What shore excursions are people planning on taking. I read people rent a room at the Atlantis is that really worth it?

To me its never seemed worth it - besides if I do that how will I be able to convince DH to take us there on vaca - LOL.

yes this is real, although from what I read about people who have done they did a day room at a neighboring hotel that had access to Atlantis. My dad and I prob won't be doing any excursions since we will be there for the ship this trip:cool1::thumbsup2

We did this on one our sailings Nov 2008. I think the total price for the room was $240 we paid $50 for r/t taxi and spent about $40 for food. Total around $330.00 this was at Comfort Inn suites which is across from Atlantis. The check-in took about 15 minutes went to room dropped off some stuff we did not need and walked over to Atlantis. Atlantis is huge so even though it took us about 5 minutes to get to property it was more like 12-15 minutes walk to get to water slide area. We had 4 in our group and thought this was worth the $$$ compared to cost through DCL. Recently others have posted that the cost of room has gone up some say over $300 per day without tax this may depend on time of year so you would have to price out. Hope this helps:)

Hello All:

1st time posting here. We are thinking about the Dream for this cruise. We did the Magic back in 08, RCCL Indy in 09, NCL Pearl in 10.

We would probably do 4 days in the park pre-cruise also. We are 5 Myself, DW, DD (5) at cruise time, DS (8) and my sister.

Still have a ton of research to do and need to get on the horn to Disney about Park bookings as they have not opened 2011 on the web yet.

will post back further once decisions are made.

Doug

We have our hotel booked for 2011 at WDW. They let you do a room only reservation but no package deals a year ahead. We are also doing the parks a few days both pre and post cruise as long as the Boston weather does not delay our flights down. Good luck planning.

To all those who replied to my Atlantis question. I checked it out and it is way too expensive for us so I guess we will try a small shore trip, aimless wandering on the island and time on the boat unless anyone has any good ideas. The problem is my mother is coming and she is 70 with a new knee so we want to make sure what ever we pick she will enjoy. Looking at the photos 'Atlantis may not have been a good choice anyway.
Does anyone know how many fancy dinners we need to plan for. I have one dress is that enough. Was trying to get away with just a carryon for the plane is that workable.
Thanks

One dress should be fine for a 4 night cruise. After cruising 10 times I've done, 7 nights, 3 nights, and one 4 night on the 7 night I usually dress up and bring one dress on 3 and 4 nights I've been on never brought a dress, I just have mixed a matched good dressy type pants with good shirts and it's worked out great for me.

Hi Everybody! I haven't been very good for keeping up with this thread lately! Summer is just going by so fast. But the time is coming to get serious about trip planning so I'll pay better attention to it!! I hope to book our flights in the next couple of days. We are now coming in (assuming the flights work out) to Pop Century on Feb 13 and spending the week in the parks. Saturday we'll check out, hopefully get over to KSC, and stay that night at CIS. I'm still hoping for a priceline deal but we are booked already if nothing comes up. We're planning to fly home straight off the ship. I'll be a sobbing mess so I figure I may as well just let Disney transportation take me to the airport so I don't have to think...I can just sob and blow my nose and kick and scream! Hope you all are doing well! Can't wait for the cruise and to get to know you all better!:cool1:

Hope you are doing well too! You are so good at keeping this thread together:worship:

I am so excited about the Dream! I feel like when my WDW trip (that is very soon) is finished with :sad1: I will be able to really focus on the finer details and excitement :cheer2: of the cruise!

thanks, yeah I like to try to keep this thread going in case new people book on the dream and want to join on the disboards in the group or whatever, so it is easy to find.

I know how you feel about the trip to WDW and them being able to focus on cruise after it's done

So I have a question about Palo. And Dmmarla since you have been on so many Disney cruises maybe you can give me a good answer. When you do the online booking is it easy to get a reservation or do they go really fast? I have herd of people getting on at midnight to get theirs. So I am just wondering what your experiences are and how you (as in yourself) get your Palo reservations. Also What is the best day for a 4 day cruise to go to Palo? I was thinking of doing the brunch or whatever on the day at sea. Is that a good choice? Since you have been so many times i just thought you would be the best person to ask.

Well in my experiences I've had a easy time booking Palo for Brunch, some cruises it's harder then others because of number of peopler etc, now when I have booked Palo Brunch it has been on 7 night cruises on the Magic. I think if you do Palo pick the Brunch which will only be no the sea day so only one day. I enjoy it a lot and in all cruises haven't done dinner there, and don't plan to when I go on the Dream, I'll just stick with Brunch if they have it. I might do Palo dinner when I go on the Wonder in April/May 2011 but that's because I know that ship for Dream I'll want to try all dinner in the main places:cool1:

Thanks. So when you book for Palo do you book right when you get on the ship or do you do it online?

I would recommend booking as soon as online booking becomes available to you. If you are not able to secure a reservation you should book as soon as you get on the ship. Brunch will fill up fast since it is usually only available on sea days, dinner at Palo will have more availability because it is every night and there is also Remy as an adults only restaurant, plus with new restaurants to explore first some may choose not to eat there yet.
