FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

Hi Sabrina,

Just noticed you are in LA, my DH and I have talked about going to Disneyland CA, is there any reason why you come from CA to FL for your trips? Is Disneyland not as good as Disney World ? I know they don't have as many parks, but that's about all I know.

For us Disneyland has always been a one day thing, two days tops but since we live only 10-15 minutes away we never stay on property and have never really considered it a vacation. Just a day at the park for us. Disney World is the one time a year where I get to spend 10 full days and nights with my kids, I think thats what makes it so special for us.

Disneyland Resort is great don't get me wrong if you have never been it is worth visiting. When you compare the resorts as a whole, Disney World is better. Parks - Disneyland totally beats out Magic Kingdom. Food - Disney World.

subbing to this one, too. Luckily we can be flexiable w/ our dates and go when the deal is best, but I *have* to go again before March!

I am so sad, and my kids are going to be VERY UPSET over Splash Mtn (their absolute #1 favorite and ALL they talk about riding.) I am hoping they might have it open early, or maybe at least during a P&PP.

Splash going down for refurb. Jan. 1 - Feb. 15

Oh no! I was so looking forward to those rides. Though Splash Mt was a maybe depending on the weather.

Oh no, My girls will be so upset about Splash Mountain. Where did you find this out? NNNOOOOOO, well as long as I can still eat at the Concourse once more before it closes......

It was on the TPAS board and it is on the WDW website for their calendar operational updates.

Okay, so there is one good thing about going during President's Week! I'm guessing that the expected larger crowds are one reason that both of these refurbs will be done by the 15th (the Friday of the long weekend).

I'm sooooo disappointed! The last time we went to WDW was in 2005 and my little girl was only 3 and a big scaredy cat. We didn't go on Snow White cuz I thought she'd be too scared. The last time I had been to DW before then was 1994!!!!!!!! Horrible I know! Finances were never there for us to go. So I've been waiting 14 years to go back on Snow White. Let me also mention that my little boy who will be 3 and NOT a scaredy cat LOVES Snow White! Maybe my husband will get to bring his middle school band back to perform this year for Easter and I'll stop my whining about missing out on Snow White - not to mention I wanted to ride Splash Mtn!:headache:

:sad1: SPLASH MOUNTAIIIIINNNNNNNN:confused3 :headache:    :scared: pirate: :sad2:
I got that news the other day on TGM and whhiinnnneddddd.
I was told to "get over it- it has to close sometime"-but in a nicer way than that sounds.

BUT, after being in DisneyLand back in February this year, and SM was closed for refurb, I had hope due to having this Feb '08 trip planned that I could ride it with my kids and DH!!!

I have to tell you, I am pretty bummed about it-2 days ago I was fumin':furious: :furious: , I want to write them a letter-but who would care about little ole' me-going to 2 Disney parks w/in a year and my ALLTIME,#1, FAVORITE ride in all of WDW!!!!!-missing out on that. And, yes, as my levelheaded poster answered on TGM, they DO have to close sometime. But it doesn't mean I am still not peeee---ooooeeeeddddddd:mad: and that a nasty mean looking "momma" look won't be thrown out at it as we pass it by-I just may not be able to look w/out crying-2 times w/in a year... crazy Disney people-they are all pirate: pirate: 's, taking my plunder!!!! ANY other ride could have been down in any park and I may have been bummed, but SM-arrrgggg.....

Are they usually pretty accurate with their dates, or do they ever open them early? My kids were so excited to ride Splash Mountain! They LOVE those kind of rides. Are there any other similar water rides at the other parks?

KAli River Rapids at Animal Kingdom is a water ride as well, but a bit wilder as it is not a log, but a raft, so you might end up going down hill backwards. It is also shorter and themed totally differently.

I know everyone is guessing there will be P&P parties next year due to some early schedualed closings at MK on Saturday nights. One such night is Feb 2nd the day we plan to arrive in Orlando. I had planned to spend that evening at Downtown Disney but now im kinda thinking a P&P party would be fun and just the perfect surprise for my 13 yr old.
Does anyone know what last years P&P party tickets cost? Did you have to use a regular ticket into the park as well? or is the event ticket all you need?

I wish they would hurry up and release the codes and the special events for Feb already!

You need a separate ticket if you plan on entering the park prior to the time stated on ticket. We are also planning on going to the P&PP Feb. 2 too!

Prices, I'm not sure but $48 for adults sounds about right... don't quote me on it!

Does anyone remember if the AP discount was given in the past on tickets purchased the day of the party or if it's just on tickets purchased in advanced?

The MVMCP and NSSHP that I attended w/ AP discount were only available on advance purchase tickets that was in dec 05 and oct 06.

On our last trip Buzz was down for refurb. which was a bummer, but on our last day they opened it - unscheduled and we rode it a good 25 times or more in a row...... in fact, I layed down on the bench right out front while DH and DS kept on riding it!!! So, Yes, there is a chance, but I would not bank on it!!!

We arrive on the 2nd as well and I've planned as if there will be a party. Last year the ADVANCED purchase price was around $41 + tax. (I believe around $48 +tax at the gate.) It is a seperate ticketed event, meaning that it is NOT included in your park ticket. However, if you don't want to go to the park that day, you can buy a ticket for the party only. They were letting people in at around 4 or 4:30 for the party, but at 7:00 anyone without a ticket/wristband were escorted out. It is a lot of fun, your DS will love it!!! Our plan is to have dinner at Liberty Tree at 5:30, so that we can get in line for Jack asap!!!! Last year they let you start lining up at 6:00 I think. The line was HOURS long to see him, as it is the ONLY time Jack does a meet & greet. We had a blast, the parade and fireworks were fantastic - some of the best we've ever seen!! And we've seen them all........... LOL!!!
