Feb 20, 2011 - Presidents' Week - Mexican Riviera

Where can you even FIND info about the MR ports and itineraries on your own (not through DCL)?

Hi Jennifer,

Here's the link to the Mazatlan Frank thread:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2418722

And here's the link to El Cid:

http://www.elcid.com/el_moro_beach/?src=elmoro_ppc_google_us_brand3

El Cid is a timeshare, which I'm a little worried about, but the resort has received some good reviews.

I had been pretty committed to only doing Disney excursions, but when I saw this resort, I had to check it out. I still haven't cancelled my Disney reservation for the "tall beach hotel" as we've been calling it.

Is anybody else doing the "All Inclusive Beach Resort" excursion in Mazatlan offered through DCL? We (myself, Mom & ds) are booked-- at $119 each for a day at the beach! I know it sounds crazy-- but from everything I have read about Mexico, I think we are better off doing a DCL beach excursion than trying to venture out on our own! Actually, at this point (as I look out my window at the 2' + of snow covering my yard... I'd pay double that to go RIGHT NOW!!!:thumbsup2

Anybody else joining us?

That's the port adventure I'm currently signed up for. I think it's the RIU Emerald Bay Resort: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...s-Riu_Emerald_Bay-Mazatlan_Pacific_Coast.html.

After all my research, it is highly likely we'll just go there because I want to be guaranteed that everything will go well. It must be magical!! ;)

I hope you are right-- RIU Emerald Bay Resort looks wonderful! I agree-- although it is high priced-- peace of mind on a fun filled & safe day makes it well worth it!

28 days can not pass quick enough!!! :cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

This was the only excursion in this port I considered. However, we just decided to stay on the boat I think. We are doing the similar one in PV which is cheaper.

But... Does the one in PV include UNLIMITED MOJITOS????? :)

:tongue::tongue::tongue:

I wanted to do one of the all inclusive excursions, but with a pregnant wife and a FIL who cannot drink due to the meds he is on, it just was not worth it for us. I am thinking if I do anything in Mazatlan, it will be the Stone Island route.

We are doing the shore excursion with the Tequila tasting in PV though :cool1:

Cannot wait until this trip... it is sad, I downloaded the Disneyland Maps application to my iPad with the wait times, and already figuring out my plan of attack. DW and I will have 1.5 days in DL, and MIL and FIL will have 1 day. Lot to squeeze in, just glad the parks are open from 7am to midnight on Saturday :)

We will be in DL from the 17th- 20th also-- Staying at Grand Californian for the 1st time--- I am just SOOOOO EXCITED!!!! :yay::yay::yay: <------ That is me--Bad knee & all!!! :)

I should download that app on my iPad, but I really don't want to carry it in the park all day!

We'll be staying across the street from DL from the 17th to the 20th. We'll keep our eyes out for someone with a bad knee. I think we've decided to do 2 days at DL on Thurs and Friday and do something else on Saturday to avoid the crowds and we have 2 adult children with us who want to see friends in LA on Saturday.

Chris - we are on the PV excursion with the tequila tasting too.

In Mazatlan I arranged for a tour for just my family. We really enjoy history and learning about cultures so this seemed like a great opportunity for us to do as a family.

Has anyone else noticed that all the excursions in Mazatlan have been grayed out on DCL's website?

I was logged into my reservation looking at shore excursions this afternoon and it said that everything in Mazatlan was not available for booking - it made it look like everything was totally booked which made no sense because there were plenty of openings in the other 2 posts. Not sure what it means.

Someone just posted in the main forum that they spoke to DCL and was told that the Mazatlan stop for January and Feb. cruises was cancelled due to the "changing environment" there. They are now making two stops in Cabo.

They also posted the following itinerary:

Day 1-at sea
Day 2-at sea
Day 3-Cabo
Day 4-Puerta Vallarta
Day 5- at sea
Day 6-Cabo
Day 7-at sea

Totally not sure how I feel about the change. I do appreciate the two stops in Cabo, but now I know I will have to find someting to do there besides the Dolphins. ;)

I logged into my reservation on the Disney Website and the itinerary now shows
Sunday - Leave LA
Monday - at sea
Tuesday - at sea
Wednesday - Puerta Vallarta
Thursday - Cabo
Friday - Cabo
Saturday - at sea
Sunday - Arrive LA

We were looking forward to seeing 3 different places but I certainly want to be safe

I just logged in to double check too! I wonder when the excursions will open up for Thursday?

Dishy... I am staying at DCL too, First time using my DVC points there, looking forward to my two bedroom.:thumbsup2
I am also hoping by then to have my Verizon iPhone, so I will get the app for it.

Kind of sad about Mazatlan, but I know DCL does not want another headline of people being attacked (like the tour group in Nassau was).

I can't find it on the DCL website.... What time are we scheduled to arrive and depart on the Cabo days? :confused3 We booked Palo for dinner, assuming it would be a day at sea.
