FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

OH Sabrina, I could never forget you-I am sorry I did not include California in there-I was having temporary tunnel vision and previously had a mai tai at dinner that night and it took me everthing in me to go do the Santa thing that I normally enjoy so much!! I am a lightweight when it comes to alcohol now-all I wanted to do was sleep!!!

That's my excuse and I'll stick to it!!:rotfl:

CANNOT wait to meet you guys and be in WDW!
::MinnieMo:donald::eeyore::figment:pooh::hmghost:36 days till we leave and 37 till we are on the grounds!! ::MickeyMo :dumbo::tigger::goofy:

My sister said the resorts are sold out for Mardi Gras week. Anyone know if this is true> Are we looking at Max crowds?

Are the schools in Cali off the first week of Feb. too?

Merry Christmas all...

No our schools aren't off, but it is Catholic Schools Week so the school is closed 2 days and the rest of the week there lots of assemblies and special lunches so they don't miss out on that much learning!

Lol.. It's o.k. Lori.. Sounds like you had a great Christmas!

It looks like they are sold out, but if I remember correctly this happened last year to, I check the rates every week and remember that some rooms opened up a few weeks before our trip

HI~~ Hope Everyone had a great Christmas - we did!!! Of course I've got the flu now......... it was my Christmas present from DH!! LOL

We are now in full Disney mode and cannot wait till time to go!!!

We are at 36 days!!! Whoo Hoo It's almost time for me to break out my suitcases!! :)

Is everyone ready to go???? :thumbsup2

Now that Christmas is over it's worse than before. My husband really thinks I've completely lost it. First thing on my mind, last thing on my mind. We (my almost 3 year old son and I) keep watching the Travel Channel Disney shows I recorded. He's the only one as excited as me and he's never been yet! Working in the school system, I have only one more paycheck before we go so I have split the rest of my list of things to get into 2 with snacks being my last to get. My son's bday party is next Saturday. If its this bad with something still to plan, uh-oh after that's over with. :rotfl: How's everybody else doing?

I just watched the WDW Christmas Parade aired on Christmas day to get my Disney fix for the night, so don't feel bad.

I did too but it only made me want to be there NOW. I so wanted to go for Christmas. We actually had our reservations for Dec. 15-22 but I switched to Mardi Gras so my DD would not miss much learning stuff. I am still excited though.

Can anyone PM me with good counter service recommendations? I know this is not a dining forum so I don't want to break the rules. But I want to ask you guys because most of you are fellow cajuns who tend to like the same type of food as me!!:santa:

I'll be there Mardi Gras week too, staying at the Grand Floridian (which I've never stayed at and I'm so excited). We are also going to try to go in December; We've never seen the Christmas decorations. As for counter service meals, I'm no help; we are just going to do those according to what area we are in at the time. Have a good trip!

I don't think posting a few counter service choices on a thread this long would be breaking the rules...I'm not a cajun but I am from the south...here are our favorite counter service restaurants

MK - Pecos Bills
Epcot - Sunshine Seasons (The Land)
AK - Pizzafari
MGM - Toy Story Pizza Planet

For the past 2 years we have taken 8 or 9 night trips but for 2008 we are planning 2 short trips...We're going for ESPN the Weekend also just happens to be mine and DH's birthdays and we are hoping to go for another short trip around Christmas since we haven't ever seen the Christmas decorations either.

Here's our list:

Magic Kingdom

Columbia Harbour House - near Haunted Mansion. They have soups and fried fish at reasonable prices ($7 range).....helps to get away from the burgers and chicken tenders syndrome.

Cosmic Ray's - in Tomorrowland. Burgers and Chicken. Awesome "fixins" bar.

Pecos Bill - in Frontierland. Burgers and Chicken. Awesome "fixins" bar with grilled onions, etc.

Epcot

China - Don't know the name...but, we usually do the counter service in China and get the Orange Chicken rice bowl. It's regular white rice with Orange Chicken on top for around $6 to $7.

Mexico - Again...don't know the exact name, but we do the outdoor Mexican counter service. Helps to get away from the burgers and chicken again.

Disney Studios

We really haven't found a great Counter Service place here. We tried the grilled chicken wraps at the Counter Service place near Lights, Motor, Action....but, the chicken was cold....yuck. We usually hit Sci Fi Diner and split an appetizer and the BBQ Ribs. Cost was around $30 for 2 adults and 1 child. We usually eat a burger near the Tower of Terror / RnR Coaster area.

Animal Kingdom

Pizzafari - Pizza...nothing else to say here.

Flame Tree BBQ - Excellent BBQ Pork or BBQ Beef sandwiches served with baked beans and corn on the cob. We always try to hit this one.

That's about it. We usually eat burgers and chicken more at the resort, so we try to change it up a little for our meals at the parks. We only do 2 or 3 table service meals and we usually hit Rainforest Cafe one night with Gift Cards from MyPoints.com.

35 Days....:yay:
Speed :teleport:

Thanks you guys.

I just booked ressies for DD and DS at bippity boppity boutique. DD is sooo excited. Only down side is DS wants to know why they won't be dressing him up as a pirate. Maybe Disney will offer that one day. :cloud9:

So what do they do for the boys?

There is some type of cheerleading competition going on at WDW during Mardi Gras week (read this on another forum). However, they should not affect park attendance that much. I checked on the Disney site this morning and all of the hotels are not booked. I only checked on a few, but there were still rooms available at CB and BW. WL and Poly were booked totally.

I still feel the crowds during Mardi Gras (since it is not Presidents' week) won't be nearly as bad as other holidays.

So what do they do for the boys?

From the Disney site:

Boys over 3 years old have their own special Cool Dudes Package, which includes colorful hair gel and confetti for $10.

He is still excited.

About the rooms and crowd levels..it is odd that resorts would be sold out because I just spoke with Disney and the CM that I spoke with said that tickets for Pirate and Princess party for Mardi Gras week are still plentiful (only about 15% sold) and the lady with Bippity Boppity Boutique said they don't have lots of ressies for the week either. Maybe people are just doing traditional Disney stuff.

BTW...I just spoke with DH...he is finally getting excited!!!! It's about time. I am way past excited.

Hope to see some fellow Purple and Gold travelers there. :wizard:

Forgot to add that the the Cool Dude Package is now $7 or $7.99. I forget which but that is what the lady told me.
