Feb 2009 code watch

Can someone explain this codes thing to me? I'm going to Disney Feb 4-8, I already booked the room but haven't booked the meal plan or the park tickets yet. Is there some way I can get a discount on either of these 2 things with a code? Thanks for your help!

yeah I was just going to ask that question too...these codes...can anyone use them??? they arent subject to a persons name or address???

I believe that there are discounts associated with specific people, but Disney sometimes releases special "deals" as incentives to fill the parks. We've never been fortunate enough to get either, but people on the boards have mentioned that in the past there have been things like "free park hopper" and "free water parks & more" options added in February.

I also think that you can "upgrade" your package even if you've already purchased at a higher cost in order to take advantage of discounts, but sometimes this means canceling an existing reservation and re-booking it.

There may be others here who can explain it better, but I think this is the general idea.

Sometimes the "codes" will come out in Mouse Savers or All Ears...for a particular type of discount...Example: discount on the room...for certain dates and certain resorts...maybe they will use the letters DRT for that discount....or for the Magic Your Way with tickets and Dining...That is why, after talking to the CM when I made our reservations for three rooms...I decided to just make it for the rooms...and "wait" and "watch" if there are any discounted codes out pertaining the the rest of it...I have up until about a week before our arrival to make any changes. (this was what I was told)

If I made the reservations for everything now...(I'd have to pay the whole thing off 45 days before my arrival...which would make it hard to make the changes...and if I added insurance on top of that...I wouldn't get that part back)...I am comfortable with what I just did for now.

do you have to wait if the codes come out say in late october? wouldn't it be better to rebook if needed asap so the block for that promo doesn't fill and be out too?

does the insurance get put on just rooms automatically? or only to packages....added on dinning or park tickets?

BTW can anyone help me with the ticker thing? mine worked and now it doesn't??????

Now I'm wondering if I goof'ed up by booking a package.
Can codes be applied to packages?
I booked Magic your way w/hopping.

Hello,
Just stopping by to say hi...Im new to the boards as this is the first time Ive actually planned anything. Been to WDW a few other times but never planned... just kinda wandered around :confused3
This time we are taking DS and DD (for her 5th birthday) so this time Im actually booking things in advance
I noticed on another board a few of you going the same time as us so I thought I would drop by!
oh yeah, quick question...has anyone used the stroller swap before and what did you think about it?

There are codes for both packages and room only, you just have to keep your eyes open for them.
Whether there will be package codes for your dates? :confused3

We're hoping to go next fall, but if wdw were to offer some really great discount for Feb., I'd prefer to go then.

Watching with eveyone else!

My husband and I are also going to WDW Feb. 6 - 13, taking our DS, DIL & 3 grandchildren - codes, time and money saving tips are welcome. Staying at CBR. Will need to buy diapers for 8 month old- any suggestions best place.

allearsnet is a great site. also, consider buying the unofficial guide for 2009. they are my main 2 sources of info, besides the DIS, of course. ;)

Me too! And throw in Mousesavers and Steve Soares WDW entertainment site (has weekly entertanment guides) and that's my complete planning arsenal! LOL

Should these codes come out soon???:surfweb:

Who knows, but I have booked Feb. codes in October twice now (had to cancel the second time.)
Once was Kid's play free (haven't seen that promotion in years), once was very cheap room only. I think last year they did upgrade to parkhopper and water parks for free. (Get both for the price of a basic ticket.)

Mousesavers.com has the historical discounts somewhere on their site.

Last year, I remember the whole free waterparks and hopper thing but I have no idea when it came out.

It seems like there are a lot of us traveling at this time. Has anyone else been before during this time? What are the crowds/weather like?

Thanks! :goodvibes

We were there the first week of Feb. in '04. The weather was wonderful, low 80s and very mild. The day after we left, it went down to the 50s with lows at night in the high 30s. So it really can vary.

I prefer packing for Sept., as then you just needs shorts and short sleeves.
Feb. you need shorts AND parkas to cover all possibilities! :lmao:

No, seriously, just keep an eye on the long term forecast and go with that.

ETA: Forgot to say, crowds were very low also. As long as you go before mid-month.

I'm in too! I know it's a long shot but we are booked for SSR for Sun-Thur of President's week and I would like to extend our trip on either side of the dates so here's hoping for some pixie dust!

Count me in!

Going the 2nd through the 11th, staying at PORS, hopefully!

Planning on booking as a AAA discount room only, then adjusting depending upon what the codes come out looking like.

For those curious about last years: we went in Janurary (9th through 17th) and had a discount on our room, as well as the WPFM and PH for free.

I think total savings for us was 400, with the WPFM being a bonus, because we didn't really want that.

Here's looking to october!

-Mike
