FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

It is freezing over here..I think we have a busted pipe too. On the bright side, DD and I stayed up last night to finally work on our big Disney Countdown poster. Again, I think I was more excited. DD says,"Mom, let me know when the fun stuff happens," and then she took off. At that time I was drawing lines with the ruler and such. They are so funny. Anyway, I think I am off to buy gloves for today and Disney. I know they will come in handy. :cheer2:

DS had his disney beanie on today - I'm hoping it won't be nearly this cold when we go............ brrrrrr brrrrr

I hope your pipe isn't busted - that wouldn't be good!!!

Started our EPCOT study today- from here on out "hello's" and "thank yous" will be in Malay(Singapore, for good measure!!), Spanish, French, Chinese(mandarin), Japanese, Darija(one of the many from Morocco-Islam with a twist of French) Norwegian(Is that a language, I don't remember from my research!!), German, or Italian!! Or even the UK- "Hello, old chap!" "My name is Bond, James Bond".

I think this EPCOT unit study is gonna fan the flames of anxiousness for WDW!!!:rotfl:

Lori

Lori, IF you want too.......... post daily and let us know what each "hello" is........ I'd love to be able to say hello in each country the native way!!!

I'll start - Since we'll be at AKL - to say Hello is "Jambo"

I have them all posted on my pre-trip report but this sounds like MORE fun!!

PLUS we only have "hello's" and "thank yous" from the 12 world showcases and Singapore and Hawaiian!!

OK-who's first...

Japan hello-konnichi wa:wave2:

:thanks:in Japanese is 'arigato' which makes the whole "Mr. Roboto" song by Styx make a LITTLE more sense(me and DH had this converstation about an hour ago :hyper2: -"double arigato, Mr Roboto...."

If anyone else knows anu others please post!! I can USE you all as teacher helpers!!!

From one Minnesotan to another, if you can spare the extra change to get a town car, do it! It is quicker (no waiting in long lines or stopping at multiple resorts), and the driver will meet you at baggage claim to assist with your luggage. A town car through Mears Transportation, for example, is about $70 one way so there is a signigicant expense compared to the free ME service. But the car is clean, quiet, and quick. BTW, a taxi will also be right around $50 or more one way to WDW, and there again, you run a risk of standing in line at the cab stand and/or getting a filthy car. DW and I do a town car at every opportunity. One other advantage is the return trip to the airport and is much more relaxing in a town car then via the ME. Again it will run $60 back to the airport, but you are paying for peace and quiet, relaxation, and a bit of luxury. :thumbsup2

BTW, you would probably make your 6pm res just fine if you take the ME, however, there are more variable in place to help make things a bit more rushed!

Thanks for the advice. I think we'll look into the town car. I see that you mentioned Mears Transportation. How'd you find out about them? I'd like to call around and try to find the best deal.

Stay warm! These past few days in MN have been frigid. Supposedly the big warm up is coming this weekend. I sure do hope they're right!

Hey!!!!! Even if you aren't coming to the P&PP - if you can, try to come to the mini meet on 2/2 at 6:30-:45 in front of the Jungle Cruise!!!!! We'd love to meet ya!

I'm sorry to say that I won't be at the Magic Kingdom that day. We arrive on 2/2 and it's our tradition to go to DTD on arrival day and to eat at the Rain Forest Cafe. I have reservations for 5:30 for a party of 12. I know lots of you are staying at POP so I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for some lime green mickey heads.

I don't know about the rest of you Louisiana folk.....but I am freezing my crawfish tail off!!!!! It has been in the low 20s here in Alexandria for the last few nights. I think tonight will be the first night with no freezing temp.

I guess that will make the weather in the Bahamas that much better in a month!

I am so ready to get this vacation started! I can't even sleep well at night!

5 Blind Mice,

No problem on the advice. I just hope it ends up being good! :) Anyway, we just knew that Mears was one of the bigger transportation companies in Orlando. They are the company that Disney contracts with to do the ME from what I understand. I can't argue against them, as they are the only ones we have used and each time they have been prompt and professional. I also can't argue against anyone else for the aforementioned reason, I just haven't experieced anyone else. Since I don't know if I am able to post links to web pages here, I just went to Mears Transportation dot com.... ;) You can get price quotes and book your town car right on their web site.

Sounds like it will be all the way up to 40 here this weekend. Sure beats the heck out of the -7 from earlier this week! :thumbsup2 Another great reason why we are going back to WDW on January 31st!

Chinese has many variations. I beleive this is Mandarin Chinese...

Chinese 'hello'-ni hao......(ni ha OW)
Chinese 'thank you'-xie xie..........(shei shei)

Your foreign language lesson for the day!! Tomorrow....How to say 'hello' and 'thank you' from Norway!! My kids are having fun with this so we may expand to "please's also!!

Gotta go, getting a late 'warm in bed' start today!!! Thank heaven for heated blankets!! I only have used them while tent camping but pulled them out last week and boy, do they feel yummy at night!! It's that "warm blanky you get in the hospital feeling when you are freezing" ahhhhhh! The kids crawled in my bed and we did my DD8's calendar for the year in there-so not all was lost!!

We are studying China today.

Isn't it great!!! I am pulling out the suitcases this week!:cool1: Got my packing list all done printed out, finishing up the outfit spreadsheet:rolleyes1. Will go through the toiletries tomorrow to see if I have enough from the freebie board or will I have to buy more.

I am still on the fence about cashing out my sunshine rewards Disney Dollars. I am only at $105 right now, but sounds like a special will be coming at the end of the month.

I know everyone is talking about car services, but I just wanted to say we've used ME twice (Dec 2005 and Sept 2006) with great results both times. We were checked into our hotel within 1 hour of landing at MCO. Luggage was delivered within 2-3 hours with no trouble. Our return trips were good as well. We are using it again for this trip. Hopefully, we'll have great results again!

BTW, 1st trip was at the GF, 2nd CR, and this time we'll be at the CR.

I didn't mind the arrival part, it was the departure that I didn't like in comparison to the private service we had for our first trip. Also, with ME we have to be back the resort 3 hours before our flight. With a private service it's 2
