Feb 28, 2010 - 4 night Wonder Cruise

I may be wrong on this, but I think I've read in the past that most (if not all) of the handicapped rooms have the roll-in shower but no tub.

Yes, you're right. I called DCL and they confirmed - no tub. I guess it's ok since it's on deck 7 and close to the pools. Upgrading would cost quite a bit since it seems all the inside rooms are booked. Cat 9 upgrade would cost $600.

Anyone else getting a bit freaked out by the reports of illness on Wonder? I know we have about 5 weeks before we board, but it's putting a damper on my excitement. I don't want to fall into a fit of paranoia spraying everything in my path with Lysol. :(

I was thinking the same thing. Scary stuff. Hope they disinfect the ship really good before now and when we leave. In any case, I think I will bring the lysol.

I want to take a hershey's kiss and place a sticker on the bottom as part of my FE. Does anybody know if that is acceptable? The kiss will still be in it's original wrapper--but out of the sealed bag (I have to open to place sticker on bottom). Does that go against Disney's rule that all food must be pre-packaged? I just don't want to go through all that work only to have to throw them out? Can anybody help?!?!?!

Add me to list of germophobes:lmao: I'll be bringing large can of Lysol and wipes, hand sanitizer .I'll do whatever I can not to get sick.

Well, I admit when I saw our room assignments today...I was pretty disappointed. I have two rooms with 4 people each in them. We had GTY 12 (I knew it had to be at least Cat 11, since 12s don't fit 4), and have been assigned two Cat 11 rooms on separate floors. I thought too that there aren't too many Cat 11s that fit families of 4.

Ah well. I was hoping for at least a Cat 10 upgrade. This is the first time in 5 cruises that I ever booked a GTY room, because we've always needed two rooms next to each other for our family of 5 - I always just booked the specific rooms. Twice verandahs, twice inside - never, ever upgraded (please don't lecture me that the 11 is an upgrade ).

I know most folks don't get upgraded, it just eventually got irritating when cruise after cruise I'd read I'd read about folks on my cruises who got upgraded from a 12 to a better room (even verandah), when I had paid full fare for that same category. I had my fingers crossed this time...just didn't happen.

Thank you for letting me get that off my chest! In actuality, I was initially disappointed, but I quickly got over it! As my Sis said, we got a great deal on a cruise!:dance3:

Two different floors! I would be disappointed too, You'd think they could have at least got you all on the same floor.

Thanks BDawn. I knew that was the risk I was taking. It's not too bad, as both rooms are at the front of the ship, so it's just a quick flight of steps. This time it's not my immediate family in the other room...just my 17 year old w/ my sister, BIL and their toddler.

As the cruise gets closer, I'll check to see what else is available; but I think we can make this work!:)

I checked today and it looks like all inside and oceanview rooms are sold. Do you think the website is accurate or do rooms start showing up closer to the sail date. I wouldn't mind changing my room if something else is available.

That is awesome Tammy!:cool1: Our cabin was assigned today too. We booked 12gty (4 people) and received an 11. I was hoping that we would get an upgrade too, but I am really just happy to be going.

Angie,

I need your cabin number for the FE exchange!!

Thanks,
Tammy

Honestly I think that should be ok, but you never know. Could you wait til you are onbard to assemble?

We live right outside of Hershey - love those Kisses!!

Sorry to hear about the rooms - we've been where you are, disappointed in not getting an upgrade, I guess we just got lucky this time. My fear is that we will be spoiled with a porthole and when we cruise again in November and we have a cat 11, we won't enjoy it

I saw you mentioned your 17yo - boy or girl?? If he or she would like to talk to my DD (17 as well) before the cruise, let me know - facebook or text messaging seems to be the way they communicate best.

Can of lysol - packed, container of clorox wipes - packed, hand sanitzier - packed.

Think I'm ready :rotfl::rotfl:

Hmm..I think more likely rooms show up right after final payment due. But there could be some!:thumbsup2

You'll still enjoy November - I missed not having verandah on my last 2 cruises (but only a teeny bit), but I still really enjoyed the cruises!

re: teens - my son is 17, this is his spring break. He is active on the teen DIS board, and I'm sure would be glad to communicate w/ your daughter. He has facebook and text; I'll ask him! He's a good kid, very clean cut, is working hard this winter with his school musical - Beauty and the Beast - he has a variety of ensemble roles in the production - having fun!:thumbsup2

Okay Tammy, now I am starting to think that you are entirely too organized!:rotfl: I am already starting to worry that I am not going to have everything ready by cruise time. The girls decided to have pillowcases signed, so I sent off a request to milliepie for a design. I saw that you and breakingd awn also had requests for her too! Another request went out for door magnets so we will at least have that on the door. I haven't even thought about what we are going to wear or pack yet.

Which brings me to the FE. I was going to wait a few more days to try to figure out what I am going to do, but I just don't see that happening anytime soon, so could you please take us off the FE list. DH told me a month ago that I shouldn't sign up for it because I wouldn't have the time and would only stress about it. I guess he knows me better than I do!:rotfl2: Can you still send me the final list though? I did start one (very small project) and if I finish enough I still want to pass them out.

Thanks!

Pooh Jen- Maybe you could call them to see if they can at least put your rooms together. We ended up with an 11 also. I guess the beauty of this being my families first Disney cruise is that we don't know what we are missing in a higher cat room.

atm55- Did you decide that you don't want the HA room after all? The web site seems to change daily. Some days I would check and there wouldn't be hardly anything available and other days there were rooms in every cat. My guess is that there will be rooms that open up right after final payment too.

My family thinks so too - I start my shopping months before our trip - I buy a few things each week with my groceries - it breaks the cost up and doesn't seem quite as expensive as if I wait til right before we go. I just keep everything in a duffle bag in my bedroom.

Sorry to hear about the FE exchange - don't stress over it - also remember that you don't need to make your gift - anything is fine - maybe you could just do something easier for you - postcards or something from were you live. We did candy bars on our last trip - everyone got the same thing. It was way easier than doing individual gifts for everyone. Can you still email me your cabin number - I have gifts for your kids and I would still like to drop them off. I will keep you on the list for now, just let me know your final decision. I will make sure to send you the final list either way.
