Feb No Buy! Short Month! We can do this!

Feb 1: $15 at Walgreens (but now I'm done with Valentine's day and also picked up cards for a friend's new baby and a birthday party we're going to on Saturday)

I'm in again. Unfortunately for the budget, our household is about to add another adult to it. DD was evacuated out of Cairo (teaches there), and the teachers are coming home to Canada until things settle down. So now, it's me, DH, DD17, DS26 (and his girlfriend, who stays a lot of the time :rolleyes1), and DD25 next week. I guess we'll be splurging for that 25th birthday dinner, too. I haven't included the added costs of flights, hotels etc for the evac. Luckily, I have some emergency fund to cover those items.

For the month, I'd love to have 10 $0 days. And I'll just track the other expenses.

Feb. 1: Groceries $30, summer conference for me....$295 (luckily, I've saved for this and it is not really a part of the budget ;) )

CHARMING, I just noticed you lost 5 pounds. Good for you!!! :yay::yay::yay:

Thanks. It is coming off slowly but it is staying off. I hope for 4-5 lbs per month.

I actually made dinner tonight for the first time in over 2 weeks. It was a simple crock pot dinner, but I did it! I even ate a small amount of it. I am actually really looking forward to cooking again once I can stand up again. And good thing, our well stocked freezer is very empty from hubby having to cook. Which is fine, glad it was there, but I will need to replenish for sure!

So glad you were feeling well enough to cook. That shows major improvement. I hope you comtinue to get better.

How cute! I am a "totally not new poster, but returning". :)

ahhh what a great idea.. I'm on board. I'm shooting for 11 no spend days. My cupboards are needing a refill as I clear them out at the end of every year, but it's slowly coming. I don't think 11 is out of reach.. If only I could tell my car to drive by that taco bell on the way home from work:)

I'm in again this month!

Welcome new faces, hope you love the thread!

I've shooting for a goal of 12 no-buys for the shorter month. This month both DH and I have birthdays, plus v-day so that ads some extra expenses. Thankfully, we aren't having major birthdays this year so no big parties and we never do anything big for v-day. We are planning on buying a new house in March or April, so we need to do some saving to prep for the extra moving expenses.

Feb 1 I like to start the month with a no buy, but no such luck today. $70 had to register the boys for soccer and swimming, but I found out I had a big credit on my account (yay for found money!) so that took care of half the bill, $60 groceries.

Feb 2 It was errand day today, so $$$! $170 groceries, $40 gas, $25 filed my taxes. Hopefully this will take care of any spending through early next week.

0/12 no buy days

Because there is a holiday ( Valentines Day :lovestruc ) and a 3 day weekend (President's day weekend) I'm going to make a goal of EIGHT no $pend days in February.

Ahhh...YOU were the one with the DD in Egypt! I knew someone on the January thread had said their DD was teaching in Egypt and I couldn't remember who. I was thinking about you and hoping your DD was safe!

I just booked my next tattoo! So like you, I'm saving for a trip to Disney and a new tattoo. :cool1:

So how many tattoos do you have already and what are they of? What are you getting? I don't have one, but a friend and I were having the conversation of "what would you get if you got one?" and I think I'd probably get a little fleur de lis, but I have NO plans to get one!

i'll make a goal of 15 no spend days. If only I had no credit/debit cards or internet...I'd have a lot more money if I actually had to go out to spend it!

Feb 1-$25 wedding music
Feb 2-$100 imported chocolate, etc.
Feb 3-nothing
Feb 4-nothing
Feb 5-fill my car with gas $40
Feb 6-nothing
Feb 7-nothing so far.

I just booked my next tattoo! So like you, I'm saving for a trip to Disney and a new tattoo. :cool1:

I know!! Tattoo are so expensive! We are just finishing up my DH's 1/2 sleeve. Once it's finished, we official start saving towards my 1/2 sleeve. I'll be honest though, the Disney trip folder gets filled before the tattoo folder - a girl has to have priorities ;)

Snow day number 2 in a row. The Board of Ed. where I teach is going to discuss taking away the Feb. vacation, which would be great except for the fact that my sons' district will still have it. That would make for a tough week!

2/1: :cool1:
2/2: :cool1:

no buy days: 2/11
meals out: 0/5
longest streak: 3

Even though we had spending yesterday, it was for essentials and great sales of things we really did need. I fought really hard and won against the temptation to have DH pick up fast food while he was out running errands. So, I consider it a big victory.:cool1:

1. $43.00 toiletries and medicine
2. 0

so far so good. We will be out tomorrow for a dr. appt. Hope to stay out of the stores, though. I have a tendency to go in for 1 or 2 things and come out with a bag full of stuff that I really don't need.
