February 19, 2011 Magic Western - Presidents of the Caribbean!

WELCOME moebear! this will just be our 2nd Cruise ever...The last one was on the Disney Eastern Magic Cruise in October of 2005! My kids are : Son Kyle 11 1/2 and daughter Madison 9 1/2 . we are meeting on
DAY 1/saturday with others on the group to put an name to the face/ kids met!
We are Driving from NH and are leaving at 10pm on the Tuesday Feb 15 ( i have to work this night until 930pm ,lol) we drive straight through only stopping to potty and gas :) My inlaws live near Vero Beach so we will stay with them ( FREE) on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and then they are going to drive us up to the POrT on SATurday morning with our car, then will come back with our car the next Saturday... HMMMM, maybe we will hit the MAGIC KINGDOM 1 day... :cool1:.........It will be nice to hang out with the kids/beach for a few days first! and YES we are taking our kids out of School for 3 days ( feb 16/17/18, then the kids have Vacation/no school the next week)

Hi Everyone,

We will be cruising with you! Our desktop died on Christmas eve as the kids were tracking Santa on Norad. We now have it back!! I have 42 pages of posts to read but looking forward to it. We are:

Bonnie (me)
Gerry (DH)
Morgan (10)
Emma (8)

We will be arriving on Friday and spending the day at the Beach Club and Epcot before getting to the port on Saturday. This is our 4th cruise and our second Western.

Take care all,
Bonnie

Welcome to all the new comers. I see lots of kids the same age as my daughter Elizabeth (8) and son Daniel (5) so it should be great. We actually head down on Feb 10 for 9 days before the Cruise and will spend it all at Disney but for one day at Harry Potter so our trip begins even sooner than the cruise. We rented a house this time as it was a long stretch in a hotel room and is actually cheaper than Disney hotels and gives us all our own rooms, bathrooms and a pool and hot tub in the backyard.

My only fear is that our cruise documents will arrive after we have left. For those who have cruised Disney before, when do the documents usually arrive and does anyone know if we can get it processed early or somehow pick them up down there. I will call but given the number of people here I thought someone may have the answer. The knowledge on these board continues to amaze me.

Bob

There is nothing in the document packet that you need as long as you check in online. I believe there is only one paper you actually have to bring with you and it just makes your check in time shorter.

does anyone know what time we HAVE to get OFF the ship on the day we arrive back to the port on the 26th ?? :confused3 My inlaws are picking us up, so we have NOTHING to rush off the ship for and would LOVE to not RUSH! ......;)

We have stayed as late as 9:30am. Nobody will force you off of the ship but everything is closed and the crew is cleaning the ship. They will try to have you out of your stateroom by 8:30am. If you have early dining during the cruise your breakfast on debarkation will be at 7 to 7:30am, late diners are 8 to 8:30am. You can also just get breakfast at topsiders is case you do not want to get up for the early breakfast. The whole vibe of the ship changes that last morning to get you off and get the ship ready for the next cruise.

That is FINE- his parent live 45 mins away so we just dont want them to have to get up too early to come pick us up....

Thanks for the warm welcomes. We are looking forward to our second western. Bummed that we missed the FE cut off. We booked this cruise fairly late. The girls are excited for it, so we may pass out goodies for the kiddos anyhow.
Hope everyone is having a great day!
Bonnie

Now to fix my banner!:)

I never signed up for the FE - and while I'm a bit disappointed - I'm a lot relieved since it's one less thing to do.

MOEBEAR - also from Westfield... hi neighbor... I know that there is at least one other WF family coming ... considering it's a school break - there are probably more.

We surprised Jacob Christmas morning with the cruise - I had him go on a scavenger hunt and the first clues were really vague like the over-the-door shoe holder for toiletries... and an outlet strip.... then they got a bit more sun-vacation-like. He was very happy to find out about the cruise.

I.CAN.NOT.WAIT. I need the time off from work and the time away.

OK, I am so excited I can hardly stand it!! Yesterday I had lunch with the Aunties (sister & SIL) who are coming with us to talk specifics & plans. Then today I started putting stuff into a tote to pack plus bought a carry on bag for our flight. I also bought the stuff for our FEs yesterday. WOW! DCL here we come!

Juliana/ZhuZhu's grandpa-I dont know how to PM people-I am a newbie. Here is our email: nsemagieathotmail.com-see I cant even post that because I havent posted 10 or more times!!!

I have a packing list going & have been looking at cabanas which I thought were far too pricey but then with all that is included for 6 of us-maybe not!

Any tips anyone has left???

Cathy

MOEBEAR:

ICE STORMS IN NEW YORK.....yet another reminder to watch the weather carefully as Feb 19 approaches and PLAN AHEAD in case of airport shut-downs

ALSO: ice storms are nature's way of making a cruise seem EVEN MORE exciting and desirable:lmao:

We'll be getting ready to go to the airport to CRUISE!!!!!- weather permitting of course!!! WCW has it right-- we've had our share of winter weather so far- makes me nervous about getting out next month!--- just about bought everything we need now for cruise and might start packing-- and I was concerned it would not be warm enough in Feb. But- I don't care if I am in a sweatshirt on the beach!!!! Anything will be warmer than here!!!!!!

We have snow & ice here in Chicago too & I've tired of it. My 5 yr old keeps asking if we can go on the cruise now.

We are buried in a ton of snow and ice here too! And there's more coming this Friday. I say bring it all on for the rest of January BUT it has to stop in February so we can escape! :cool1:

MORE SNOW COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ENUFF ALREADY

does anyone know why there is a teller number included in the address to DCL....what is a teller #?

I cannot imagine what you guys are going through with all of the snow!! It is really rare for us to get even the 9 inches that we had last week. Usually, we might have a couple of inches once or twice a year, and even that is mainly ice instead of snow. Keeping my fingers crossed for you all that when it comes cruise time, the skies and roads will be clear! Just keep thinking of the beautiful, clear, blue water and sandy beaches!

Finished my FE on Tuesday, and it turned out better than I thought it would. I used the no-sew FE directions from the board, so it wasn't too hard. The kids liked it, which is what is important.

I have been looking over the packing list, and it is extensive!!! I am trying to figure out what we really need, and what we can get by without. It seems like there is so much more needed for this than there is for a trip to the parks, but it may just be that this is a first time thing for us. Any tips on packing a little lighter would be great...

We decided that we are going to surprise the kids with a day at MK the day we disembark. We are just going to let them think that we are heading home, and then turn into WDW! Should be fun and may prolong the our-vacation-is-over-blues! We have never been this time of year...we usually go in October/November.

wcw- no idea why that is on their address...anyone else?

HI
I would love those directions for the FE's. Can you tell me where you found them on the board?
We just got our GTY room assignment. A little disappointed after reading some reviews that there is alot of noise, but that is what I get for booking 3 weeks ago. Anyway we don't plan on spending that much time in our room.
:yay:
