Feb 6 2010 7 Night Western

So Trudy... I am curious... will you cruise again? With DCL??

What about any other folks who were on their first cruise or first DCL cruise? What did you think? Would you do it again? Does having the 20% off influence your decision?

Already planning one for next year.

Here you go, boys:

I'm honestly not sure if I would. Our daughter was teething the entire time and was in a miserable mood, but of course that had nothing to do with Disney. It did make it a bit stressful though. Thing is we did enjoy our cruise prior to what we now refer to as the Castaway Cay Catastrophe ;) We liked cruising better than the resorts we visited in the past. Would we go with Disney again - not sure. The kids did love it but I was so unimpressed with how they handled the last couple of days. :sad2:

We tried to make calls the night we got stranded and were told not to come down 'til the next morning at 9 am. I later found out other people were making calls that night. I have to wonder of Disney wanted to rebook THEIR passengers first... I don't know but it really messed us up as we entirely missed our flight by the time we were able to make a call almost SIX hours after waiting in line without Disney so much as passing out water despite a few people specificall asking CM's to do so. They were also offering to compensate certain people who had to trip insurance and not others. Then, when we ultimately got to the airport, Continental apparently never confirmed our flight on Air Canada (which I do not buy - they were overbooked because other passengers were irate) and we got bumped from a direct at noon to a layover flight at 5pm - not fun with a tween throwing up every hours. Finally, we had to book a hotel in Montreal because we got in so late and THEY lost our ressies too. I kid you not. Overall, a disaster. Now I recognize that isn't ALL Disney's fault, but it doesn't leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling at the end of your vacation! ;) We also saw a line of passengers that Disney had apparently rebooked that found out at the airport they had no flight home. Don't even get me started on the disaster at the port for debarkation.

Putting all that aside, as I said we did enjoy cruising in general. If things had been better we probably would go with them again. Who knows, maybe once the irritation wears off, we will be able to chalk it up to a one off - I know this is the exception rather than the norm. The food was great and most of the staff was fantastic.

The only downside (pre CCC ;)) was we both agreed we would have preferred longer to explore the islands.. ie. 2 days in any given port which Disney doesn't offer yet. Maybe we'll try a different line and the experience will leave us thinking our Disney experience with the CCC and all was a walk in the park!

I have heard that they changed some of the shows. Can someone tell me what they were?

Saturday Night (first night)--All Abourd: Let the Magic Begin
Sunday Night (Formal Night) --Golden Mickey's
Monday Night (Not sure on which night this is)--Twice Charmed
Tuesday Night ---Maybe a couple of the entertainers (magicians/comedians)
Wednesday Night (Pirate Night)--Is this Movie Night?
Thursday Night ( I think..Semi-Formal)--Disney Dreams
Friday Night (last night)--Remember the Magic

I realize you guys were on the 6 night cruise and this might not have been the same. I'm just curious if they replaced some of these shows with something else. Thanks!!

Actually we were on an 8 night cruise! :thumbsup2

Saturday - Welcome aboard - Let the Magic begin
Sunday - Showtime- Michael Harrison
Monday - Twice Charmed
Tuesday - Once abon a Song (I believe this is where the Villan show will fit in once it comes online)
Wednesday - Movie - Princess and the Frog
Thrusday - Disney Dreams
Friday - Remember the Magic - A final Farewell
Saturday - Comedy Act written specifically for the extra night

We're taking the scenic route home -
around the tip of Africa!

Did anyone run into Handsome Daniel???;)

Glad you guys are all back safe.

I did see handsome Daniel and said to him, "Hello handsome Daniel," and he got a big smile and looked at me a little puzzled. I told him I had heard that was his nickname and he said he would "get back at those three ladies." LOL!!

We saw him a few times, but he was always busy....

And we were kind of busy with Simone......:rolleyes1

Good job, Shannon! :thumbsup2

I have more friends tormenting him on the current cruise too.

For the EBTA we are giving him one of our group lanyards with "Handsome Daniel" on the name tag. (friend on this week's cruise will be verifying that he'll be on the ship).

:lmao::lmao:

In my previous message I had almost typed:

...since the boys didn't seem to be able to get past Simone to look for him!

.

I also got the cold thing the last day, well, what was supposed to be the last day on the ship and had it all week at WDW. Just getting over it now, but Tristan now has it at the worst point. He came home from work early today and has sneezed a million times.

Thank you everyone for the FE gifts! I love doing that.

We rebooked on the ship for next February on the Wonder to Mexico. Not exactly sure why, Tristan hated Mexico, lol! The people would not leave him alone, but we did get to see a tiny, little chihuahua stop in the big cement square park type area and poop. It was hilarious and I got a picture of it. It is already on my Facebook and has gotten laughs. It is funny! We may change it to something else, but we are going with my friend from work and her little boy who will be 6 at that time.

I know I am dreaming, but since I rebooked and got the 10% $200 for that offer, and now they are giving us 20% for the CCC, are they going to give me the 20% or only 10% more. If only 10% more, I will be kind of mad about it, as it is too separate things and it would be like those of us that booked onboard are only getting 20% for our inconvenience. I will be calling this week and will let you know what happens :confused3

We had a GREAT time even with having to wait in line for 5 1/2 hours on my feet to use the phone to try to call the hotel to cancel. I just got practice for WDW. There were LONG lines, but not at night. We rode everything we wanted at night in only like 3 hours at Magic Kingdom. It was great.

Hope to see you all on another DC sometime, as we do not do any other.

I am sure he will like it. He really did seem to "enjoy' the name
