Feb. 26, 2012 Mexican Riviera

I talked to DH about it all and we've decided to keep with our original plans. We'll be doing Las Caletas in PV. I can't imagine that it wouldn't be fine. And we're on a DCL excursion, so if DCL gets any hint that it might not be safe they'll cancel it.

I did mention to DH that I'd prefer he didn't wander around the port alone. He did that last year after our tour. He also did a day in Cabo last year w/o us. We all went on an excursion together one day and the other day he went in alone. I told him that I'd feel fine doing that again this year in Cabo, but in PV I'd rather he just did the excursion with us and nothing else.

I think it should all be :thumbsup2

I am getting so excited :yay:. We fly down two weeks from today :yay:!

The lounge is on deck 3 off of the atrium and down a hall (I think, I am trying to remember). The drink station is up on the deck with the pools. So I'd say both are centrally located even though they aren't near each other. Let's do the lounge, then if it's hot we can get cool and if it's cold we can get warm.

Meet up at 3pm after embarkation! In the Promenade Lounge on deck 3.

Will plan on meeting at 3 in the lounge. My granddaughters both turn 10 this year and neither is shy so they will be more than happy to lead the way to the kids club fun:wave2:.
They will both have school contracts as they are missing a week of school but they are conscientous students and it will give them something extra to do on the sea days.
Two weeks away and they have packed and repacked a couple times and Katie has our whole FE group organized and ready for delivery!

We will be joining the rest of you, and are very excited to experience our first Disney Cruise! Our family consists of me, DW, DD(9), DD(7), and DD(5). DW and myself have been cruising before, but this is our first time with the kiddos.

A little nervous/anxious/cautious with DD(7) as she has Down syndrome, diabetes, and celiac disease. But, Disney Cruise special services has been AWESOME so far in answering our questions about the kids club, diet, meals, etc.

Still trying to decide on which excursions we'll try out (on a budget). Thanks for your tips so far, it's great to help each other out in planning ahead.

:welcome: :goodvibes

The CMs are all amazing and I am positive you're kids will have a magical time. I don't know about the dietary constraints, but I know that some friends of ours have done Disney with their daughter who has Down Syndrome and they said it was perfect.

Looking forward to meeting you all pixiedust:

My daughter has dairy and gluten allergies, and all of my disney dining experiences so far have been great, so I expect nothing less from the cruise.

We will be at the meet in the lounge, cant wait to meet everyone. I hope my daughter will find a friend.:goodvibes

It seems that a majority of you have cruised before. This being our first, I have no idea what to do about sea sickness meds for us and the kids.

I have been doing a lot of research and have left a message with the kids' pediatrician to find out what they recommend.

I was thinking of dramamine for the kids at bedtime starting the night before we cruise.

For me and DH, Bonine Less Drowsy since you only have to take it once a day.

Still trying to figure out if we should take it in the morning and be drowsy all day or at night before bed. But we plan on drinking and I am nervous about drinking and then taking it right before bed.

What did you do/will you do for your kids? And for yourselves?

I know there are many threads on the topic, but I figured since we all have kids around the same ages it would be best to ask you all!!

thanks in advance :goodvibes

I am prone to sea sickness, so I always take meclizine. I take it the morning we sail, then every 12 hours after, and even continue taking it for about 5-7 days after we get off the ship. I always bring children's dramamine just in case my daughter needs it, but so far she has never needed it.:woohoo:

our daughter has a gluten intolerance as well and from what I hear the GF menu is pretty good. I have already requested the menu for her. I encourage you to do the same so the kitchen is prepared. I heard that the mickey bars are already GF! Don't quote me on that though!!

It is pretty cold right now for us SoCal folk so I feel bad for those leaving on the cruise right now. Hopefully we will have nicer weather when it is our turn....in 2 weeks!!!!

I let me travel agent know about my dd allergies and also called dcl to let them know. What do you mean you already requested the menu for her?

Yes, I would guess that the mickey bars are GF, unfortunately for my daughter, she also has a dairy allergy!:sad1:

I am bringing her gluten ease pills with us, which helps break down the foods she cant digest on her own. That way if she wants to eat something special one or two nights, she can.

My TA said she called and placed my request for a GF menu on our reservation, or at least that was the impression I got?

We are new to the whole GF thing so I am still learning what is GF and what is not. I used to just think that as long as there is no wheat there would be no gluten, but I have been surprised at a few things.

That is great that you will be able to use the gluten ease pills to help your daughter have some special treats! I hope she really enjoys herself :)

We have pre paid our gratuities already. I know that room service is not included. Do people tip a few bucks upon delivery or for entire cruise at the end. Well probably be getting breakfast every day, were the kind that sleep in. A few random questions. How much are the yummy sounding alcoholic drinks served at dinner? what kind of shops are on the ship? What kind of strollers does the wonder have? I cant believe its two Weeks away.

One tips for room service each delivery. :thumbsup2

Not sure how much the drinks are, but on the FAQ list there is a drink menu that should give you an idea.

There are two main shops on the ship. From disneycruise.com

Mickey's Mates
Mickey's Mates, located on 4, Midship of the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder, contains a galleon's-worth of Disney character merchandise, special edition pins, plush toys, towels, swimwear, t-shirts and more.
Treasure Ketch
Treasure Ketch on Deck 4, Midship on the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder presents a trove of tax-free watches, glittering jewelry, loose gemstones and collectibles. Find Disney Cruise Line logo clothing, chic European fragrances and tropical fashions while you explore this sensational shop.

And there is also the Radar Trap. Radar Trap
Radar Trap is located on Deck 3, Forward along Route 66, the entertainment district on the Disney Wonder. It supplies a fine selection of luxury goods, including, premium cigars and upscale liquors—all tax- and duty-free. Please note that purchased liquor cannot be consumed on board; it will be delivered to your stateroom on the last night of the cruise.

Don't know about the stroller.

Enjoy! pixiedust:

Hi everyone! Just got back from a trip to Disneyland last week. Was great! We had over 2 feet of snow here and it was in the upper 70s in CA. Hard to come home. =) Although, it wasn't too bad knowing we were leaving in another 2 weeks for the cruise! We would love to do the meet at 3p too! We have a DD 5 1/2 and then a DS who just turned 3. So, sounds like a lot of people with similar aged kids.

This is our 6th Disney cruise. We love them! The kids have a great time as do we. My kids can be really shy at first. So, would love for them to meet friends to be with in the class. We've never had an issue with sea sickness. Although, we did all get the roto virus on the transatlantic. I think it was because DS was only 1 and found out other children in Flounders got it too. Anyways, that's the only cruise where we've gotten sick. I'm vigilant about washing hands constantly. So, hoping this cruise is another great one!

Finishing up the FE's and going to start pulling clothes this weekend. Sure can't wait to meet you all and have a great trip!!

Wow, we sure all do have kids in similar age groups! Glad you had fun at Disneyland, you had awesome weather. It is rainy and colder this week. Hoping the weather will improve for us for next weekend!!

Looking forward to meet everyone as well.

I can't believe it has taken me so long to discover it!

I'm sad to have missed the FE excitement, but looking forward to meeting everyone very soon!

We are traveling with DS(8) and DD (6). It is our first DCL cruise but anything Disney gets me excited. LOL! Im hoping after this DS cruise it will turn me into career DCL cruisers like some if you! :)

By chance is anyone doing DL before the cruise?
