February 19, 2011 Magic Western - Presidents of the Caribbean!

The news here in Chicago is predicting up to 18 inches of snow in the next 3 days. I am sure once it's done here, it will be heading to the northeast!

The weather is unreal! Not sure where we are going to put the next storm's mess but we'll find someplace I guess. :confused3 1 more snow day and we reach our maximum of 5 days. Not sure what the plan is after that. So long as we get our cruise in!

The kids and I are mostly packed. DH likes to pack for himself. He even told me he would do laundry on the ship so I could have a true vacation - he's a keeper!!! I just have find out what the washing machine situation is on board...

Tell him he is setting the bar far too high for the rest of us. It just disappoints the other spouses. I did tell my wife we could send stuff the laundry and pay if she wants but I am not sure she would let me wash our clothes by myself.

Hi all fellow cruisers,
This is our familys 2nd Disney cruise...we went over Presidents week last year. Hopefully we'll have better luck on this cruise, as those who were on the cruise last year will never forget how we all patiently (not) waited an extra day for our cruise to begin, as the ship was stuck at Castaway Cay for an extra day. What are the odds this could happen again? Since they gave us a discount due to the fiasco, we booked again for this year. We are taking our chances and very excited to get out of this snow in NYC. Just wondering has anyone gotten a call for an upgraded room? Last year, around 3 weeks prior we got a call from Disney telling us they were upgrading us from category 9 to 6 and we got a verandah---what a treat! Looking forward to a wonderful cruise. If anyone sees us (my twin 9 year olds (boy/girl) have the brightest red hair ever) say hello!

I'll tell him but truth be told he does a better job than me!

I see you are from Halifax - my Father's family is from Truro and Antigonish. Used to go to Nova Scotia and PEI almost every summer when I was a kid! Not sure I could handle it in the winter though.

WELCOME :cool1:

Welcome Missyone!! I was on the ship last President's week too! I also booked on board for this year (see my signature). I have to say we really enjoyed our day one at Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We also found a real camaraderie on the ship as a result of day one. Were you part of the DIS meet board here and the FE? We were, and actually had our dining linked to several of the DIsers. It was a great cruise, and looking forward to this one!

Hi Linda,

Our first day at Epcot was not so good. We waited on line for 3 hours to find out which hotel they were assigning us...the lines were so long at all of the attractions, so we ended up doing nothing. Oh well. Hopefully lightening won't strike twice. I was not part of the boards or the FE...but I agree as to the camraderie aboard the ship.

We are from New York City, and are flying out the day before (just to give us an extra day for a weather emergency---this weather just does not stop. Today is all sleet and ice...

Last year it wasn't until the 3rd day that we had hot weather..I recall it being very chilly/windy out of Florida (for the first 2 days) so I just want to remind everyone to pack a few sweaters etc (and non-sandals). I'm sure we'll have better weather this year--to make up for the lousy weather everyone has been having over the last month. Just 17 more days to go--hooray!

Gwen

Welcome Aboard Missyone/Gwen!

I really hope lightening doesn't strike twice for you. Kudos to you for trying it again the same week. No upgrade calls here - will be very happy in our windowless cabin. I'm just excited to get out a break from winter. Thanks for the packing tips - I didn't think we would need sweaters but it makes sense.

Looking forward to meeting you and everyone else 2 weeks from this Saturday!!!

I am new to posting on the DISboards or any forum for that matter. This will be our first Disney cruise. We have a 4.5 year old girl (Kate) and a 1.5 year old boy (Boston).
I was hoping to connect with someone who has a little girl in the 4-5 year old age range to hang out with my daughter and possible introduce her to the Oceaneers kids club. She is a little nervous to go there alone.

We are buried in 20 inches of snow. Tomorrow we will have -20 degree wind chill. We are all ready to cruise!
I will start packing in a few days. So excited!

Welcome Aboard Waga-mama! My daughter is 7 but would be happy to introduce her to the kids club. Maybe we can meet up at the Sat 3pm meet?

Stay safe Nemofans! My husband's cousin lives in your neck of the woods and it sounds nightmarish!

I am so done with the snow, and now ice, and SOOO ready for the cruise!! I even fell on the ice this AM, but am OK. I love living in NY, but I am not enjoying this winter at all!!!!

Thanks - we will do our best to try to make it to the Sat 3pm meet. My little guy usually naps at that time, but perhaps my husband can stay with him and my daughter and I can come to the meet.
