Feb 2013 car rental

I booked a car for Presient's week and have never used this code before. However, I read a lot about people using this code on here and no one seemed to have a problem.

Just to be safe, I went to KLM website and signed up and now have a "member number," in case anyone asks.

I can't figure out where I got the coupon code I used. I thought I got it on this website somewhere, but I can't find it and it's not printed on my confirmation. I will continue to look around and see if I can find it. It was a $20 off coupon.

Edit: I found the coupon code (NWEBCPN027). It was on "flyertalk" website and it's $20 off "apology" coupon with no expiration. I guess I will see if it works. If it doesn't, I'm still happy with $248 for an SUV for the week.

Thanks, Bastraker! I made the reservation using the KLM discount code and found a $20 coupon on Retailmenot website but when I entered it, it took $30 off. I reserved a midsize so if I remember right, I should be able to bypass the counter and kiosk at RSW if I remember right and just head to the Emerald Aisle. This will save me about $260.00 on my rental.

That's awesome! Your welcome!

Just got an email from Dollar that they have some specials. Go under the specials tab and there are good offers for Standard cars OR 15% off a midsize SUV. I was hoping we'd qualify for the standard but it has to be before Feb 28th and we don't drop the car off until March 3rd. Hopefully it helps someone:)

Hi! I am trying to get National from the Dolphin for Presidents week but I can't seem to get less than 600 for a minivan. I tried the KLM code but it didn't take much off. Is it best from the airport? Thanks!

You are look too early. Wait until 7-10 days before your trip to get the best rate. that is when they release the last minute rental deals. Sometime the rental at MCO are much less than on site rentals.

I can't believe how high the rates are for the first week of February!

Last year, we went the last week of January and paid under $75 for a week for a Jetta.

Guess I'll just keep looking

If anyone is picking up their vehicle before Feb. 4, I got a weekly rental with Budget using the last minute code > http://www.rentalcodes.com/last_minute.html for $79/week. Total with all fees and taxes was $155. The larger vehicles are discounted quite a bit too. Always a good idea to check those last minute discounts before you leave I guess.

If anyone is hesitant to rent through carrentalsavers.com, I booked a minivan for 9 days for $265 total from Enterprise through them. I called the airport location (Tampa) and confirmed the reservation and the rate. Its all good, no problems.

It's nice to see some people are starting to see price drops and good deals. I have gone to Disney and rented a vehicle 3 times in the last year and always find the best price at 6 weeks out, this time included. We're at 250 for a fullsize with Enterprise for 9.5 days. However that won't stop me from checking as we get closer to the trip. I'm still hoping to shave a little off that total:)

thank you! :thumbsup2

I still haven't booked anything because of how high the rates are. Still trying to figure out if we truly need the rental. :scratchin

Rates just aren't moving yet for Feb. My 2/2 - 2/10 rental dates are still high for a minivan. My best deal is still the KLM code/$30 National coupon at $308 all in. I tried a $16 bid tonight on priceline and got an interesting response. "If you are willing to raise your price, we can offer you a one-time opportunity to try the same Minivan request again right now." I put in $17 and got a message "Please enter an offer price greater than $19 to bid again for this one-time opportunity". $20 is the minimum I could bid with this (tried $19). $20 would bring my total to about $251 for the 8 days. I'm not ready to lock in at that rate yet, so I passed. It's possible that 17, 18 or 19 would get it done too if it was my initial bid, so I'll wait and try to rebid it tomorrow night.

With my rental I noticed that it only does anything good when it's from and to the airport.

Well, National's coupon ND9334SND is "live" again (just got an email), but it's not valid for my particular rental. Not 10th-20th MCO to MCO, and not 10th-18th MCO to Dolphin.

I tell you, I'm never traveling near President's Day again. The holiday isn't even the reason we're traveling then...it was to match up with plans that relatives had on the 7th, and we decided to stick around. Darn darn darn.

I'm still OK with my 10th-18th MCO to Dolphin, using Alaska's FF ID. I just want it to be LOWER.

I will second this. We have traveled President's day weekend for the last 4 years & I have always gotten my best rate last minute. I am holding out hope again.

I'm hoping too! Usually prices start dropping about 2 weeks out on my WDW trips. This time they are stuck!

We are picking up from Tampa on Sat. I booked about a month ago. And those were my best prices. I keep checking, but have a full size with a Costco discount for 2 weeks, at just under $300. Today, they are over $700 at many of the sites. I am not hopeful that I will get a better price.

When I started looking in Oct, the prices were over $800. I am happy with my price. But I also, will be checking until the last minute.

Good to know. My problem is that we're leaving on the 5th and will be on a cruise ship on the 7th, so my prime obsessive-rate-checking days are away from home. And here I thought I would be able to leave my computer at home. :rotfl:

I just wish there were *some* coupon that would actually work with my rental period.

Except for that dip at the 6 week out mark, I haven't even seen the 200's again. Lowest has been just under $400, all the way up to $900. I really think it's picking up before the end of Presidents Week that's hurting me.
People in the March, April and May threads are getting better deals than us poor February folks.:rolleyes2
I guess I should be happy with the $250. I won't stop looking until the day before we leave though.
I'd even be tempted to use Priceline or Hotwire but I am worried about getting something off airport or with a questionable company. Do they at least let you know if the location is in the airport before you lock in a bid?

So in doing some searching I came across some low rates for Sixt. It's not onsite but there is a shuttle. A van for our dates is coming in at 270. We don't need a van, and like I mentioned earlier I don't want to use anything offsite but the price is very good compared to other van rentals so I thought I'd mention it.

You have to go on their site and go under their specials tab. I followed the one for the Elantra for 20.99 a day (which is sold out of course) but it offered me the van for not too much more.

Thank you so much. I'm happy with $136 for an 8 day (Sun-Sun) mid siize rental!
