February 19, 2011 Magic Western - Presidents of the Caribbean!

Just wondering if anyone has made/bought their actual Fish extender yet? I have seen on the cruise threads some pictures of the actual FE you hang on your fish that your goodies go into. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas/suggestions for making/buying these? I'm not the crafty type, so I will probably buy something online for our cabin.:confused3

I have one from my last cruise. I bought it on Ebay. Just search Fish Extenders and you'll see a bunch to choose from. I have one with 2 pockets, but they had 3 and 4 pocket ones as well.

so excited! Just got off the phone with DVC member services and I was able to switch our cruise pre-nights from SSR to BLT lake view!:cool1::cool1: This will be our first time at BLT and I am so excited! 3 nights at BLT before our cruise...awesome!

FE: anyone have some ideas as to dimensions for the FE? Little ZuZu and I plan on making ours this weekend and would like to be at least close in appearance to others.

Is everyone traveling on Friday the 18th? JetBlue rates are, as expected, HIGH!!! I guess we'll wait til SWA announces their rates......:confused3:surfweb:

Hi Bill-

I was scanning ebay this morning and I believe some of the FE's for sale on there had the dimensions listed. It should give you a rough estimate on how big you should make yours.

I was a little shocked at Jetblue's prices too...:scared1: but I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get it over with!:lmao: We are flying out the Wednesday before the cruise and the tickets are still almost $400 pp!

We are flying out the 18th thru SWA. I am guessing their rates will be higher than we normally get b/c of it being a holiday weekend. I am just hoping it's not ridiculously higher.

Jet Blue is ridiculous, they wanted $2,700 for the 4 of us! Last fall when we booked the cruise we considered going Presiident's week 2010 and the most expensive fares were less than $2,000.

I was on the President's Week cruise this year, and the non-stop airfare from JFK to MCO was about $600. For the upcoming year, it's like $1400 pp. I actually just did my airfare this week, and just had to get a little creative. We are on Delta, LGA to Tampa, with one stop. A LOT cheaper! We fly out on the Friday night, and are coming home on the Sunday after the cruise. We are going to spend the day we get off the ship at Kennedy Space Center (never did that), and then drive to Tampa, which is about 2 hours from Port Canaveral. Just have to find a hotel in Tampa close to the airport for the night before and after the cruise.

cannot believe how much JetBlue is..for me, I would have to fly out of Syracuse, and it is giving me a quote of $4000 for 4 people....there is no way I can do that.

I am hoping southwest will be more competitive when they release fares..some people have said they booked already with Southwest...HOW?? I would most likely use Southwest and fly from Albany NY

anyone who has advice on airfare , please let me know

Thank You

if you checked JetBlue there were some good rates for Wed (I think) but what teacher can skip out so early?!?!?!

Before we booked this cruise I looked at rates from 2010 Pres Week and knew we were going to get bent over:lmao:

However, maybe the fabled pixie dust will drift over the SWA site and there'll be some, at least, decent rates:confused3

I'm hoping for some pixie dust from Southwest too. I was very disappointed in Jet Blue's fares. Maybe they will lower them when Southwest releases their fares in Aug. Tampa is an interesting option - thanks Linda.

I did a rough estimate of how much it would be to drive down and I'm not sure the savings is worth the extra time. Plus the thought of all of us in the car together for 20 hours - yikes! :scared1:

in Feb driving is ALWAYS an option for 2 reasons

1- (if you have the time) save substantial $$$$$$$$$$$

2-if there is a storm (school closed on Fri) and airport problems you can jump in the car early (or the rented van) and drive in shifts to ensure arrival for the boarding in PC.......Us North Easterners know about Feb snow storms:):rotfl:;)

still....I'm hoping for SWA to be kind

Well I gave up on Jet Blue because their fares are so high for February and I was able to book our flights on American out of JFK for $294 pp with taxes included! I think that is pretty good considering the return flight we were looking at on Jet Blue was $250 by itself!
We are flying down on Wednesday afternoon (I'll take the kids out of school early that day), and staying at BLT for 3 nights before we go on the cruise...so excited!!:cool1::cool1:

IF we were to stay at the hyatt mco:confused3

and take the shuttle to DCL

does the shuttle stop so we can p/u water...wine....etc?

THANX!

We are staying at the Hyatt MCO the night before. We are considering taking the Disney shuttle (which does not stop at a store) vs a rental car vs car service that does stop.

Know that the second day of the cruise, we will be in Key West where you can purchase anything you forgot or anything you would like to buy- wine, water etc. You would have the inconvenience of carrying it.

I am still torn. ??

I was just looking at the first posts on this thread and when we first became a group there were over 500 days until the cruise...now we are almost UNDER 200 days:banana::banana::banana:

Time is flying by! February will be here before we know it!:cool1:

I am also hoping SW airlines will be kind. I have the 17th marked on the calendar....just waiting. I hate the thought of driving 24hrs to get to the port for vacation....but I know a family who had to do just that this year to get to their Feb cruise. I am hoping for some pixie dust on the weather map for Feb.

Our tentative plan is to fly down Fri evening, stay at the Hyatt MCO, check in for the cruise at the desk before taking DCL transportation to the port.

The way I read it, it sounds like if you do the DCL check in at the hotel in the morning you don't have to check in at the port. Am I right in this? It sounds like an easy way to beat some lines. :goodvibes

Last time, that was not an option given to us. We were able to check in for the DCL bus, but that was it. Maybe things have changed.

Hey MD----

did you book yet? what kind of rates did you get, if I can be so personal....

also, if you stay at Hyatt MCO and DON'T use DCL transportation, can you still check-in before check-in? that is, do you still avoid some lines?:confused3
