February 14, 2013: 3 night Bahama- Valentines Day on the Dream

Getting so excited for our trip!! just curious what ages are some of your kiddos? (obviously I am not doing fe this trip) i will have my 16 year old dd and nearly 11 year old dd.

My 8yo dd is extremely shy as well and stuck with me the entire time Nov 29th cruise. I don't think she plans on doing much alone this time. My 10yo dd isn't as shy, but this is her first time on a cruise. So, it will be interesting to see what she ends up wanting to do. With her sister there, my 8yo might be more comfortable, but she still won't talk to people. Just those two kids this cruise.

Thank you for the motion sickness help. It seems to be mainly in the car, however, he has never been on a cruise. So I want to test him.

My mom was on the Queen Anne headed to England when she was 11/12? Her sister was extremely sick and my mom is still bitter that they both were given shots.:rotfl2: I'm not sure that they do that now, 50 years later, but I think my son would opt for the patch or ginger pills. :thumbsup2 I packed Dramamine in case my daughter and I were sick on the first cruise. We never needed it and the waters were a little rough. We both had cruise head when we got off for a few days after.

Things that help are getting out and walking around the open decks. We went for a bunch laps (did about two miles) and it really help clear her head. She didn't get the sick to her stomach feeling (she is very vulnerable to it) but more of an dizzy/off feeling from the constant up and down. People forget the farther you are out from centerline the more up and down it is vs side to side. Getting off the ship everyday (since we only be at sea for three days) will also help "reset" them.

Ginger ale (if you have a good server they will slip you some if you ask) and crackers are always a good help. Ours got Amy some when she started having problems even though it is not part of the dining room offers. He also helped us move our table when our original table was right over machinery and caused a vibration in the deck that really went to her stomach.

Minimizing the liquids in your stomach helps hence the crackers. the more liquids that slosh the more likely they will be sick. If they show dehydration from being sick definitely see the ships doctor. I would hope no one ever gets this bad but it happens. I had an inner ear infection once on a Med cruise and it was the worse 3 days of my life. No matter how good your sea legs are YOU WILL be sick.

Just put Amy and my lanyards. One for DCL, WDW and Amy. She really doesn't get into pins -

Got my budget setup for more pins. Been saving my Disney points since the last trip.

Amy has started sorting out our clothes for the trip. We will be running Sunday! I have my Reserve duty this weekend. I will be running home, jumping from one car to another and straight to the airport. Won't have time to even change out of my uniform.

Just called DCL. The movies playing during our cruise are:
  • The Avengers
  • Brave
  • The Odd Life of Timothy Green
  • Finding Nemo
  • Frankenweenie
  • Wreck-It Ralph
  • Lincoln

I called and they told me Oz would be playing as well.

I was originally told Oz as well but then she corrected herself and said that it wasn't out until March and we would miss it?:confused3

We were on the Dream last year but never went to any movies. Hoping this time to catch one but days go so quickly I hope to find time! Seems like we go to bed rather early partially due to the motion sickness medication making us all sleepy and the other due to being up early for the next days activities. So the midnight showings never worked! Lol!:rotfl2:

Here is Florida on the second day. Did Epcot and Fantasmic yesterday. Have Magic kingdom on the docket for today. Weather couldn't be more perfect.

Seeing you all Thursday!

I just read back through the threads and saw where some of you were unsure of whether we were planning on participating. I am so sorry and wholeheartedly apologize; I looked all back through my email and didn't see any notifications on replies. :confused3 We do still want to participate but I realize it might be too late for it to be official. Bummer!

At any rate, we've made our fish extender and have our gifts all set. Even if we're not on the list, we'll still bring them and pass them out anyway.

Can't wait to meet you all. Lucas, my five year old, got his call from Mickey tonight and is super excited! It's going to be so much fun!

We're planning to meet in Evolution at 3:00 on embarkation day. If you're not already on the emailed list, bring your info. We will be sharing any changes to the list at the meet.

See everyone tomorrow!

Thank you all for the great FE gifts. We had a wonderful first ever cruise and booked our next one while underway yesterday!

Hope all had a good time. Next 'scheduled' cruise, Alaska 6/16/2014 but Christmas 4 day is looking mighty tempting.

Loved all the FE gifts, Thanks! Hope everyone enjoyed their cruise as much as we did! Hopefully we will "See you Real Soon"!

Got back late last night.

Thanks for FEs. Glad to meet some of you while out to sea. Had a fun time for the most part. Took a while to dry off from Castaway. Was a bit of a drowned rat :rotfl: Amy didn't need her meds at all though there were a couple uneasy times from the rough weather. Probably get her to go on another cruise. Will probably look into a Western Caribbean for the next one.

Will have to say while shopping was great the tour was a disappointment. More of an infomerchal than a tour. The zoo was a bit sad. They do what they can for the most part with what little budget they can.

I have a few (ok more than a few) hundred photos to finish sorting through. Once I get them done I plan to put a bunch of them on a Photo Bucket folder. I'll post the link when ready.

Thank you all for the wonderful fish extender gifts! I loved receiving them and was in aww at the creativity of the group! I made the cork candle holders, but obviously couldn't put a candle in them due to cruise line regulations of no flammable objects. If you aren't into candles you could use it as a pencil holder and someone was joking it could be used a shot glass.

Thanks Again! Hope to cruise again with you real soon =)
