Here is my story....
I have booked a ressie in Feb. It is the 16th thru the 23 at AKL with the BDP code for 164 night.

This date is from Wed to Wed over the presidents weekend.

I could have booked the 13-20 but it would not have worked out as well but now everyone has me scared about presidents weekend being so crowded. I am going in Feb to avoid the big crowds with my 2 sons (6years old and 4 years old)

Did I make a mistake booking over this weekend ... is it going to be really crowded ..... Should I change my ressies to the week of 13-20??

I need help..... Please

Thanks in advance

My advice is to stick with the dates you already decided on.

I also play the game "When will the park be least crowded?" and it seems like its always a toss up.

There's Mardi Gras weekend, President's Day, and Valentine's Day in February, and I guess those days effect park attendance. Last year, we went down over Mardi Gras - we didn't know that until we got there and saw everyone wearing beads! MK was pretty crowded but we used Fast Passes for everything and had no problem. The other parks weren't crowded at all.

February is value season., so the park will be less busy than most other times of the year.

I would avoid President's Day weekend altogether if I were you. Both of the time frames you mention include it. We will be in WDW from Feb 6-18, and we are even avoiding the parks on Friday the 18th as we think that's when the big President's Day crowds will begin to show up. But, if your schedule doesn't allow you to move it up anymore than the 13th-20th, then you'll just have to deal with the crowds that weekend (or do things outside of the parks on that Sat/Sun!) Crowds or not, atleast you're going to WDW! ::yes:: Good luck. :)

I have only been over Presiden't Day one time - in 2002. We had been there all week for Mardi Gras :jester: Crowds were pretty light all week - and then came Friday! :( The crowds were noticeably higher - although I can't really tell you exactly how bad since I never go during peak season - but I remember my husband and I saying how thankful we were that we were leaving the next day!

I had a friend that went last year the week before Presidents week and they said it was great. Low crowds. I do hear presidents week is bad though. Do you really have a problem switching weeks? School situation? Airlines? I think it all depends on how much of a hassle it is to switch. We are going the 5-12 but only because my kids school situation. 2nd grader will miss only 2 days and my Kindergarten None. SO we felt we had to go that week because of their schedule. But it is Mardi Gras and Supebowl Sunday so I wish I could change it!

Either way I don't believe it will be too crowded that you will feel frustrated. I heard that the Saturday to Monday of Pres. week is tough so maybe just plan around that.

Good luck!

How was the week of Mardi Gras?? Can't change my plans so I hope it is not too bad!!!

Thanks for all the info...

I backed up my stay to be there on 14 and check out on presidents day the 21. Best I could do

At least we will have five days before the crowd starts on Saturday.

Thanks again for all the help

I cant wait

CMBar -

As a rule, Mardi Gras is never bad (we do it every year). You can SEE the crowds (dressed in purple, green and gold) but not reallly FEEL them if you know what I mean. I think people from N. O. feel them more because you end up bumping into tons of people you know.

I hope this helps, but truthfully, it has never been anything to worry about in the past - only when it coinsides with President's Day.:D

Anyone have any special plans for Valentine's Day? Does WDW do anything special for Valentine's?
