I think I read somewhere that the Superbowl is shown on the Dumbotron?? I don't like football (we are a hockey family) but even that sounds appealing to me!!

Question..
Will I be able to make a 12 noon flight from MCO on the 10th?? :confused3

Hello everyone!

Just thought I would check in. We have been visiting family in MA since thurs. and what a mess! The Magic could probably cruise right through here with all the flooding. Alot of the highways and roads are closed, its been raining for days and its just gloomy which makes this vacation STINK!

Makes me need this cruise more than ever!

Hope everyone is well!

Been a while since I've posted, been busy on the 9/30 & 10/07 threads. Did I tell you guys my DD is PREGNANT  :Pinkbounc

WE had a 12:20 flight out on 4/22 and got to MCO about 9:30 DEon't know if I'd try much before 12pm. If the baby is born in Jan. we will be with you, if not I'm afraid we won't. We should know in the next 3 or 4 months :grouphug:

Joksten- is this your daughter's first?? Congrats again! How many grandchildren do you have??

Flights- I have a choice if I book now with Delta of a 12:20 pm flight on the 10th or a 6pm flight....I have to ponder! Anyone else out there book flights this early??

:Pinkbounc 12:20 is the best time, that was our flight out after the 4/15 cruise. We got to MCO about 9:15 Gave us some time to scout out the Disney store, very disappointing now that it's so small, the line was very long going through security, down 15 feet into the hallway so I was getting nervous, we got in line at 10:30, every 10 minutes a security guard would come out and ask if anyone had an early flight, they took them right thru security, even though the line was so long we were thru in less than a Half hour, I'd probably chance a 11:30 am flight but not sooner I've heard stories of having problems with emigrations. We had Breaksfast in Lumiere's and were in the lobby by 7:30 and the doors opened, can't imagine getting to the airport later than 9:30. Maybe some people just aren't organized or feel they have to have a huge breakfast to get there monies worth

I have two grandsons 16 & 12 by our DS. This will be DD 1st and hopefully not last, we're desperate for a granddaughter. Because of her January accident my DW the nurse thinks they'll give her a ceserian, so we'll know in the next three months exactly when the baby will be born. I don't think it will interfere with our cruises, not that it would be a problem, we can always cruise. We are so hyped 4 Alaska

:guilty: :guilty: Okay guys...I have been reading...web surfing...note taking...buying (OY...have I been buying) to keep my excitment up for the cruise....I am reading the same threads and trip reports for the 100th time...I am starting to lose steam...
How can I keep the excitment going until Feb???

Thank God my DIL takes lots of pictures and we have a pile of Albums, so every week I go thru the Albums and the warm fuzzy feelings come back. We have a metal front door and I got our cabin poster and put it up there.

Good Morning!

joksten2000, I like your idea about keeping the magic going with albums and door decor! I just sat and looked at one of my scrapbooks on Sunday...got me all excited!

I am excited to say that I just added a cruiser to my group last night! My dear Granny (76) was all signed up for our upcoming cruise...but didn't have a definate roommate. She told me last night that her friend wants to join us! Whew! That takes a load off of my mind. She'll have someone her own age to room with and won't have to add on to the rest of our rooms. Our grand total is up to 12 cruisers! I just wanted to tell you all the good news.

tjeagle, here are some more ideas to keep the cruise countdown alive and to get you excited for Feb:

1. Bargain shop for cruise goodies. Sandals, swimsuits, shorts, sun hats & beach bags are always on clearance. It sounds like you've already starting shopping, but always keep your eyes open for more!

2. Work on some signs / artwork for your stateroom door. It's great fun to create magnetic designs & helps to pass the time.

3. Create a Disney cruise music cd & play it often. I always listen to steel drums or some of the popular music they play on the ship when I need a cruise fix.

4. Brush up on your classic Disney cartoons. It's always a great idea to watch the classics before you cruise. You can watch one a week up to the cruise...THAT should keep you busy!

5. Work on your budget. It always helps me to have general numbers in mind so I know about how much I'll be spending on a cruise. Add up your excursions, tips, approximate spending allowances & you'll see what you're in for. It makes the cruise more enjoyable to know if you are on budget while you're there.

6. Create a nifty little countdown calendar. My friend has made the cutest countdown calendars for our last few cruises! I've always enjoyed it when I have a VISUAL of how many days/weeks are left.

7. Plan a pre-cruise party! I have had some great times with my group doing this. We have a party about 2 weeks before we leave for the Magic. We dress up in full tropical wear, decorate the house to look like an island retreat, eat like royalty and play cruise games for "cruise prizes." We've had a blast with cruise pictionary, relay games, plinko, bingo and a "design your own ship" game. Planning the whole thing is a blast & takes up lots of idol time when you're dying to be on the ship.

Well, I hope that helps. I'll rack my brain for more ideas! I've attached a picture of my kitchen at my last pre-cruise party. I made my kitchen island into the Magic with cardboard and a couple of buckets! It looked so cute! I used the "stacks" of the ship to hold snack platters and the desserts were all over the "deck." This is how I keep myself busy before a cruise! :rotfl2:

Have a Disney Day everyone!

