Fearing a Sci Fi Dinner!

I wish I had known they had burgers. We went to Sci Fi and the food just was not good at all. The atmosphere was....interesting, and I can totally see how kids would probably enjoy it, but I was not impressed.

Oh my gosh, I want a milshake so bad right now!

... three more weeks... /sigh

Thanks for the reviews tho, we have a PS to go there for lunch, and I'm looking forward to it! :earsboy:

My DD is dying to eat here so based on so many reviews, we'll try lunch on our next trip. Anyone know the hours for lunch? Is it up till 4:00p? Going November 26.

We ate there for Dinner Feb 7. I had a Pasta dish with Shrimp that was great! There were at least 8 shrimp on it and they were HUGH, I was really pleased.

It's all a matter of personal taste. We ate dinner there several years ago and I didn't care for it. The desserts looked tasty but that was about it. As are all Disney restaurants, it was over priced. All you can do is try it for yourself and if you don't like it, lesson learned. Enjoy your trip. :)

I love Sci-fi. The food isn't fabulous, but it's better than any fast food restaurant. The atmosphere is quite entertaining. We took my 70yo mom there on her very first trip to WDW. She still talks about how great it was--it was her favorite spot, bar none.

I have had a problem ordering in restaurants at WDW. If we get something we really don't like, they have always tried to make it better, even if it meant "making it up." (My DS once got a whole plate of food he could not chew--the server asked what he could eat and promptly retreived a most eclectic meal from the kitchen which my Ds wolfed down.) Keep your Pss and have a good time.

I would say it is JUST OKAY. Do it once...spend your 75 bucks ............and then eat somewhere else next time. LOL No it isn't that bad...but if you get an appetizer...the glowing drinks for kids then the price will be up there. I think Prime TTIme was better food. I felt the cars were uncomfortable........not much room for your food....very dark. It is just not our cup of tea. I agree.....they need to add some new eating places. We went there back in 1992 it was just opened....wasn't that impressed then.

I have to agree with the posters who enjoyed their meals here. We, too, had heard some bad reviews before our last trip. The girls really wanted to try it, so we decided to go for it. So glad we did...it was one of their favorite meals throughout the entire trip. In fact, they are still talking about some of those wacky movie clips!

The guide books promise that any sit down WDW restaurant will try to serve you anything within reason so I wouldn't worry about it. The Sci-Fi is great fun and is well worth the visit. When's the last time you had a burger and fries at the drive-in theater? When might you get another chance? If you want gourmet food, go somewhere else. If you want a fun time that you'll all always remember, go to the Sci-Fi. I had a barbeque pork sandwich the last time I was there and it was good. My grandkids love it there and it is probably the only time in their lives they'll get to watch movies the way Grandma and Grandpa did in their heyday. Plus, I don't remember the food in our old drive-in having a five star rating so it's been well-themed. Have fun!

We ate there last October. The restaurant was 75 percent EMPTY -- and they crammed us into the back of a car with three other strangers in it at the back of the theater near the kitchen. We were too shocked to ask for another table (and didn't want to seem rude to the other people in the car) and had NO privacy even to talk. The woman in front of me had long hair and kept swinging it around. Won't go back because of this.

On the upside, we stuck to the basics (burger, fries, milkshake) and it was OK. Not great, but OK.

We didn't enjoy our dinner there either. My brother the chef is very picky when we go out to eat - he did not enjoy his meal. He had the ribs. It's not so much that he can do it better - just that he knows how it should be done. Out of our whole trip, that rated as his worst meal. The best - Chef Mickey's! He thought all the food at the buffet was good, and lucky for us we got the best waiter in the entire world.

I also recommend Prime Time - we have never had a bad experience there.

If you know Grandpa will eat a burger, then you should feel comfortable going. We might try it again someday without our picky person. I am curious about the milkshakes everyone is talking about........ ;)

Last time we were there, (in Dec), it just was not as enjoyable as past visits. For one thing the background soundtrack (coming from the speakers next to each car) was so loud! It did not help that I was sitting right next to it. I asked the waiter if our speaker could be turned down but he said that the volume was centrally controlled. It truly was giving me a headache.

I think our family has been 'Sci-Fi'd' out - we are going to find a new lunch place in MGM.

I agree with how tight the cars are. My three kids sat in the front row....my dh and me the one behind them...and then another couple behind us. I could hear every word they said....ESPECIALLY "Oh I don't feel very well" after she ate. LOL I just think it is not worth the money when there are far better experiences.......

Now someone mentioned about going for just dessert. The first time we went there years ago..WE JUST DID THAT........I swear the server WAS PEEVED. That didn't go over too well. Just my two cents.
