FEB 3, 2008 ABROAD DISNEY WONDER--Who else??

I was checking to see if we got any new pixie dust and looked at the cabins available and the only thing left is Cat9, Cat10, and Cat12. The weird thing is that all are GTY no rooms available. I guess that could be good if they get some last minute Cat12's to sign up!!! Last week there were no Cat12's available.

Here is to hoping.:thumbsup2

It's not a traditional fish extender but it should do the trick!

Different colored hightlighters for each person for the navigators

Haven't decided on the alcohol yet. Might grab something for DH but I think the drinks of the day, etc. sound too yummy to pass up.

Most people bring drinks and stuff for the longer cruise but ours is gonna fly and there are plenty of drink options on the cruise such as the two fer one alcholic drinks & drink of the days are reasonable:thumbsup2

I read that if you put DH blue and you yellow the things you want to do together turn green!!!!

Here's some I was reading about and jotted down:
*Visine (if you don't already) for sore eyes after swimming in the ocean.
*Zip Ties to secure the fish extender to the fish- just in case they decide to walk or swim off...
*Water bottles- for going ashore or even for the pool. They do have water, but if I remember, they have little paper cups so it would spill easy or get warm easy.
*Water Bottle Huggers/Coolies/Whatever you may call them- If you're bringing water bottles.
*Preprinted address labels with your name, address, phone, cell phone, and stateroom number on them. The last night you have to leave your luggage outside your room by a certain time so they can unload it for you the next morning (This is if you don't want to be halling all of it in with you for breakfast the next morning). It's hard enough to get packed in time, but filling out those tags just adds to the hassle (especially if you have lots of luggage like me!). Someone suggested this and I thought it sounded like a time saver to me!!

And my favorite- plain white pillow case and and colored Sharpies. Put in a plastic Ziploc with your name and turn it into guest services the first night. They will have all of the characters sign it and you can pick it up the last day. I've heard people have had a great experience with this and had them turn out really cute. We've never done it before, so I thought we'd try.

Powerstrip/extension cord (very few outlets)

This was very essential for my various chargers, laptop and gadgets on our last trip!

PassPorter has a great DC e-guide that is ALL user tips. It's a PDF e-book, so there is no waiting. You can find it here:

http://www.passporter.com/dcl/cruiseclues.asp

You can either pay the $4.95 straight up for the book, or do what I did, and spend that same $4.95 for their club membership, then you can download this book, and several others at no additional cost.:teacher:

No worries, as the Passport date has been pushed back untill this summer...if you DW & DS have a certified birth certificate that will be fine. My sister and I will be using just the birth certificates. The Passport law for air travel has passed and if you needed to be flown back from Bahamas, etc. then you would need a passport. I have confirmed with my TA at Dreams Unlimited and With DCL about this.

Not that I especially doubt Steph, but this isn't one of those things I can afford to be wrong on.

Can anyone else confirm this?

I was thinking of bringing some beer, and maybe some Bailey's. However, I can't see sitting on the end of my bed, drinking a beer, and it might seem strange carrying my own drink into the bar, or a party.:drinking1

In my younger days I might have brought a bottle of Scotch to take a few hits from before a party, just to prime the pump, ya know.:drinking:

One tip I read was that you can mail stuff to yourself for the cruise. This would include alcohol. I guess they deliver packages right to your room. But you have to send it soon in order for them to direct it properly. I can find the address if anyone wants it.

I would call DIsney today and ask for sure if you need a passport. Because I was told the same thing Steph was...if you left from a port and went to the Bahamas you could use just your SS and BirthCertificate. But if you had to leave the islands you would not be able to board a plane. They did push back the date from January 08 to this summer. I kinda remember that because I was so mad that we wasted $300 for passports. If you can not call Disney....let us know and one of us would love to call for you! :yay:

I like to have a few glasses of wine before we go out sometimes.....so I thought it would be cheaper to bring. I don't want to spend $50 a day on alcohol for me and DH. I will work on it.

Keep those room numbers coming!!!!

In reviewing the US Department of State's website http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html

Cruises for Feb 2008 can still use birth certificates along with photo id driver's license. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc_2223.html

LAND AND SEA TRAVEL
The following summarizes information available on the Department of Homeland Security’s website.
JANUARY 31, 2008
U.S. and Canadian citizens will need to present either a WHTI-compliant document, or a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, plus proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate. DHS also proposes to begin alternative procedures for U.S. and Canadian children at that time.

SUMMER 2008
At a later date, to be determined, the departments will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have either a U.S. passport; a U.S. passport card; a trusted traveler card such as NEXUS, FAST, or SENTRI; a valid Merchant Mariner Document (MMD) when traveling in conjunction with official maritime business; or a valid U.S. Military identification card when traveling on official orders.

The implementation date will be determined based on a number of factors, including the progress of actions undertaken by the Department of Homeland Security to implement the WHTI requirements and the availability of WHTI compliant documents on both sides of the border. DHS and DOS expect the date of full WHTI implementation to be in the summer of 2008. The precise implementation date will be formally announced with at least 60 days notice.
Note: The passport requirement does NOT apply to U.S. citizens traveling to or returning directly from a U.S. territory.
