FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

At the rate our family is going with all of our illnesses, we will be really easy to spot at the World. We will be the family enclosed in the giant bubble.:lmao:

On the bright side, I am feeling a tad better, DS is active again. DD is another story. She is sleeping, a very odd thing for her to do. She is my energizer child. She usually keeps going, and going, and going. So, when she is sleeping at 1 in the afternoon..she is sick. Hopefully she will get better soon. Thanks for the prayers. I know they work.

Good health to all. 10 days and counting, and praying for better health.

What are we packing? What does the weather look like for us? I keep looking and it appears to be in the 60's, but that can change at ANY time. Does anybody have any experience with the weather in February?

Layers is the magic word I thin. Last year we were in Florida 2/7-2/24 (not all the time at WDW) and the first week was mainly quite warm, mid 70's. But then it became really cold and the morning we were scheduled to go on a manatee swim in Crystal River, it was sooo cold! I think it was 40 degrees outside! Being in the water was ok, the springs are warm, but getting out was sooooo cold!!! So: you can never tell, be prepared for everything, and don't forget to bring some warm clothes!

I'm bringing layers, as mentioned. On the national weather this morning the forecaster said that the system of cold air that has been pushing south shoule shift back north "soon" (hopefully, this week!) and that Feb, Mar & April are predicted a bit warmer than normal.

I'm planning on pants, long sleeve shirts, a couple of layering shirts and a light fleece or two for each of us. I am also bringing bathing suits (I swam in Jan. 2002) and a hat and gloves in case of cold evenings (they take up so little room in the suitcase).

What about everyone else?

We have gone the last two years, same week of February. 06 there were a couple of days that had frost warnings and I had to bundle the kids up in jackets, gloves, hats and scarves, but on that same trip they swam and went to the water park twice. Last year was nice, warm a couple of days, a little rain, but not really cold, we only needed sweatshirts in the evenings. Blizzard Beach was closed a couple of days because of clouds and threatening lighting, but we did make it to the water parks.

I also pack in layers taking shorts, capris and jeans, sweatshirts, gloves, scarves, beanies and thermals just in case!

I will pray for you children to get better. I think it is the crazy weather we have been having that is making us sick. It is hot one day and cold the next. My DD 15 has been coughing all week and I just started coughing today. I made the kids get a flu shot and I might go take one this week. Do you think it is too late for me to take one?

thanks for the prayers. I need them at this point. I am almost ready to give up. DD has been sick since before the new year. I feel defeated. :sad2:

Sorry yours are sick also. I hope they get better. The reports that I have seen..from dr. and such say that as long as the flu hasn't really started around here that it isn't too late for the shot. As far as I know..there really haven't been any cases of the flu around here.

thanks Carmen for the report. That is what I was hoping for. However, it may be a mute point for me if kiddos and I don't get better. Still hoping and praying for the best though. I have been planning this trip for sooo long now, I can't just give up now.

I sympathize with y'all sooooo much! We've been battling illness since before Christmas off and on, son then daughter to husband back again. I got really depressed earlier at work when I got DD6 bloodwork results back showing no reason for her being so awfully sick last week and on top of that DS3 started a bad cough after sinuses all weekend. DH is sick AGAIN since Dec. and I've got a nagging pain in my head since Sunday that I hope is just sinuses. It's so hard to stay positive and I've been venting in my PTR but like you, I've been planning this for so long, it just has to work out.

Single digits dance for me today and I know for a few others.. boogie with me :cool1: :cool1:  :woohoo: :dance3:  :woohoo:  :cool1: :cheer2: ...

9 days left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lori

9 days for us!!!!:woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cool1:

Thanks DisneyMom. I hope it all passes for all of us. We didn't come this far for nothing.

Sorry Coteau Chic...took DD to dr. and its official..flu season has officially started in our area. DD was positive for it. Dr. and the pharmacist said it really started this week. That Tamaflu medicine appears to be in short supply. They gave me the last few boxes for the kids, but said they were out of it for adults. BTW..I had to go to two pharmacies to get it. First one was out completely. My next stop was to your hub's Super One. I hope all the pharmacies get more in.

Please God let this be the last of the illnesses for our little family. We so need this Disney Trip. Hope to see you all soon.

Oh NO!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

If you see a crazy lady in town wearing a ski mask that will be me. Maybe if I keep my head covered every time I leave the house I won't catch the flu. I put off getting my flu shot because it was a hassle to leave the baby and I didn't want to take her with me and expose her to the germs in the doctors office. At her pediatrician's office they have a well babywaiting area. I should have asked the pediatrician's nurse to give me a flu shot when the kids got their's . Last time we went to Disney World for Mardi Gras we all had the flu a week before we left to go to Disney. DH still was feeling bad the first two days there. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Okay well we haven't gotten sick, but DD10 is sounding congested!! when she gets congested, it usually becomes a sinus infection. I'll be pullin' out the snotty potty (neti pot) tonight and tomorrow. See if we can ward it off, if she still has signs by next Monday-we're off to the doc.

Worse than being sick though, my husbands older brother diedtoday. He was 50 and had major heart problems, so it may have been a heart attack. It was a suprise though as who plans on a 50 year old passing away. I feel for his mom, as we should all pass on before our children-ouch. Of course, I am sorry for his wife, daughter and granddaughters, also. On top of that, I called my dad minutes later to tell him what happened and he sounded BAD-worse than I have ever heard him. Well, he is in the ER right now with my sister and my brother from Gozales is on his way b/c my DN5 has strep, ear infection, and impetigo but no fever-she is in great spirits and you'd never know she was sick. He is a diabetic and it seems he has the flu, his sugar is high and he has 101 fever. You know you have to be careful when diabetics get sick. His health has deteriorated over the past years drastically.

uggghhhhh........................ sigh..........................................:sad2: :sad1: :guilty:

My DH was off early today as to help make funeral arrangements for his bother:sad1: . We are working on about 3 hours of sleep b/t his deatha nd my dads illness.

Disney will be even prettier to us next week.

Lori, I'm sorry to hear about your BIL. My FIL's sister passed Fri, we had the services yesterday. I hope your dad feels better soon.

My dd has been congested since Fri, and this morning I woke up with it and a sore throat and just feel like I got ran over by a mac truck. Hope everyone is feeling better soon. I so can't wait until next week.
Sharon

Lori, prayers for you and your BIL.

Ugh...three people in my office were diagnosed with the Flu this week! You can't see my desk due to the cloud of lysol surrounding it :rotfl: The family and I are taking our vitamins, and using Purell. As Mickey as my witness, I will not be sick for Disney!!!

Lori, my sympathies for the passing of your BIL. I am praying that your father and family will be well soon. To all of you with sick kids, etc. let's pray for health and healing. Sometimes I visualize my immune system fighting off the bad stuff while I am saying my prayers. I also tell my kids "you'll be well soon, your body heals quickly" figuring that positive thinking can only help.

I hope to see all of you in good spirits and health at WDW for Mardi Gras!
