MERRY CHRISTMAS KREWE

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I’m back. I spent the last hour or so catching up on all the posts. I had missed most of that the first time I checked in here. Now I have a few questions. I’m going to break this up into several different posts to make it easier for you all to reply (or skip :rotfl: ) each part. But let’s start here…

What was the final decision on the Magnet Exchange; Disney, Home Town, both? Do we just go to each other’s rooms and leave magnets anonymously? Do we leave a magnet on each party’s door each day, or a different person each day?

What is the status on Secret Mickey? IMHO, this should be called Secret Tink. Here’s why; 1) Secret Mickey sounds too much like Hidden Mickey, 2) Tink is a fairy, and fairies visit secretly and leave surprises behind, 3) most of your children are DDs and would be more into Tink anyway princess: .

For those still interested in a gift exchange, here’s a suggestion; visit your local Disney store after Christmas and see about picking up plushes and/or toy sets on sale. You can buy an action figure set, then “part it out” over the course of the cruise, giving out one figure at a time.

Question: What is a “Fish Extender”

General Cruise question: I am getting mixed messages about what Bevs are free on board. I know we pay for all alcohol. What about soda? Other soft drinks (coffee, juice, etc)?

Speaking of paying for stuff, how much (ballpark) is your vacation costing everyone? My DW is starting to think we are spending too much :scared: . Granted, we are spending the following week at WDW too. Here’s the breakdown for our party of three(3):

Air Fair (CA to FL) $720
Cruise (Cat 12) $1900
SoG WDW Resort (8 night) $625
WDW 5day passes(NO hop) $633
Universal Studios $250
Food Budget $800
TOTAL ~$5000
Plus extras like souvenirs and excursions

I realize this may be considered very personal to some people:eek: . Please don’t take offence at my asking. I only hope some of you are comfortable talking about this:angel: .

New subject; Men. No, no, no. Not like that.

I mean us DHs. It seems the DWs are predominant on this board. I want to know what your Hubbies are thinking too. I admit that until this trip my DW, Lisa, has always been the one planning our DL trips, and spending her time at MouseEars, et al. :surfweb: (In fact I think she’s a little ticked at me for stepping into her teritory by being here. ) The moral is, it's mostly the ladies we are hearing from here.

I’m wonder what the guys are planning for this trip. Are you gentlemen planning to spend every hour with your DW (I’m not :rolleyes1 )? Who’s interested in a Man Meet? Wait, that didn’t sound right…Guy Gathering? :groom: Better. The Beer Tasting sounds like a good start. How about a fishing excursion at Nassau or Castaway Cay  .

Who’s spending time at WDW too?

Before? After?

How many days?

Where are you staying?

For instance; we are do WDW after the cruise for 5 days, and are staying at SoG.

We have a Cat 12 cabin. I too am hoping for an upgrade. How do you go about getting one? :confused3 I was just planning to show up at the terminal early and asking at check in. Is that too late? I’m also waiting for DC to release Military Discounts. If / when they do, I get it retroactively! :woohoo:

For dinner, we have are scheduled for the Main seating.

I made our Palo Dinner ressies for 9:00 on night two(2). I chose this late seating for a few reasons. I read a few tips that said to go for the night we are docked at Nassau so the view is better. It was also suggested to make ‘em late so we can eat a light snack with DS while he eats his dinnerpopcorn:: . Also, by the time I got to the ressies, there weren’t many other choices left. Anyone got any opinions on this timing? How strongly should we consider a Palo Brunch too?

Hi and welcome back:teleport: !

I will give it a go and try to answer some of your questions. Your Palo ressies sound fine (but you will be there for 2 to 2 1/2 hours -takes a LONG time and I know my little one was not happy for us to be gone so late:rolleyes: ) and I would strongly suggest the brunch as it is amazing!! you can try booking on aboard as soon as you get on the ship. We also have a GTY 12 and DCL usually will provide those room numbers from 30 days or so before we cruise. I would keep an eye on those Military discounts as that would be a for sure upgrade (or money saver)pirate:

My sister and I will be flying in the day before cruise and staying at the lovely Hyatt in Orlando airport...we will be staying at WDW 3 days after cruise at the Beach Club. This will be my sis's first visit and I have lost count on my visits:upsidedow but we got a "wonder"ful rate on the cruise (500.00 each) and airfare from San Diego 220.00 on Delta...don't forget to budget in the "tips" for the cruise and they add up.:scared1: Yes, it is an expensive vacation but so worth it. Your gonna love the cruise:thumbsup2

DH: Sorry, mine is staying home with the kiddos this time:scared1: What a guy!! but he said he would have enjoyed a fishing trip at Castaway Cay! I guess I just might have to look into booking another DCL onboard :cool2: don't feel too bad for him as he has been on the Magic and Wonder for a total of 5 cruises:dance3:

Drinks: DCL charges for all alcoholic drinks, smoothies (also if ordering room service only milk, tea, some juices are "free"). Any drinks from the bar (including sodas) also cost money. There is a big "drink station" next to Mickey pool that has free drink dispensers, sodas, hot/cold tea, milk...sodas, milk, tea & juice also "free" in all the dining rooms.

I like the Secret Tink name change! That sounds like a great idea to me!!:)

It's gonna be a great cruise and looking forward to meeting the Krewe:hourglass

Really crooked pic. but here are a few of the door signs that I made for our last cruise.:)

From what we discussed....I think you can do the exchange for magnets any way you want. If you decide to do them daily you can leave them on their door or on their fish extender (Don't forget you may not get one each night from all...just to keep in mind). If you do one nice one we kinda decided that home town would be too hard too common...so just do whatever. I think we decided to put your familys name and date on the back of each one given. My plan is for everynight for every family. Some will be homemade and prob one nice one on the last night or so.

We have not yet decided on this. But it would be nice to know for shopping tomorrow huh? I LOVE TINK!!!! forget the kids....LOL

On the outside of each stateroom door is a metal fish attached to the walll. Is it like a huge paper clip that they can connect mail or notes to. Most cruise people will make an extender that goes on that so they have more room for stuff or a pocket for each family memter kind of thing. Most are made of fabric or plastic....Think miniture over the door shoe rack!

I know on deck 9 all beverages are free except alcohol. I read quite a few posts about coffee and juice in the am so I am thinking they are included too. You can not order drinks through room service without paying though...free only if you go get.
