Several resort properties, specifically Swan and Dolphin have much less availablity than I've typically found. Convention? Other special event? Thanks for any insight

Well, Canadian universities have their reading weeks all throughout February. Mine is Feb 13-17, but people will leave the Friday/Saturday/Sunday before that. Others have theirs next week and others are the week of the 20th. So lots of Canadians down in FL!!

Isn't there some dance competition thing going on? I think the only weekend in February that is not having a competition is the following weekend. I could be wrong though.

I doubt it's Valentine's Day. Who travels for that? At S&D there is probably a convention. There's a cheerleading competition over the weekend and they'll probably stay at the All Stars. I got stuck paying 20 bucks extra for a preferred room at Pop Century since all the other values were booked up and Pop only had preferred rooms available. It's only 20 bucks, but I feel ripped off! I have no need for a preferred room.

I have to say I agree with another poster. It may have to do with Valentines. A lot of people have to do "special" stuff like that on the weekends because they can't take off from work.

I think there are National Dance Team and National Cheerleader Competions. I'll ask my DD who is a CM at MGM...
