February 14-18, 2010 4 Night Wonder Cruise

In luv - Our FE's are locker organizers that I added a hanging ribbon to. I would have gone the tote bag route had I not found those at a thrift store a few weeks ago b/c I do NOT sew! :lmao:

In Nassau, we are doing a sea lion interaction at Atlantis, not the one through the cruiseline that I believe is at Blue Lagoon (and much pricier). The one at Atlantis allows for our 5 year old to join in and seems easier to get to. We shall see.

Cruisenow: We've never used in-room sitters at WDW, sorry. Good luck! It sounds nice.

Sea Lion attraction sounds interesting, I'll have to check it out! My DD (6) wants to be a dolphin trainer when she grows up (yeah, I want to be a dolphin trainer too, but I'm ALREADY grown up, so I don't think I'll be quitting my day job!), so I was thinking (briefly) about the dolphin thing...but when it comes down to it, I think she'd be too scared. Therefore, the cost of MAYBE getting to swim with the dolphins isn't probably a good investment. I'll just be playing it by ear.

LauraDar: I have switched rooms with my big bro...I'm now in 2624. I am WAY too excited now. How does anyone get work done in the last few weeks before a trip??????? I'd soo much rather plan this than get work done! hahaha. Hope ya'll have a higher level of concentration than me right now! I still have 3 hours of work to get back to tonight! Okay, so maybe I'll just get up REALLY early tomorrow instead??? :surfweb:

Can't wait to meet everyone on Sunday!

hey PUPPIES, I know what you mean about not being able to concentrate at work! I keep finding myself hitting the DIs boards during the work day (shhhh) and adding to my never ending list! I am so afraid of the let down when we come back, I have been looking forward to this for soooo long.

I know what you mean, the let down after the cruise. We plan, We plan, then its over in 4 days. I guess thats why so many people book while on the cruise.
I dont think we will be going to Disneyworld after the cruise , I had thought about it. I think I will just plan a week trip this summer, even though its so hot but Disney has an great deal for the Military for tickets, We can get a 4 day pass for only $99.00 ,I can not pass that up. They did close to the same deal this past year and we did a 8 day trip last summer. Its hard to say no to disney when the prices are so good. So if you know anyone that is in the military or that is retired military let them know about the deal.

My MIL is a bit up in the air about going because her mother has had some health issues. She is doing fine, but will have to be non-weight bearing for a month. There are other family to help her out plus home health while we are gone, but you know daughters (since I am one I know). I really hope she will still come. If not, we have plenty of childcare options to allow us to do some adult stuff. She just really needed a vacation and we wanted to give it to her. My question to any of you out there. Have you ever used in room childcare at a resort (we are staying at AKL)? We have reservations at Victoria and Albert when we go to WDW. It is the only adult thing we planned while there. It is our absolute favorite and would hate to miss it.

I hope your MIL decides to come, Very nice of you guys to give her a vacation. I have heard only good things about the childcare service , have you tried looking at the Mom's Panel on the WDW website. That questions has been asked alot and they gave some really good answers. I love it The Mom's Panel!!!

If you go to the Atlantis website, I think their stuff is under "Things to Do," then Dolphin Cay. They have a shallow water dolpin interaction, as well as a sea lion interaction. They also have deep water dolphin swims for anyone more aquatically inclined. My DD5 is super excited! She didn't care if it was dolpins or seal lions, she's a total animal lover. Personally, I think the seal lions may have a little more "personality." Crossing my fingers for HOT weather while we're in the water......

Shipping my box of FE stuff to the hotel tomorrow..... I know exactly what you all mean about concentrating at work. Yeah right! Piles are growing, and here I am DIS'ing. :)

As for the withdrawals afterward, I just look ahead to my next Disney adventure and start scheming. We're planning for WDW in the Fall, so I'll be able to move onto that (like Nita already has for the summer!).

Hi,

We (me, DH and DD - 11 years old) will be joining you on this cruise. We're so excited!!!! This will be our 2nd Disney cruise. We've been on 8 cruises (various lines) and Disney is the BEST! :yay:

We are on Deck 2, Cabin #2024. Anybody close to use?

We're staying at the Saratoga Springs Resort on the 13th, 18th and 19th. We're planning to go eat at O'Hana's on one of those nights. It's our favorite WDW restaurant. My DD thinks it's worth the 7-hour drive just to eat there. We'll go to the parks on the 18th and/or the 19th.

I hate we missed the deadline to sign-up for the FE Exchange. It sounds like alot of fun. We'll have to do it next time.

For those that have DHs that like racing, please let me know if you find a place on the ship that will show the Daytona 500. My DH is a racing fan (also drives a dirt track racecar) and he would love to watch it.

Any others from the Atlanta, GA area? We live in Newnan, GA.

Have a great day!

Lisa

Hey, Welcome Lisa

I live in Sharpsburg, What school does your DD go to? My DS(10) goes to TCE. My husband was very upset when he found out that we booked for the same day as the Daytona 500. But he has come to terms with it now, I hope.lol
I have only been on one cruise but the family has not. So it will be fun to see if they like it or not. I know I loved my cruise that I took with some friends.

Just popping in to say welcome aboard to Lisa!

