and just have the car for things like decreased travel times to the parks and resort adrs. If hubby starts being cranky about that, we'll take the bus until he changes his mind ;)

I know I'm a National Member, and I think I'm an Alamo member. I'll have to update both with my recently renewed drivers lics. number and check to see if the emails are on for them. I don't think I want to wait till February 6th to book a February 12th car. I guess if I don't like the prices I'll book it and keep checking back for better deals.

What? CSR just got free wifi?

Yep! Coronado Springs has free Wifi in all the rooms now. They added it to all of the Deluxe resorts recently and in the process CSR got it also because its their conference hotel. Gotta make the business travelers happy! There have been some reports of free wifi at one of the Port Orleans resorts also but to my knowledge that hasn't been made official yet unlike the CSR. Can't say I mind saving $10 a day for the internet!

i used auto slash and got an economy for $120.00 for 9 days..its "Advantage" so waiting for alamo to drop..but well be there PRES. day so might not drop too much...

Thnak you so much for the Budget code and coupon! I got a minivan for Pres Week for 299 incl tax, and that is for MCO pickup and Sanford drop off. Thank you thank you!!!!:worship:

Still trying to get a better rate than $280 for Feb 4 - 11.

It just seems very high. We need 2 cars and really mine needs to at least be mid-size/standard.

Its been a few years since I have had to rent a car. I have to go with Enterprise since its the only local rental. Of course being in NH and going to FL, I have to cross their 'borders'. ugh! Last time they worked with us and gave us unlimited for more $.
Any Enterprise discounts would be sooo apreciated! Right now 2weeks is at apprx $550. Which isnt too bad at all. Afraid of that border issue. Anyone had to deal with that?
How much do they hit your cc for when you reserve? Whole amount or just partial? Do they charge it at all or just make sure its valid??

thanks for any help :goodvibes

Trying to get a 4 day rental from St. Petersburg airport in early February. The Budget coupon listed earlier in this thread is for a 5 day rental minimum, so it doesn't apply. Cheapest price I've found is with Budget for $114 ($150 with all taxes) and this is for an economy car. Do you think this is as good as it can get for early February?

When I rented from Alamo in November, I watched rates from both MCO and the CCC and the Car Care Center was always MUCH higher than renting from the airport. I ended up getting a standard-size for something like $120 from MCO for the week, and when we got there several small-size SUV's were parked in the standard-size aisle. So we ended up getting a great deal for a Jeep!

We often rent from CCC and pick up the car later in our trip because the prices are lower than at the airport. But I think the time of Pres Week is quirky that way...I check and re-check the prices, they go up and down (sometimes hourly). I snagged a great deal on a crossover (whatever that is going to end up being) for our dates Feb 16-24 from CCC for $329. And that was without a coupon or id code yet (I'll add those later).

I re-checked this with rentalcarmomma and it came down to 301, but we need the free extra driver so we won't be using that site. If you don't need the free extra driver, she might work for you. :goodvibes:

Not sure how many people are travelling but you can also get a minivan with Budget using BCD x474200 (travelocity public code) and E-Coupon MUGZ029 for $30 off. Total inc taxes after $30 coupon is applied when return vehicle is $329.27. This includes free additional driver as well.

Still hoping to find a better rate for February. For now, I'm keeping my Budget reservation for $472 less coupon to make it $442 for Feb 11-21, 2012.

Alamo is still crazy high. I keep checking though.

My Alamo rate for 2/25-3/3 dropped by $20 (was $186, now $165) used a code for Visa cardholders and a $30 coupon (both found on Visa site). I am picking up at MCO but dropping off at TPA.

So jealous of everyone's great bargains. We are flying in/out of TPA 2/22-2/26 and I can't get anything for under $265 including taxes. I did notice I could lower my rate with Alamo & National if I booked on the hour instead of the half hour and brought the car back at noon rather than 10AM ..go figure!

Any ideas? Or, do I just need to ride it out a little until my dates are closer?

So I've got the Budget reserved using those codes but mine comes out to $359.27 after taxes. So If I read correctly they knock another $30 off that when you return vehicle?

The time you return can make a difference between a 4 day rate and a 5 day rate. 5days= weekly rate. IE: pickup on 2/22 @ 10am drop off on 2/26 @ 10am gives you a 4 day rate. Add anything over 2 hours and you go to weekly rates. I would love to know why that half hour is so weird.
