Feb 20, 2011 - Presidents' Week - Mexican Riviera

Minnie_Meese:

I think it is you who is organizing the FE, etc. (although I am going totally from memory, so forgive me if I am wrong). I have been on the boards all along, but do not think I ever gave you our info for the DIS-ers who are cruising. Not for the FE, just the "who's cruising" list.

People cruising: me (Jennifer), DH (Mark), DSs Alex (16), Ben (14), Luke (3 1/2, will be 4 in April).

Hometown: near Duluth, MN (where we have MOUNTAINS of snow and are totally ready for this cruise!!!)

Times on DCL: 4 for all of us, although the little guy was in utero our first cruise; this is our second time on the Wonder.

I was also wondering if I need to register my 15 year old DD. I just wanted to say thanks to all other posters and hope to meet some of you on this cruise. I did not find the board untill it was to late to join the FE exchange but we will participate next cruise for sure!

I read a post that commented about Tea with Alice. It stated that on 7 night cruises you don't have to go to guest services to get tickets, that you are automatically assigned a time. Does anyone have any experience with this? It would be nice to not have to rush to get them.

Started pulling out the summer clothes today...getting excited!!!

It is my understanding that the Disney Friends Tea Party (no longer called the Tea with Alice) requires you to stand in line to get a ticket as soon as you board the ship. People who have posted trip reports have said that there was only room for 60 or so people. If you take away the adults (who are taking pics rather than posing with characters), it sounds like there were only 20 or so kids. A couple of people emphasized that there was no tea but that apple juice and cookies were served to everyone.

There is also a character breakfast which everyone can participate in and you will be assigned a day/time for that.

Also, keep watching the weather, especially if you are going to spend days before or after in LA. It is now in the low 70s/high 60s and should drop to the mid 60s with rain predicted for next weekend. I realize this will be a nice break from those of you in the snow but it isn't exactly swimsuit and beach weather in LA.

Thanks Jennifer - I will add your info to the first post. It's nice to know a little about all of the Dis families traveling on the cruise so people can get to know each other and connect ahead of time or plan to meet early in the cruise.

Don't want to give you any more work or anything- but we aren't on the list on the first page- not sure if we need to be- I know you added us to the FE list late (and we are so excited- still trying to figure out a teen boy gift though!)

Anyway, if you have time and are editing- we are bayportkat- myself, dh, ds8, dd6 and we are doing the FE!!

Thanks again for all of your hard work to organize everything for this cruise!

bayportkat - I have a ds8 and dd6 as well! I've been looking for someone with that same magical combination. :rotfl:

Kathryn - I'll add you to the first page - we were mostly using that so people could get to know everyone. It doesn't impact the FE.

I agree with you - teen boys are tough.

Where is your room on the boat? We are on deck 2. I know there are also a few other kids near us- I think 1 other 8 year old boy and 3 6 year old girls if I remember correctly from Elaine's deck chart she sent for FE. Will you be at the meet the first day?

We're on Deck 7. We aren't doing the FE so are not on the chart. I think we're pretty close to silence though. And yes, we are planning on being at the dis meet that first day. :)

Just labeled all the kid's FE gifts!! Well, except the "teen" boys that I still have to find! I will work on the adults tonight and tomorrow and hopefully be done by next weekend with everything! Now, I just have to keep praying for good weather so we actually can get to CA!!

Saw lots of us on deck 7. I'm so hoping my kids make lots of new friends for thew cruise! :)

I have all my gifts assembled, but no tags yet. Plus, I need to "wrap" the adult gifts. Anyways, that is on my list for next weekend, as well as packing. We are leaving early Friday to drive down and are hitting the parks on Fri/Sat before the cruise. :) I can't believe only 2 weeks left! Too exciting.

Hi bayportkat,
We are also on Deck 2 and have a DD who is 6 years old. It will be nice having kids her age on our Deck. Do we know where we our meeting on the first day? Can't believe it's just two weeks away. So much to do, but I can't wait.

Hi Tad - I don't have you on my FE list and you need to be or the 20 participating families will not know that you are participating or where to find your family. We finalized the list last month but have had a few late additions. I would hate to see your daughter disappointed. I can add you with the understanding that some families have finished their FE gifts so you may not get something from every family. A lot of people have made things for each individual and others are or have already purchased things. At a minimum I need your stateroom number to add you to the list.

Thanks

Elaine

Elaine,
This is our first Disney cruise and Only cam upon the fish extenders program recently. I would absolutely love to participate, I do know it's late, but I know Aria (my daughter) would love it.
We are in cabin 1040

I must say that I am new at this so please forgive me for not being up with all the acronyms.
please tell me what DS and DD and DH etc mean.
I mean I get the S=Son D=Daughter etc, but what does the D stand for before that. Ok now that that's out of the way.

Tad (adult) and my Daughter is Aria and she is 5.5 years old, first Disney cruise. In state room 1040. Grandma and Grandpa are also coming (my parents) and staying in an adjacent stateroom

Do we know where we our meeting on the first day? Can't believe it's just two weeks away. So much to do, but I can't wait.

Let's meet at 3 pm in the Promenade Lounge. I hope all of the DISers on the cruise can be there to meet each other in person. The lounge is on deck 3 right next to the internet cafe - you pass it on your way to Parrot Cay. Pretty much everyone should be on board by then and if the weather is less than ideal people won't freeze. I'll have extra copies of the FE list and Deck Plan ready to make any last minute changes, and some extra green Mickey heads. If anyone doing FEs doesn't make it to the meet please stop by my room (7040 and 7042) and pick up an updated list or leave me a note on the white board on my door. I'll stay in the lounge until at least 3:30 and will try to keep track of who doesn't show up but I can't guarantee.

Really hard to believe it is only 2 weeks away. We leave in 9 days. All my FE gifts are made, wrapped and labeled and my granddaughter's Tinkerbell dress is finally finished (I can't believe I let her talk me into making this). Time to think about packing - and I'm working out of town this week - yikes.

Keeping my fingers crossed for no storms the week before the cruise so everyone's travels are on time.

Elaine

Hi Tad - when I saw your note (and your post count) I figured you were pretty new. A few people contacted me and wanted to know if you were joining us. I'm glad you posted so I know for sure. I know some people are bringing extras and were planning to have something for your daughter. I'll add you to the list. You probably won't get something from everyone but I'm sure your daughter will be happy with her surprises. I am going to PM you my email address. If you can email me I will send you the full FE list in Excel and PDF format. If you don't have a fancy fish extender you can use something like a small draw string laundry bag or anything with a pouch. Attach it to the metal "fish" next to your cabin door.

I hope you will join us at 3 pm the day we board. Looking forward to meeting you and your daughter.

Elaine

Thanks again. I have sent you an Email and have asked a number of questions.
looking forward to this get away.

I'm a bit panicky because I am going to be out of town the week before the cruise. I'm thinking I may do the packing for the cruise next weekend so I don't have to stress about it. The whole thought of getting home Thursday evening after 4 days away and then doing loads and loads of laundry and packing on Friday doesn't sound like a lot of fun.

Hi!! We're on the March 13th sailing, just wondering if any of you have booked the WildlifeConnections tour in Puerto Vallarta for whale watching/dolphin swimming? I've booked it but am looking for some reviews...would love to hear what y'all are doing...thanks and everyone have a wonderful sailing!!