Heading to NY tomorrow for my conference, back on Friday and then I can really get in the "crazy-almost here-what do I pack-what am I forgetting-FE packing-how many shoes-is it time to go yet-what do you mean I still have to work" planning mode. At least I decided to take an extra day next Friday off from work so I can ease into my vacation.

Cheers!

Jennifer

My DD goes to BE. It's a new elementary school.

Maybe they'll show the Daytona 500 somewhere on the ship.

When are y'all leaving to go down? We're planning to leave on Saturday - very early. My DH might try to go to a dirt track race somewhere in the area on Saturday night.

I'm sure your family will love the cruise.

Lisa

Hey Lisa, we live in Dalton now but are originally from Newnan! Hubby is a Newnan High School grad (Class of 85). I graduated from Heritage (Class of 86). We moved to Dalton in 1993.

There are A BUNCH of us on Deck 2, check out my post on page 1. Even if you miss out on the FE please join us for our meet on Sunday at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge.

My hubby also is a big Nascar fan, he will find some way to either watch or listen to the race!

Looking forward to meeting you on the boat in 11 DAYS!

Laura

Jlacobb3: I sent you a PM.

We are leaving early too on the 13th. We are staying at the Country Inn and Suites at the port. We want just to enjoy the area, maybe Jetty park or the Manatee reserve, they say that is a nice place to visist and its free. How do you guys go, thru Griffin to I 75 or do you take 85 all the way around.

Hi--

We never used the in-room childcare, however, we have used one of the children "clubs." We sent our kids to the Mouseketeer Club at Grand Floridian when we had dinner at Citricos (we were staying at the Beach Club and chose to book the childcare at the Grand just so that they were closer to us, "just in case"). Our kids are similar in age to yours - they had a good time. They had their choice of dinner and the counselors played games and crafts with them. There was only 1 other child and a total of 3 counselors -- so the 1 on 1 attention was nice. Just an FYI, the room was a little smaller than I had expected - but was perfectly fine for the number of people that were in there. Not sure if you are DVC members- I am pretty sure you will get a discount (we got a discount, I just can't remember if it was AP or DVC).

Although we haven't used the in room service, I do know that Disney has been using Kid's Nite Out for several years.

We love V&A as well!! Enjoy your meal there. FYI, we are staying at AKL before the cruise -- can't wait, we are surprising the kids :)

So sorry to hear about your MIL - hope she gets well soon!!!

All the best...Jeannine

We'll be there, too. We just made the final payment on our cruise yesterday.

This will be our first cruise ever. (I was in the Navy years ago, so I'd never really felt the need to go to sea while on vacation.) :)

Anyway, after much debate, we decided that we couldn't pass up a few days at WDW along with the cruise. Our DS (13 years old) is out of school for the week, so it seemed pointless to fly home on Thursday right after the cruise. We also have a short stay prior to the cruise to avoid flying in on the day of the cruise departure.

I'm really looking forward to this vacation!
Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I also seem to have missed out on the FE, but frankly, I didn't need anything else to worry about. I did all of the planning and travel arrangements for this whole trip, including relatively short WDW resort stays before and after the cruise, and keeping everything straight is crazy. I've got folders of information, reservations, etc. My wife thinks I'm nuts.

I just finished the online travel documents.

Anyway, it will be me, my DW, and my DS13 on the cruise. (We are on Deck 6, #6098, BTW.) We can't wait.

ETA: I just found the info regarding the meet-up on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Promenade Lounge. We'd love to meet everybody at the MEET.

Good morning! I can't believe how quickly time flies and in just one week we'll be on our way to warmer temps. Thank the lord! It is cold, cold, cold in MI. Just have to finish getting my FE's together. Has anyone taken a look at the homemade FE's thread on the cruise line forum? Oh my... there are some awesome ideas there. If only I had more time (and talent) to pull that off  Today I am planning on doing some shopping and printing magnets for our door. Apparently we are all alone on deck 5 but I look forward to meeting everyone on Sunday!

I saw the thread on homemade FE as well -- wish I had passed it by. Those people are amazing! After seeing the stuff people have made, I wished I had not participated in our FE. :worried: My bag of goodies looks like a bunch of garbage compared to the stuff people have homemade. Yikes! I apologize to all in advance.......

I know what you guys are talking about, My FE's are bad compared the homemade stuff. I just bought stuff that I thought I would like.

I can not believe we only have 11 days till the cruise. I am taking my son to the doctor today for a cough and ear infection. Have to get him well before next week. Hoping the rest of us don't get it. I would normally not take him in for just a cough, but I am not taking any chances. I hear of all the kids at school being sent home for some bug or another. Its like " Noooooo". No extra kids over this weekend for sleepovers.lol

Does anyone else keep adding to their list to pack? Mine is getting longer and longer.

I thought the same thing about my FEs but then I decided I just needed to RELAX! I'm sure everybody will be very appreciative of whatever goodies they get. Seriously... my kids usually end up loving all of the little knick knacks... like all of the stuff in goody bags that to me looks like plastic parts but to them is some kind of treasure :) Go Figure!

Nita- I am paranoid that someone is going to get sick! I am really not freaked out by the whole germ thing but before a vacation, the more hand sanitizer the better. I've been known to quarantine the kids right before we leave. :)
