February 12, 2011 - 7 night Eastern

Merry Christmas everyone!

Does anyone know when we get room assignments ? Our room is GTY? So I guess we are guaranteed at least a certain level. Not sure how it works.

Starting to shop for a bathing suit and get organized for packing!! Yay!!

Not for sure but I think you get your room number assigned when you get your cruise document's which should arrive around the one month mark. Maybe you'll get lucky and get pixie dusted with an upgrade crossing my finger's for you pixiedust:

My brother and his wife surprised their kids with the trip for Christmas and we surprised our kids by telling them they are all coming with us!
What a great gift to get as a kid!! :santa:

Haven't seen any activity around here about this trip...any families interested in meeting up on board? We have a 13 yr old girl, 10 yr old boy, 3 yr old boy, and 1 yr old boy.

Counting the days...

OK, a few questions for you all.

What are the best sites to order bathing suits from ??

I am looking at Land's End and Tommy Bahama, does anyone have any other good recommendations?

Has anyone rented a car on St. Maarten or St. Thomas before?

What are you most looking forward to on the cruise?
For me it is definitely NO COOKING, NO DISHES.

I am so happy the holidays are over! I love Christmas but now I can focus on this trip. I can't believe how fast it is coming up!!!:banana:

I am most looking forward to relaxing and watching my kids play on the beaches. pirate:

Sorry to hear that you will no longer be joining us, hope everything is okay....have fun when you are able to go on your cruise.

How is everyone? Recovered from the holidays and New Year? I'm trying to get caught up on all of my regular stuff that I fell so behind on. 3 out of my 5 got sick this past week...2 babies with RSV and me with sinus stuff. Hopefully we are all on the mend. I want to get it all out now and pray that everyone is well for the trip!!!

I decided to make a few last minute changes to our trip. We cancelled our DCL transfer to the port and decided to rent a car. That way we can get their earlier and even make a stop at the store for a few last minute things. I also decided to get a dayroom at the Hyatt at MCO the day we return. Our flight isn't until 6 something that evening and the thought of entertaining my boys all day at the airport terrifies me. AND the last change was we decided to stay at a hotel close to our airport the night before we leave. The flight is scheduled for 6:20 am!!! We were going to have to leave our house at 4 am to get there on time. So we are going to stay at a hotel near DFW and then take their shuttle to the airport. I figure I will get more sleep that way and it will force me to be all packed and ready to go instead of staying up all night packing.

So excited it is almost here!!!!

Heather....

Christmas & New Year were great in the Gibson household.

great choice to rent a car....we are flying into MCO on Friday and are renting a car to "cruise the town" and like you are going to the store before we get to the ship EARLY. We are staying in Orlando for the night and dropping our car off near the port on Sat.... got a great rate on the car also.

Trying to get myself geared up for the cruise.... getting things organized. I can now start planning stuff for the ship.

Talk to you REALLY REALLY SOON

Robin:yay:

Happy New Year everyone!! We also really enjoyed the holidays this year, but it's kind of nice to be getting back into a routine and start the final stages of cruise planning. We also made some changes - decided to cancel our Port Orleans French Quarter pre-cruise reservations and stay 2 nights at the MCO Hyatt instead, since we arrive so late on Thursday night, and it didn't make sense to switch hotels again on Friday just for one night. Got a decent rate using our Costco card. We're renting a car as well - if the kids cooperate, I'm hoping to fit in some outlet shopping and a trip to DTD on the Friday. Still need to book a hotel for one night post-cruise though - probably off site if anyone has any suggestions. And I've managed to finish making the FE gifts for the kids and am starting on the adults - hope you;ll like them :)

Heather - glad to hear everyone is feeling better. The sickies hit our house too, two weeks before Christmas we all had the stomach flu and then Laura had a high fever from the 22nd to the 24th... not fun. We're all better now though, at least until school and daycare exposes them to a fresh round of germs!

My travel agent got a quote for me this morning for a day rate at hyatt and this morning it was $89. Then when she called to book it after confirming with me the price had jumped to $119!!!! $30 within 30 minutes!!! That doesn't seem right but doesn't look like I have any other options. Still worth it to me but man am I bummed! That could have been a couple more souvineers. :(

Heather,

Just a suggestion but for the amount of money you are spending for a day room you could take the kids to Wonderworks for the day. It's a lot of fun and there's thing's even Liam can enjoy doing. On the website they have $2.00 off person up to 6 people

That looks like a lot of fun!!! I don't think we would save any money though. We would have to rent a car big enough to hold 3 carseats and then admission/food etc. We are using DCL transportation back to the airport and only have to pay for me and John. Carter's transportation is being taken care of by my SIL, which I believe was included in his entire cruise fare. I'm thinking we are going to be pretty tired anyways from being gone for almost 2 weeks and just want to get home.

I'm curious if anyone has considered rebooking while onboard. We are looking into it. At least maybe a dummy date to get the 10% off and OBC and half deposit. Right now they have cruises dating out to August 2012.

I went shopping today with my two year old. That was fun! I got my dress for formal night and a dress for semi-formal night. I have to get both dresses altered but at least I got the hard part out of the way. I think I'm going to get the boys tuxes. I think it would be so cute, even if they only wear it for a couple of hours.:)
