February 14, 2008 Roll Call… 2/14/2008 Valentines 3-Night Wonder

I was messing around on the DCL site today and it looks like cat 4-7 rooms are now sold out for our cruise. Cat 8 and 9 are GTY only bookings. And I thought all along it would only be our small DIS group sailing on the ship ;)

Got our cabin assignment, it's 7634, Cat. 5. It's aft with a metal balcony. It's all good. Just can't wait to go.

I got my cabin assignment too!! 2554

No clue where it is so i'm on my way to do research!!

Edited to Add:
Well I"m on the 2nd floor (duah!) right by the midship elevators!! Which means we won't have as much walking to do to the elevators.....I'm a bit worried about noise but I think I'll be purchasing a white-noise machine to take care of that! We always sleep with a fan on so I think the machine will simulate that!

Got our room assignment too. Category 9 (no upgrade) on deck 2 near the front elevators. It's going to sneak up on us and be here in no time!!!

I think we're down the hall from you!

I think I went a little crazy on the DCL website today. I booked a massage for myself, the Atlantis Discovery on Nassau, and bike rentals on Castaway Cay. This is our second 3 night Wonder cruise. The first time we didn't book anything. We just played it by ear and explored on our own. I guess we are "branching out" this time!

Less than a month to go cruisers!! :cheer2:

You sure did go all out this time around!!

We have always debated about doing the water park side of Atlantis. Pretty pricy via DCL but we have considered getting a room at the sister hotel, I think it’s the Comfort Inn which gives rights to use the water park at Atlantis for less cost. They are also running a special room rate for the Atlantis hotel this winter (I think) which would include the water park passes too.
When we went two cruises ago to Atlantis, we looked around the place and they had a no-cost part of the aquarium area that you could walk thru. It wasn’t the full aquarium but enough to feel like we enjoyed it.
Have fun on your Atlantis Excursion!!:cool1:

We would love to do the Atlantis Water parks sometime. My kids would have such a blast. This time, we are just doing the tour that takes you to the aquarium. Hopefully it will still be fun.

So anyone have an estimated arrival date for their cruise documents? I want to make sure I intercept them before my husband!

So anyone have an estimated arrival date for their cruise documents? I want to make sure I intercept them before my husband!

If i recall correctly, I think the documents normally print 10-14 days before sailing and then go out maybe 3 day UPS for the most part. If you used a travel agent the documents may go to them first and they forward the docs to you. Not all travel agents work this way with DCL but many do. If you booked direct with DCL, then you may be able to get an estimated mailing date if you call them and explain you are planning a surprise...worth a shot at least!

I just looked at my ticker. 25 Days!!!!

Are most of you combining this trip with a trip to WDW or the beach? We are not able to leave until after school on the 13th. Our flight arrives at around 10 P.M. We are then getting a car and driving to the port. We are staying at the comfort suites. When we return on Sunday, we fly out at about 5:00. So for us, we are only able to stay for the cruise this time. I'm sure the time will fly by while on the cruise, but we plan on making the most of it. :thumbsup2

Since this is a quick getaway for us without the kids (and kind of a honeymoon we never had)- we are flying in on the 13th, land around 1:30pm and head via ME over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas for a stay one night. We are giving the new DVC part a try and staying on the concierge level!
We have a suburban scheduled to pick us up and take us to port the following morning around 9:45am. After we arrive back to Port on the 17th, we are using the DCL bus to get to MCO and fly back to Columbus around 2pm.
Normally when we sail DCL, we take the 4-night sailing and combine it with around 3 or 4 nights in WDW after. Next year, we have a 7-night Eastern sailing scheduled (hate to think about having to pay that off still!!) and likely wont include any WDW with the trip since we will be at WDW over Thanksgiving and don’t want to take the kids out of any more then a week of school with the 7-night sailing.

I have been keeping my fingers crossed for a SWA Ding Fare to show up for our return flight home... but no luck yet. :confused3 I guess since it is the holiday weekend I should just be happy with the rate we already have for the flight and not expect it to go any lower. Did anyone else find their fare to be higher then they normally pay for travels to Orlando? I think we are at about $214 per ticket out of Columbus for this trip.

Yes, my return flight on southwest is much more than I usually pay. I got a great fare for our outbound, but overall I think it is around $250 per person rt from KC. We had one free ticket, so that helped some. The return flight was almost 3 times what I am used to paying. It would have been even more to leave on Monday instead of Sunday.

staceyj2- I didnt even notice until now that you live in Kansas. My DW was born in Kansas and lived there for several years before moving to Texas. Her dad and grandma still live in Kansas.

A ding fare just came through that saved me $30 per ticket without changing flights. I hope something came through for you too.

Do your inlaws live in the Johnson County area? That is where we are.

I've been scouring the Internet today for good town service deals. I figured that if I get a town car I can tell my DH that we are going to spend a few days by the ocean before my mom arrives for our stay at the Boardwalk!

This way I can keep it from him for a whole hour extra!

I have found one service that charges $74 for a one-way. This is a cheaper than a rental car!

The question is can I cancel my Disney transportation for a refund?