The boat idea looks great, let know when your next cruise party is and we'll jump on a plane. I believe we're going to drive out to Michigan to visit my DW's brother this summer, probably mid July when we return from Alaska. We usually like to visit places for a couple of weeks. I haven't begun to plan yet but I was thinking of Wisconsin Dells, any ideas out that way would be appreciated. :goodvibes

joksten2000,

I'll be sure to tell you when our next pre-cruise party is happening! ;)

You'd have a great time in Wisconsin Dells. I've been there a few times. I highly recommend Noah's Ark Water park. They have some great waterslides there, just not the great theming that Typhoon & BB have. There are some fun go-carts too! If you can control your road rage! You should make a point to watch the status of the new Disney Outlet Store opening in the Tanger Outlet Mall. The mall is right in the Dells and is supposed to start opening stores at the end of July. I'm not sure when the Disney Outlet Store is opening, but it would be a GREAT Disney fix for you! Heck, I might have to check it out too!

You'll have to keep me posted as to what you decide.

Well it looks like its official and we will be joining you on the Feb 3rd Cruise! My husband and I just bought into DVC and will be using points for the cruise. I am so excited to be going on the Magic again! It will be me, my husband, DS 6, DD 3 years 11 months! We were on the Magic Feb 4, 2006 and had such a great time! It will be here before we know it!

Nice to have you join us. Look forward to hearing from you over the waiting period.

I found how to post pictures. Getting lonesome so I made a door sign for the cruise and put it on our front door. Cheers me up.

JOKSTEN: Love the DOOR!! Awesome!!! How is everything going? It has been awhile since I was on this Thread! How is DD? Will you still be joining us for the Feb 3rd MAGIC??? :boat: :boat: :boat:

So many new cruisers have signed on...WELCOME :welcome: to all of them as well!!!!

The welcome's are much appreciated! The board has provided some very valuable insight into plannig this trip. Not only is this our first Disney Cruise this is our first cruise! We are so wet behind the ears we should have our own forum! Our youngest DS will be 4 years and 2 months when we sail so chances are very good they will end up possibly in the same group.
I have really enjoyed the friendly banter between Dis members. From a Canadian perspective we certainly do not have the flexibility or opportunities to plan savings alternatives unless we are seasoned cruisers.
We booked directly with DCL. Flights, Insurance and all! Why? Yes it is more expensive but coordination and peace of mind are worth something for us. Flying 5 people from Western Canada in the dead of February to the southern Eastern Seaboard requires some good planning and luck! Winter storms, missed connections etc can really throw a Mom off! There is nothing worse than a stressed Mom! :sunny: We are arriving the night before just to make sure we get on that boat! Has anyone else on the board flown from Western Canada? Coordination of getting those five people on a ship becomes even more complicated. I saw a thread the other day and someone was inquiring how people can afford to go so often. Honestly everything I read in there was true. It is a matter of priority. Even though I almost have to sell my left kidney to go (it is costing us 11,000CAD), it is worth it...why? Our experience is that whenever you take any sort of Disney vacation you get exactly what you pay for (your money's worth). Reasonable expectations and a go with the flow attitude make for a happy cruise!
I LOVE  the door magnets...I am so inspired now! :cheer2:

Greetings frexicle!

I can totally relate to your plan for using the "total Disney package" for getting your family to the ship in Feb. I did the same thing with my group on our first couple of trips. We felt safe using Disney's services for everything & it worked famously! Everyone got to the ship & had the time of their lives! It's great to hear that you're making your first voyage with all of us. You will have an amazing cruise & memories that will last a lifetime. Let me just say that there is nothing like the feeling of being on the ship for the first time. It's pure MAGIC! So many new things to see, smiling faces everywhere, the service & the FOOD! Don't worry about being "new" to cruising, you will find your way around the ship in no time.

Joksten2000 has inspired me to post a pic of my door art from last August. I recieved a special award from the DIS judges onboard! They tagged my door handle with an "award" for my foam displays! I like to use foam for my signs...as you can see. It's so fun seeing everyone's ideas. My group made our signs at our pre-cruise party. It was a great activity for the party & everyone got really into it! It was fun watching all of these adults design their signs....reminded me of art class in grade school!

jblb1020, congrats on your DVC purchase! I'm a DVC'er myself. I often find myself giving the standard "best thing I ever did" speech to people....but I'll spare you! You made a great choice! Did you purchase at SSR or another resort? I'm in love with SSR....can't wait until Sept. 23rd, my next trip home! Again, CONGRATS & welcome to the Feb. 3rd group!

I suppose I should get some work done :rolleyes1

Have a Disney Day everyone!

I don't know who is more excited me or the kids. My DM is coming to watch the house and the pets. We have a cat, a dog, two cockatiels and a greenwing macaw. We just completed and received our passports this week. That along with the long version birth certificates amounted to another 450.00. Ours had expired and the kids needed their own...everything seems to come at once. Passport Canada was awesome and efficient. DCL has been very patient and helpful with all our questions and requests. Things are going smoothly. party:

You are a step ahead of me with the Passports! I had no idea they cost so much (seems similar here in the US) I hope to get that done once school is out! (7 more days of school!!) :Pinkbounc

Good morning!

It is a rainy cool 7c/44f here this morn. There seems to be such an abundant supply of scrapbooking Disney supplies here I think that is how I am going to make my little door sign. I love reading everyone's travelog on the boards. It is amazing what seasoned travellers DIS people are!

Have been to Disneyland twice now but that's it for Disney. At least I know what I am doing when I retire and get some Grandchildren!......DCL!

Apparently their is a seperate line for Canucks when we check in at the terminal. Is that a good thing or not?

I wish
I could find out or flight itinerary...
I am a planner and it drives me bonkers not knowing!
