Fear the Walking Dead - anyone?

So far it doesn't look like they are staying at the house long enough to shower LOL, maybe on the boat. I really though Strand would have given him something to wear, since he is dressed to the nines. That was pretty awesome when Nick handed him the key he lifted!

Good episode last night, to bad it's the last one till sometime next year. I don't trust Strand. He seems to be the type that only uses people for his own good and when they are of no more help to him, he will leave them for the wolves (or walkers in this case). Very untrustworthy and conniving.

Was anyone else yelling at them to close the darn gates and doors and windows? Seriously? They know what is going on now, they know what they are up against, but still they leave everything swinging in the wind behind them. Doors at the make-shift hospital, the gate into Strands house, doors at his house, windows on the truck and car. Ugh, I was getting so frustrated watching that. Probably a bit more than I should have been! To top it off, I have no voice right now, so I couldn't even yell at the TV!

Can't believe that the army guy shot her!!! WHY! Does he blame her for bringing him to her father? I mean, I can understand him shooting Daniel, after what he did to him, but to shot her? Maybe he wanted to hurt Daniel and hurting his daughter was the only way he could do it? But I thought he really liked her, why would you do that to someone you liked and were falling for?

Seems she will be okay though. Of course, we all know that this is Travis's fault. Once again, playing the pacifist and spineless wonder. Thankfully, no one got killed this time (unlike last time). Lets hope this is the end of this with him and he will start acting like a survivor and not a doormat anymore. He finally took out a walker or 2 and his attack on Adam (???) was pretty unexpected.

Daniel is awesome!! Loved how casual he was when approaching the compound. Telling the guys to not waste their bullets on him. Was freaking last night thinking that Adam was going to kill him. Really hoping he sticks around for a long time. Such an asset to this group and he is a great actor also. Along with the kid playing Nick. I don't recall ever seeing him before, but he is doing such a good job in this role. BUT PLEASE TAKE A SHOWER AND CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES ALREADY. You are not Daryl and can not get away with the look like he can!

Shocked to see that the ex wife got bit, but amazed that Travis took the gun and did the job himself. Didn't expect her to be the first to go out of the group (Daniel's wife excluded, cause we all knew she wasn't going to make it!)

So, no more of this group till next summer, right? We will probably have to watch them all again in the spring time to get us back up to running speed.

Everyone ready for next Sunday? Yeah. What are we doing for a thread? Do we have the one from last season still or will there be a new one for this season?

I think he shot Ophelia to hurt Daniel. I think he knew killing her would be the ultimate pain for him. Almost like killing him would be too easy.

I kind of feel like letting all those walkers out of the stadium was not the best idea! LOL! I think they royally screwed up with that one. Yes it distracted the guards, but to what end? Now the city is overrun with walkers. I guess it was bound to happen.

I do not like Strand. It was hard to watch him stealing the jewelry off they guy who was STILL ALIVE WHILE THE WALKER WAS EATING HIS LEG! Then he would not kill him, he said something like, "you will be dead soon enough." Nice.

HIs house was amazing, I think i would be inclined to stay there and ride out the apocalypse. it will be interesting to see what happens when they get to the boat. Oh well, we'll have to wait until 2016.

This may have already been mentioned, but, just in case...

I watched "Talking Dead" last night after the finale.

One thing that the producer (I think that's who it was) who was on the show (along w/ the actor who plays Travis & Kim Dickens/Madison) said that he has found it interesting this season is how no one has said anything about or caught on to Madison's southern accent.

And, of course, everyone was like "Ooh!" And Chris Hardiwick said something like, "So, next season, we can expect her to say, 'Maybe we should go to Atlanta to see my brother.... Rick Grimes!'"

The producer did say we'd find out more about Madison's "dark" past next season.

Anyway, I was thinking about the finale last night, & it's interesting to me that practically all of their problems in the last hour were caused by Daniel letting the herd out of the arena. Liza (& presumably Chris) were going to evacuate w/ the hospital.

At what point do you stop trusting the government? Or how far do you trust the government & let them continue running things how they see fit? And, do you let them run things for the benefit of the "whole" even if it's detrimental to you or to your family?

The head military guy who Travis had problems w/ was rough & sarcastic - but, in the episode, he said he had to be that way to keep the younger guys attentive & on the jobs. And this proved to be true - because, as soon the head military guy went down, the rest of them deserted.

If Daniel had not kidnapped & tortured Ophelia's military boyfriend &/or then had not let the herd out of the arena, how would it have played differently?

DH & I were having to catch up on the last couple of episodes before the finale last night, &, as we were watching (I think the episode after the dog being eaten episode), I asked him, "So which group has it easier - Travis's group, at the front end, having to deal w/ both the unknown 'virus' & the government & martial law or Rick's group, after the fall of civilization, having to deal w/ the Walkers & bad guys - but having the knowledge of knowing how to survive & the freedom to do what's necessary?

They drove out of the neighborhood without telling anyone and giving them a chance to escape too. And then left the gate open, leaving all their neighbors at risk of being attacked when at least before they had some level of protection.

Then they go on to the hospital and lead thousands of walkers to that location, basically killing everyone at that compound (soldiers, doctors, nurses, patients, the people being held, etc).
All so that they could rescue two of their own and one random stranger (an action that eventually led to the death of one of their own anyway, who wouldn't be dead if they didn't unleash the walkers on them).

I don't know if it was supposed to be a social commentary on how focused & ingrained the idea of "every man for himself" already is.

One of the characters mentioned saying something to the neighbors once they found out the military was retreating, but then the other character said something like, "Well, that didn't help us when the soldiers came & got ours."

