Feb 28, 2010 - 4 night Wonder Cruise

We do to! We still haven't booked anything for the Sat night before yet. We also plan to be at the port ASAP I don't want to waste any time on board! also I know DS will be itching to get in the Mickey pool so we want to get ahead of the crowds.

We will swing by Target or a grocery store that morning to get some wine does anyone know if there are any issues buying alcohol on a Sunday morning? ( I thought in some areas you couldn't until noon)

Do you think it will be warm enough to go in the pools? I really hope so, I'm from Chicago and would love some warm weather. I just booked my room for the Saturday before at WDW. We were not planning on going to WDW but my granddaughter and I participated in the "Give a Day - Get a Day" and we each earned a free ticket to one park for one day.

I hope it is warm enough for the pools. Of course, anything will be better than Ohio weather and my kids will still want to swim even if the temp is in the 40s!

Breakingd_awn, where in Ohio are you located? We are driving both ways from Barberton (right by Akron) which should prove to be an interesting journey with my four kids. We drove to Disney World a couple of years ago and the trip seemed twice as long on the way back!

We live in Marengo and it's about 40min north of Columbus. I think your an hour or more north of us. Do you drive straight through or do your stay overnight somewhere? On the way back we thought we would drive 8 stay at hotel , then another 8hrs to home. My kids would also swim when it's freezing , I just can't do that any more:)

So you guys that are driving - how long of drive do you have? We are flying this trip, but will be driving in June when we go to WDW for my DD's graduation trip. For us its a 14.5 hour drive without stops. I'm hoping it won't be too bad since my kids are older - give them an ipod, their cell phone and a dvd palyer and they'll be happy :lmao: Me on the other hand will be crzay an hour into the trip :rotfl:

Still waiting on my cabin assignment - was hoping for it sooner than later, but I have a feeling its going to be another week or two before they post anything - oh well a girl can hope :surfweb:

Were flying down to Fla but driving back home, next time were just going to fly roundtrip as of now it would have been cheaper than the rental van expenses. Of course it would be even cheaper if we drove our own van , but I don't want to put all those miles on it. Are any of you ladies thinking of booking another cruise onboard? I'm thinking of a B2B 4day3day on the Dream Feb 2011 or 7 dayE Jan2011. The 7day is cheaper but I want to see the Dream. Tough decision:)

So you guys that are driving - how long of drive do you have?

We're driving down the day before the cruise. Nine hours according to Google Maps. With frequent bathroom breaks for pregnant me and the three-year-old factored in, it'll probably take around 11 hours (but I hope not). We'll probably leave home at around 4-5 am to beat some of the I-95 traffic out of NC. We can't check in to the hotel until 4!

My hope is that DS will sleep through the dark and that we'll only need to entertain him from breakfast to arrival.

It'd have to be a damn good deal. After July I'll have an infant and probably won't want to deal with the hassle of toting all that gear. Otherwise we'll need to wait until we know what kind of personality this kid'll have. (DS is not a patient traveler - he would have been a terror on board between ages 1 and 3.)

We're thinking about it. We want to do an early Dec cruise to see the Wonder all decorated for the holidays.

We are hoping for warm weather to swim. My DD will be disappointed if its cold, but will swim not matter what. She loves the Mickey slide.

Where are you staying the night before? We are doing MK on Saturday, but staying at the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista.

Did you do your GAD volunteer activity yet? We are doing ours on Saturday!

We are aleady booked for a 7-night cruise on the Magic for October. I would really like to book the Dream for 2011, but I'm not sure if I can swing the deposit while we're onboard. I might have to check though ;)

Ok, I'm so excited right now and I have to share with people can can understand my Disney excitement.

I just signed up for the Disney Give a Day, Get a Day program - my DD's and I are going to volunteer this Saturday at a local mission shelter helping to pack relief packages. Since my DH can't join us, we made a fleece blanket to donate in his name to the Project Linus in our area. We had a blast shopping for the fabric and making the blanket together.

Each of us will receive a certificate for one-day admission that we will upgrade to AP's. We will save about $80.00 on each AP - :cool1:

Is anyone else doing the GAD program?

Tammy

On my last email I noted 3 families that I hadn't heard back from - just so you know JWORKUL and DUNBARFAMILY have since responded to me and are still participating in our exchange. I still haven't confirmed with the other family, SNS4063, so stayed tuned!!

Tammy,
We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside and will be doing MK on Saturday too. WDW is having a special 25%, 30%, 35% off rooms. Yes, we did our GAD this week. We made no-sew blankets for an organization that donates them to children in hospitals - it was a lot of fun and are planning on doing more without the GAD. It was a great incentive for Disney to get people involved. What volunteer activity are you planning?

Ann,

We did one blanket for the Linus Project as well - what a great service, I want to do more for them as well. My DD's and I are volunteering on Saturday with a local rescue mission to help pack relief packages, which I assume might be going to the earthquake relief. This is such a great program - I really wanted to get my kids involved with volunteering anyway.

Its a 21+ hour drive for us depending on how many stops we make. We've made the drive to Orlando straight through twice so far. We dont plan on this being a straight through drive this time as long as I can get the extra day off work. We want to make sure we are well rested before we get on the ship

Have those of you who are flying bought your tickets yet? Prices are still high and I'm waiting another week or two unless I see a special.

Yes! I signed up on January 1. They keep rescheduling my group. I'm supposed to be preparing a meal at Ronald McDonald House and as of right now that's set for next Monday.

DH was supposed to get info about a Habitat for Humanity project that was this past weekend, but they never sent him any information so I'll have to find him something else. He's mostly deaf, so he wouldn't be any good doing something that requires a lot of conversation.

Ok, I thought that the GAD was giving a day to WDW and you would get one in return. I didn't know that we could volunteer in our very own community!!! So I did some researching and now we are volunteering this Saturday at our local park for 5 hrs and instead of coming straight home for the cruise we now get to go to WDW!!!! :yay: We have never been to WDW and I think I'll keep this a secret and surprise the kids. They are going to love it!! Thanks Tammy for posting that...I would have never known :)

Wow :scared1: I can't imagine being in the car for that long. I think my DH would kill me til get got there - I'm a very good backseat driver in the front :)

We fly Southwest and I purchased my tickets back in November. The prices have been going up, coming down and then going up more. It makes no sense and drives me crazy  I keep checking daily though, just in case I can get a better deal.