But, at that point, in the middle of the night, how would the neighbors really be able to effectively intervene in that type of situation?

And the way Daniel just let the herd out... they risked hundreds of lives for 3 lives.

From the beginning, there was NO WAY any of it could have been contained because no one would let the military do what needed to be done to try to contain it - like in the riots at the beginning.

And, if that was happening in LA, the same thing was happening all over the country & the rest of the world.

But you do wonder... When should you let the government/military do what they think is best w/o intervening & when you do say, "Enough. It's every man for himself!"? Do you let them continue to run things for the benefit of the whole even if it's detrimental for you &/or your family?

Daniel's wife was sick & injured. Do you let her stay in the contained area at the risk she might die & then infect others? Nick was a drug addict? Do you let him stay in the contained area at the risk he might go crazy & then risk other people's lives?

If you let anybody just come to the hospital/holding area to see loved ones, do you risk them going back & telling others what they've seen & causing a panic?

There's a gun control debate going on right now in the "Oregon shooting" thread. And one of the reasons people are for LESS gun control is for this reason - government takeover.

And, at what point does it become just about you & your family? Daniel lets out the herd. They don't warn any of their neighbors what's coming. They leave gates open. They only let some of the people out of the locked holding areas after they say, "We'll only tell you where Nick went IF you let us out."

I was definitely yelling at the TV! Even more when they got to Strand's house. Even if it was gated..close the doors!

I love Strand as a character but definitely don't trust him. Didn't have much sympathy for the guy getting eaten as he took back his cuff links. And I could see why he didn't either. Can't wait to see what happens out on the water!

I don't blame them for getting out on their own without telling neighbors (letting all the walkers loose and not closing the gate wasn't cool though). I would imagine in that situation, it's in your best interest to keep your group as small as possible. They were about to storm a military compound-they couldn't really have a whole neighborhood of people following them at that point. I really didn't like how they left the kids alone in the parking garage.

I was thinking the same thing! I thought they were crazy for letting the walkers all out of the stadium. They let all heck break loose to save three people.

I was also scolding them for sneaking out of the neighborhood. Why not let the others know what was going on? They basically left them all to die.

So then I thought she could be another sister to Andrea. I need to re-watch the first season and see what they say. Then I had a brainstorm. To make it interesting, it needs to be a current character if they want to make us all ooohh-aahh. Finding out she's Andrea's sister really has no impact as she's long gone. So, who's left? From the south (southern accent). That has a dark past. A past that would make someone hard enough on the inside to be able to make the tough decisions fairly quickly. Say someone who survives child abuse. That would make them tough. Do we know any characters like that?? I'd put my money on her being a Dixon. Left that situation and got as far away as s he could, to sunny LA. Became a school counselor to help kids. Addiction in the family (Merle with pills and their dad had a still), didn't she say something about someone else she knew or something that had an addiction problem? That it was her fault Nick was like that? I figured it meant her husband, but now maybe it was her dad and brother she meant.

I like it too-it means if she ever goes nuts, we have another excuse to have Merle come back as a hallucination!

Plus, Andrea never had a southern accent, as much as she kinda has her look and attitude. We really know nothing about any of their extended families, which is pretty sad when you think about it!

I was thinking Dixon too. Maybe Merle is her kids' dad...doubtful, it's more likely she's Merle's sister. Though I don't remember Daryl talking about a sister, though he's pretty private.

I am intrigued to see the boat story. I have always said to my kids, as we watched TWD, that I'd find a boat/yacht/ship. Now getting gas will be a problem (it wasn't a sailboat, right?) so they'll have to stay anchored close to shore (to make supply runs) but not too close where other folks will want to take their boat. Looking forward to next season even though I wasn't a fan of this season.

I like the Dixon angle too, but I was very very surprised that he gave that little tidbit. The showrunners on the Walking Dead would never have given Hardwick that hint. I said to my husband, you can tell his isn't to all of this because he just gave away a hint that he shouldn't have.

I thought they had said that fear the walking dead would have nothing to do with WD and they would be independent of each other and no cross over. I would be on the Don't Trust The Government side. I think we have seen how they reacted in some smaller scenario's and how they screwed those up. I can imagine the cluster... that would insue if it was on a global scale.

I can understand why they removed Daniel's wife. She was badly injured and would have died without medical intervention. Yes, they were trying to help her medically, but they also had to prevent her from coming back if she died due to the infection.

Nick, I can see him being a liability. Addicts will go to extreme lengths to get their fix, so he could not be trusted. Not to mention the possibility of an OD is always there. Of course, storming someones house at night, guns on everyone, pushing people around and threatening is really not the best way to go about "helping" people though. You don't really make friends or gain anyone's trust by lying and threatening and kidnapping people.

I know, how could they just drive by, seeing these poor kids through the window and not warn them? Mr. Spineless, can't hurt anyone, was fine with leaving them all there for a certain death? That was pretty cold hearted. I can see them not wanting people following them, especially since they were heading out on their covert mission, but give them a fighting chance at least. Leaving the gates open was just adding insult to injury. So wrong of them.

I didn't watch Talking Dead so totally missed this part. What was it they said? Did they allude to the fact that Madison is or may be related to one of the TWD crew? If that is the case, I am so voting for Daryl and Meryl!!

Love that Dixon connection. One thing that she said though that perked my ears, was she said they should go east. That made me wonder if she was thinking about all the way to Georgia. Why not south or north. Plenty of places to go on the west coast. Up to Canada, down to Mexico... Seems chancy to drive through the desert and all the way across. She must have something in mind.

They could set up at Alcatraz. That could keep them safe.
